I had a 1940s themed wedding I was a part of so I wanted to create that subtle monochromatic eye look with a subtle lip rather than a bold red/orange to keep with my champagne dress and added lashes to help my blue eyes pop. It made everything look so natural that I still looked like me, just more polished. The picture I have here is literally almost 10 hours later, even through dancing, dinner, a windy ceremony, and lots and lots of professional photos taken throughout the day. She asked me what my goals were and then together we mapped out a plan to restore not just any old arches, but arches that would fit and enhance my face! She was patient with all of my questions and explained everything in great detail. The best part was the passion she showed for her craft. She also gave me important do's and don'ts for maintenance throughout the process. Process Annie explained every step of the process and I didn't feel any pain during the procedure. We chatted throughout the procedure and she is truly a lovely person. At the end, Annie asked me if I had any questions and provided me with clear and detailed after care instructions. My brows were a little vibrant after the procedure as Annie had explained they would be. However, by the third day they started to settle down. I even received a few compliments from co-workers remarking on how nice my brows looked. I'm now on week 2 and my brows are no longer sparse, thin, semi-circles, but beautiful arches that frame my face. I couldn't be happier with my new look and I'm only at the half-way point right now. The stylists who did my wedding hadn't seen my trial photos at all until I showed them the day of my wedding, resulting in a look that didn't match my trial, my hair especially. Unfortunately, one of my core memories of my wedding day is the stress surrounding this experience and not feeling 100% confident in how my hair and makeup turned out. With all of the positive reviews of the Secret Salon, I didn't expect this outcome at all. I've added photos of the trial and wedding day for comparison. I was overall satisfied with the trial, booked in June 2025 with the stylist, Jennifer. She achieved the look I wanted and we talked through tweaks to make sure the style would last through the wedding day. She took pictures of my makeup and hair so she'd have record of it, and let me know that she would be the one doing my styling on my wedding day. On my wedding day in December 2025, the makeup artist, Samantha, arrived on time, but the hair stylist (can't remember her name) arrived late, and this contributed to the overall hair timeline of the day running late. I hadn't received any notice ahead of time that Jennifer was unavailable. When it came time for my makeup, I asked what had happened with Jennifer and that I hadn't heard there'd be a change, and the makeup artist didn't have further information other than a scheduling conflict. I then asked if she had seen my trial photos to know what I'm going for, and she hadn't and asked if I had those available. Thankfully I did and pulled those up and explained what Jennifer did at my trial and some elements we had troubleshooted. The makeup: Generally, I appreciate Samantha's commitment to getting my makeup "right" for my wedding day, as we spent extra time at the end doing tweaks. I'll add she did a great job hiding some acne scarring as well. This review isn't about her individual performance as I certainly don't blame her for the overall lack of organization. She saw my trial photos for a total of 10 seconds before she started working on me. But objectively, my concealer wasn't color corrected underneath like the trial with Jennifer and therefore looked gray in person. Additionally, the face makeup at my trial was soft and subtle, and she had a heavier hand with bronzer than I expected. Photos blurred both of these out, but it still didn't change how I felt the day of. The hair: At my trial, Jennifer worked with me to achieve the Hollywood waves I was looking for on my naturally straight hair. These fell out a bit through the day, but 12 hours later, I still had some waves. I'll start by saying that my bridesmaids and myself who wore our hair down were disappointed with the hair stylist. She simply wasn't as experienced as Jennifer, and it showed in how she handled my hairstyle. Again, when I sat down with her, I asked if she had seen my trial photos and she said no so I showed them to her. I explained the nature of my hair and how it requires high heat, hairspray, etc. to achieve a curl. At multiple points through her styling my hair, she asked me how Jennifer was able to get my hair to curl as my hair wasn't holding them. She was using hairspray and the same tools that Jennifer used. This question baffled me, as I would have expected them to have communicated ahead of time, and I wasn't told in detail what Jennifer had used. The stylist tried setting my hair in curlers for a while to see if this would help, while she finished the rest of my bridesmaids' hair and finished me last. She pulled our hair so hard to curl it that our heads were yanked backwards in the chair. When she took the curlers out and tried to curl my hair again, she said it wasn't holding the curl. But after every time she curled my hair, she was fully running her brush through the curls which knocked them out. I left with the ends of my hair curled, nowhere near Hollywood waves. When I got to the venue 15 minutes away, some of these curls were already coming undone. I asked my bridesmaid to bring a curling iron to the bridal suite, and they re-curled my hair. All the curls that they did, stayed. My hair did not look as polished and professional as my trial, and as I look back on my wedding day photos, I dislike any from the back because of this. I purposely pushed all my hair behind my shoulders in formal photos so the mismatched curled ends weren't visible. I write this review because the mismanagement was entirely preventable. It wouldn't have taken much effort to email me letting me know of the scheduling change. I'd have happily taken it upon myself to share my trial photos and notes with the new stylists. Since there are very few negative reviews of Secret Salon, I felt obligated to share my experience here.

