After speaking with Universe about an inspiration board I provided of hime cuts I'd researched to try to get the perfect look--and admiring her stylish and classic shag's cute wave--we decided to go with a hybrid version of the three, so without the frame-y super-straight front bangs I had during my schoolgirl era, but still with some side action (see the ear cut in the image attached). I'm delighted with this phenomenal haircut and can't wait to come back. The conversation is light and warmhearted as well, making me feel welcomed and listened to. I was fairly nervous about getting my hair cut, and have been flat ironing it into shape since it grew out from a nicely cleaned-up wolf cut, with some leftover bleach toward the ends from some three hair changes ago. They put in some mousse that lifts the crown of my head well, and the shampoo set they used in the beginning smelled delectable, lightly fragrant. The salon ambiance is very relaxed and comfortable, airy and calming, with low strains of Fleetwood Mac on the stereo. I had a lot of anxiety about going naturally-gray and Liz eased my tension and impatience about the process. I had shared with her that I'd been so frustrated with all the money I'm wasting going to this stylist who just didn't know how to color my roots and hair and cut it, too. I get my roots retouched every 3 weeks and the amount of money and time I invested with the previous one was so not worth it. So, I decided to go natural, but was panicked over my roots' stark demarcation. Tried Liz based on Yelp reviews and wow, was I so surprised! First, she suggested to cut my hair shorter (it was almost shoulder length and a bob before). I allowed her to go for it. I was very happy with how it turned out. I could tell that she really knew what she was doing. She didn't try to sell me a root touchup. Three weeks later, my roots were over an inch showing and I was so disgusted with my hair, so I called Liz. She took me in the following day. She could tell I was stressed about going natural, but was also very confused about how to go about it without giving up too soon. So she did a balayage which lightened my hair as it was colored dark before by my previous stylist. The tint turned out very well and I felt like I could look in the mirror again and feel that I can really commit to going gray. My time with Liz was enriching; great conversation about the trials and tribulations of women aging and being free to just be ourselves. Liz is the kind of businesswoman who is honest and not motivated by profit, but more about really improving her client's outlook about the way they look. She's fun, free-spirited, funny, and most importantly, really great at her craft. I highly recommend Tigue Salon!

They messed up my hair, and by they, I mean there was literally two people cutting my hair at the…read moresame time. I asked for a trim. One person (Jackie) cutting the right side told me she didn't have her cosmology degree. The left side was cut by (Maryanne) who apparently was trying to teach Jackie how to cut hair. This was not anything I had agreed to. They just sat me down in the chair and started in. They also were pretty boisterous and oddly insulting about my hair. I asked Jackie to stop cutting because I could see how horrid she was at cutting hair, but she wouldn't stop. But once you sit down and people have started cutting, it's not easy to stop them. The left side by Maryanne is okay. Although she cut more off than I asked, and she didn't stick just with a trim because she tried to do damage control for Jackie's mistakes. The right side by Jackie is hideous, with huge chunky layers cut into it. Maryanne, (the experienced hairdresser) admonished Jackie, (the one without a degree), saying to her "remember how good my side looked before I tried to fix your side". I knew some damage had been done but wasn't sure how much, because they styled my hair in a way that covered up the mistake. I was charged 75 dollars and had to tip two separate people on top of that. As I left I was told they could fix any problem, to just to come back. But when I came back the next day and tried to talk with them. Jackie was hostile and said I asked her to cut the right side that way, while Maryanne accused me of making a scene although I didn't even raise my voice. I then was bullied out of the door by a burly mean acting guy. Later that day I received a phone call from Maryanne (the experienced hairdresser who had done the left side). She appeared drunk or to be dealing with mental health issues. I tired to discuss my concerns with her, and she said something like "I'd rather talk about anything else than your hair, can we talk about the war in Syria?" Like seriously? No. Maryanne refused to see the problem with what had happened (they basically used my hair to teach somebody without a degree). To this Maryanne said "But I Love Jackie". And "you don't need a license to cut hair". She refused a refund, even partially. Kept saying she "had to go" but then kept talking. Just to get her off the phone I told her I'd consider having her cut it again in some random point in time, after the much-too- short pieces from Jackie's chop-job grow out. But honestly I am not planning on ever going back there, I don't see how I'd ever trust anybody from that shop near my hair in the future.

I had super long, straight, fine hair but wanted a bouncy 1980s perm. Maryanne spent all evening working my hair and making it perfect. I never dreamed I could have hair with such volume. Virginia, you refunded my payment (thank you) and I wasn't sure whether to write this. I loved the haircuts I got from you before. But you cannot experiment on people's hair like this. And after this I do not think you should be coloring people's hair at all. I asked you directly before we started if you had knowledge and experience with blonde highlights and you said multiple times yes, and that you definitely could make it happen. But it turned out you had no idea how to do blonde bleach, let alone balayage. Once you rinsed out the bleach and saw how bad it looked, you didn't stop what you were doing to share what had happened. Instead of showing me the results, you applied a super-hot curling wand to give me a big hairstyle so I wouldn't notice the highlights. The wand on the new bleach left it with intense heat damage. The hair is falling out as I write this and my whole head stinks of burnt hair. This did not need to happen - you could have simply told me the truth, that you have no idea what you're doing with blonde highlights, and I would have been able to find someone who does, and my hair would still be healthy right now. Please let me be the last person this happens to.

She took the time to educate on the different types of extensions and why the type I had been getting before were most likely causing more problems for my thinning hair (another hairdresser had also said the same). Finally, she taught me how to care for my hair before and after swimming. My hair is in the best shape it's ever been in and I get compliments all the time, but most importantly, I love it!
