I started with Elite Studio when I wanted some new funky fresh hair color! Haley Johnson is AMAZING! She has a very creative mind and when you bring your ideas, pictures etc to her...she adds her flair to it! She takes the time to set down with you and look over what your ideas are, discusse the correct technique to use to preserve the integrity of your hair then gets to work! I left there feeling 20 yrs younger and a gorgeous head of fresh flowy hair!! I used to go to a salon in Raleigh and now I am so happy I found Haley and this salon in Aberdeen. I am very partial to this very special salon! I've considered it my second home for the past 19 years (minus a year 1/2: long story- bad decisions on my part). I've never known another hair salon where sooo many woman genuinely love, care about, and are willing to help each other out whenever needed! This is truly hard to find! For almost 10 years I taught haircolor for Goldwell~ which gave me the opportunity to travel to other salons literally all over the country. This is when I realized what a special team of caring professionals we are blessed with. After being in business for almost 20 years (19 actually)- ofcourse some bad apples managed to sneak in - but thankfully have moved along elsewhere! Some we have lost due to military husbands having to move & even career changes- they have been & still are truly missed. We were however fortunate enough to gain wonderful replacements. Some younger and as much as we love to help & teach them, they keep us young and teach us the newer techniques being taught. It definitely goes both ways! In this industry you never stop learning! And you definitely NEVER know it all!!! The owners are the absolute best and I cannot praise them enough. I've been going here for about 1 1/2 years now and Autumn is my stylist. Everytime I see Autumn to get my hair done my hair looks great. This is by far the best salon around for a variety of styles. The salon itself is just gorgeous and the staff has been nothing but friendly. The stylist / owner that has been doing my hair does a good job. Problem is she is usually a few minutes late to arrive for my appointment. My time is just as important as hers; wonder if she realizes that? This time, it's worse. I made an appointment a month ago to get my hair done today. Two weeks after I made the appointment, the receptionist calls to inform me my stylist / owner has to cancel because she has a camping trip she forgot about. I let her know I have to get my hair done that day as I have a function I am attending. She asks if I would mind booking with someone else and I was fine with that. Well, an hour before my appointment this morning, the receptionist calls to cancel saying the backup stylist's children are both sick and she can't come in to do my hair. I ask if there is anyone else available as I have a function to attend and must get my hair done. Guess what, not a soul is available today. They tell me the stylist with the sick kids was the only one booked today. UGH!!! How am I supposed to get a hair appointment on a Saturday morning with a function this evening? I'm really disappointed in the service (lack of?). Bottom line, if you just want your hair done and don't have a special occasion, this is the place for you. However, if you absolutely need it done for a function, I suggest you make your appointment somewhere more reliable. UPDATE:The receptionist called me around noon to say that another stylist was available and could do my hair at Noon. I appreciated the effort, but it was too late in the day. If my original appointment was kept, I would have been done by Noon. She was very sweet when she called me though. My friends tell me not to go back, that there are many other salons just as good out there, so I think I'm going to find one that does a good job and is a little more reliable. I have been a client of studio elite for 5 years..specifically seeing Kris W. I have always had fantastic results. I have changed my hair sooo many times..cuts..colors..bleaching..stripping.. I have never been disappointed. The prices of service is excellent considering this is an upscale salon. I have seen very happy clients leaving over the years (cuts every 6-8 weeks..over 5 years) Not very high turnover..I've seen the same stylists working most times I go. I've read the negative reviews..and I suppose folks will always post the negative.. So I encourage anyone reading to try for yourself. I have ALWAYS been greeted when coming in.. I have been going to Studio Elite for about a year and have never been dissatisfied. Carlee does my hair every time to perfection! She has always cut it but recently she put highlights in it. The highlights blended so well with my natural color that it didn't look like I just got them done - it looked natural. Everyone in the studio is always so nice when I go in there. I had an appointment for my son at 1. I was acknowledged by the nail tech....but then she disappeared. I sat there with my son until 1:20. No receptionist was ever at the front desk. No one came by to let me know an estimated wait time.....how long should I have sat there with my son?? We were going to pay upwards of 50 dollars for a kids hair cut, But they can't afford a receptionist? I left feeling pretty irritated that my time was wasted, kind of inexcusable for a "high end salon". read more

You do not want to go to Studio Elite...EVER. Three time I had my hair colored by Jennifer ( who will talk you ear off about things you don't need to know and will NOT pay attention to your hair)...all THREE times, ( once was a do- over) she left gray in my hair. IN THE VERY places I pointed out I had gray!!!! TEN years I have had GOLDWELL color from various stylists and they got all the gray--never ONCE did I have to get my hair done twice over.. My mom and sister in-law in another state are hair stylsts and said that THIS shouldn't happen. Jennifer offered to talk to my former stylist in Ohio who DOES get the color everytime...now why would she do that? Because as she said " I didn't know what else to do".and this last time I went there is STILL GRAY. The office and owners could care less about customers..they care about each other and refuse to take care of matters. I want my money back because I didn't get what I paid for and have to go to another salon who does GOLDWELL to get a decent color job. I have met at least THREE other women who have gone to this shop and will not go back to her or the shop. I put in a call to the manager but she didn't do anything..I asked for the owners name but she didn't offer one of the owners phone number-so I looked up Dawn Hussey , one of the owners and put in a call to her...so far nothing. Her name was given to me as HUSSEY but that's not what the site says...maybe they didn't want me to talk to her..wonder why??? IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HAIR-- DO NOT GO HERE! I had been a customer of Studio Elite, Erica Monroe always did such an excellent job styling my hair. I understand she is no longer a hairstylist. I tried a new stylist, Amber, and was so disappointed with the haircut I received. She started the haircut before it was even washed -chopping away with texturizing scissors with no regard. I showed her several pictures so that she would get the right idea of how I wanted my haircut, and she cut it so short there was no way that she could have interpreted those pictures for the haircut that I received. I actually squealed when she started to cut my hair so short on the sides that I couldn't even tuck it behind my ears. I've actually delayed my review, because I was so upset that I thought I might actually leave too harsh of a review of Amber's work... that maybe my hair would get better after a couple weeks and maybe it wasn't so bad... Just extremely short. I was so wrong. Even after two weeks my hair is chopped in places And incongruously longer in others. I actually have to go to another salon to get a "fix" haircut. There were actually strands behind my ears that she didn't even cut. One of my coworkers actually said she was sorry she was going to have to tell me, but it looked like I needed to get a haircut that would repair my butchered hair cut. Remember the scene in Game of Thrones when Queen Cersei got all her hair chopped off- we'll now I know how she felt. I've had some bad haircuts in my day, but this has got to be the worst one I have ever gotten it all my 40+ years on this earth. It wasn't that it was just so much shorter than I had planned, it was botched on top of it. Amber seemed very nice and I hope this was just a bad day for her, but I won't be having another go with Amber. read more
