The only thing my mom ever wrote in my baby book was "loves hair and brushes" so it's safe to say I take my hair just a bit too seriously, but so does Ricardo. I usually get restless , nervous and freaked out if I have to sit too long, not with Ricardo. I'm not very trusting by nature but I throw some ideas at him then say do your best and I'm always very happy with my fresh look. He totally gets it and is thoughtful enough to trim the brows and shape up my beard with out my even asking. I'm quite happy to have found him and won't be going anywhere else anytime soon. Maybe it was just the day I called or the time I called, but it did not seem like my request/inquiry was much appreciated when I tried calling in to set up an appointment after reading so many wonderful and positive reviews. I called in to see if there were any appointments available only to get a response that this person was unavailable that day, (which I understand since it was short notice) and that they would be on vacation for an extended time. After this response, I had hoped they would continue to let me know which days would be available and what time it would be best for me to schedule an appointment on another future date. After a pause, I did not hear an attempt to obtain my business so I thanked and said goodbye. I was courteous and polite and got the feeling that this person wanted me off the phone rather than obtain a future business prospect and was disappointed. Perhaps I will try again in the future but for now it did not seem like my business was wanted at the time. read more

Seriously, Ricardo deserves six stars if that were possible! I moved to Los Angeles a couple of months back and luckily I found Ricardo. When it comes to getting my hair cut, I'm one of those picky ppl that doesn't even know what to be picky about in the first place. In other words, I'm never sure what kind of hair cut to get and always end up with the same thing. Ricardo was able to calmly decipher what I was looking for and gave me a better hair cut than I've gotten yet. He really is great at what he does and is truly hospitable. At the end of the hair cut he lathers shaving cream on the back of your neck to make sure you get a real close shave. I have a pixie with a shaved/faded undercut. The sides are faded and the back is shaved but with slightly more weight so that the hair in the back has something to lay on top of. It's taken me a while to find a stylist/barber who understands that I need a tight fade and sharp line up on the undercut part and a softer, feminine style on the top where the rest of my hair lays to the left. The pixie hair on top lays and the ends make up an asymmetrical angled line to accentuate/follow my jaw line and give the illusion of a less rounded face. On top of that, I have stick straight fine Asian hair that is difficult to get volume into unless its texture cut correctly as well as 2 cowlicks on the back of my head. ALL of this and Ricardo knew how to really cut/fade/style so that my hair always looks nice, even during the painful 6th week when I'm dying to get it shaved/cut again LOL. He also cuts the top pixie hair in a way that if I want to wear it up in a faux hawk, everything looks even and makes my face appear longer rather than rounder. Thanks Ricardo! read more