This review is solely regarding the salon's communication and booking process. I cannot speak to…read moreits hair and make up service. I communicated with salon and its owner in August of 2025 to book hair and makeup services for my wedding in April 2026 for myself and a small bridal party (4 bridesmaids, MIL, mother). They confirmed that my date was available and provided the contract and deposit link. I paid the deposit and executed the contract. I emailed with Alice about requesting a morning start time, and then touch up services in the afternoon. Alice confirmed that we could do that, but there would be a fee for the touch up service. This was fine. And we agreed to touch base on the exact schedule closer to the date. On September 16, I received an email from Alice in which she claims that none of her team members are available on my April 2026 date (7 months from now), due to apparent "childcare obligations" in the morning. To her credit, I did receive a refund of my deposit. However, it rubbed me the wrong way that they dodged accountability with a very obvious cop out with an impersonal email obviously crafted by ChatGpt. In fact, several emails from them were heavily AI reliant. I understand that AI can be a great tool, but when it came to this, there needed to be some actual accountability. Wedding planning is stressful enough. Not only did the salon pull out of this contractual obligation with a flimsy excuse, they didn't even have the courtesy to point me in the direction of another salon/HMUA to reach out to. In sum, I found them to unprofessional and unreliable.

I can not recommend Bonnie Owen for a hair stylist enough! If there were ten stars she'd get them! She is simply the best hairdresser I have encountered in 33 years! Literally my entire life I have been searching for a good hair cut, and I have been to some of the most finest hair salons. I have thin, fine hair, which is very difficult to give body. Bonnie makes me look like I have twice the amount of hair which no one has ever managed to do, not even slightly, and I'm not exaggerating! She is so skilled and knowledgeable in hair and how to achieve any look you are going for (I've overheard her taking to her other clients). I have been going to Bonnie now for over 5 years! I first met her in the Umberto salon on Robertson in Los Angeles, were she was in a blink of an eyelid catapulted to the very fine Umberto Beverly Hills salon. Bit of a drive from where I live, but not following her was simply not an option! She literally is Edward Scissor hands with those scissors. She whips around your head so confidently and so precisely it honestly blows my mind to this day. And on top of it all, as if it couldn't get any better, she is one of the most sweetest, loveliest people I have ever met! Sadly for me, and all her Los Angeles/Beverly Hills clients she has decided to move back to her home town, San Diego, to be close to her family. I was crushed when she announced she was moving back. However the blow was softened by her saying she would still be coming to Umberto Beverly Hills one weekend a month. In summary, she is an amazing hair stylist, in my option and many of her clients.... THE BEST! She has a large client base in LA/Beverly Hills, who all wait for that one weekend a month she comes up from San Diego, and everyone scrambles to get an appointment with her. I will never have anyone else cut my hair now, I wait for her to come up, or if I ever find myself in San San Diego, I will go and visit her at her new salon.... And if I am not able to get in to see her one month, then I will simply wait until the following month. GREAT NEWS for San Diego people.... and Studio Savvy in Rancho Santa Fe.... Bonnie now works there! I highly recommend you go and see Bonnie.... She works wonders with my hair, I can not even imagine what she can do with everyone else..... This is my favorite place ever!! The studio itself is beautiful and the people there are warm, fun, friendly, and extremely kind. It feels like a family there and their main priority is to give you the best experience they can. Deena is a hair wizard she has such a gift and fantastic creative vision to ensure you always look your best. And their new addition to the family, the fabulous James, is a miracle worker!! Not only is he an extremely talented makeup artist and a best friend to your eyebrows, but he also works wonders on your skin. I've suffered from mildly severe acne since 7th grade (I'm a freshman in college now) and I've pretty much tried everything without success. I came to James for help and it's the best thing I've ever done for my skin. After just a couple facials and purchasing his "Seacret" mud soap cleansing bar which I've been using night and day for almost two weeks, my acne is pretty much completely gone. Kassidy Byers is the most talented colorist at Salon Savvy in Rancho Santa Fe Ca. Before I found Kassidy, I was kidding myself that I would be able to replace my previous color professional who relocated to the east coast. I actually sincerely envisioned myself booking a flight to the east coast to get my hair colored....but of course, that would not be possible financially. I was reading an article in Ranch and Coast about Salon Savvy and the most exceptional color expert named Kassidy Byers. I was intrigued and desperate for someone to correct my color, and redefine a pattern and formula for me. Serious talent at Studio Savvy Salon! They're GREAT at what they do and have such a loyal following because of it. They are the perfect resource to ask about products or services that you have been curious about trying. Most of the Studio Savvy stylists are industry educators as well. They won't try to sell you anything you don't need and are forthcoming in their advice. I don't know what I'd do without these lovely stylists. Deena Von Yokes (owner) is a hair magician!!! 5 stars all the way. If there's anyone I trust to deal with my hair from now on, it's her. She did a full balayage and gloss on my hair and it couldn't have turned out better! Having long dark blonde hair, I was a little nervous about who to trust to take it lighter for me. But when I met Deena, I knew It was her! And I was right.. The whole experience, from start to finish was exemplary. Mel, one of the girls who assisted was so sweet and very skilled and smart as well. I am a 25 year client of Studio Savvy and I would never trust my blonde hair to anyone else!! I love the studio space and all of the amazing stylists. I first came to Studio Savvy when I was a new mom and needed to brighten my look a little!! I got a few highlights and an updated cut, then a few years later I moved on to some lowlights, and now enjoy extensions as well. It's important to me to feel current and in style, and I trust Deena and all the girls to ensure my hair looks fresh and updated!! I've been going to Brooke Hasselmann for about the last 4 years. She's done my hair for all my homecomings, proms and special events and I've always gotten a bunch of compliments every time, along with hair coloring every few months. She has always given me exactly what I ask for and spends a tremendous amount of time and effort every time. I've gone from dark to blonde to blonde highlights, no matter what I want she does it exactly how I want it and uses amazing products, treatments and glosses on my hair. Last week I got a blow out by Anna. Asked for volume and i swear she blew my hair out so much it looked like i got it flat ironed. It was stuck to my head and SO flat. I went home and teased it as much as i could but it didn't help and it was too late to shower and do it all over again before my party. On a separate occasion I asked to get my roots died with no blow dry (bc i was pressed on time) and still paid $85 plus tip which i think is ridiculous for walking out with wet hair. If i was doing extensive work i could comprehend that price but literally just slapping on a color to my root and washing it off is not worth that price. Ugh ... so disappointed. read more

If you want a place to go to the just isn't satisfied with "we have always done it this way" but goes to London, Paris and NYC to keep current with new trends, colors,etc. then this is the perfect salon. You will be treated as an individual and not the same as everyone else. Everyone is highly trained and they listen to your needs. I've been getting my hair cut and colored with Kassidy for the past two years. She also does my extensions. When I first met Kassidy she had her work cut out. I needed a full color correction and my hair was completely fried. She has literally worked miracles. She has vast knowledge and expertise, always flexible with my schedule and a sweet person to spend time with in the salon. I cannot recommend her highly enough! I have been going to this salon for the past 3 years. I have been on a transition from dark brown dyed hair to cool blonde. I see Victoria every few weeks to touch up my roots, and for a trim or blowout. Victoria always does a great job, and my hair as a result is in excellent condition. She also gives a great blow out, and turns my naturally curly and frizzy hair into smooth beach waves. If you are looking for a cut, color or style, go see Victoria. No one in San Diego does it better than Deena at Studio Savvy when it comes to color.I know because I have been a client for years. She is especially adept with highlights/low lights, giving blondes a more natural look. Deena is also great at blow-outs, managing to give my fine textured hair some volume that lasts. Kassidy is my go to when it comes to getting my hair done. The salon is a bit of a drive from where I live but she is totally worth it! She always knows exactly what I want and makes sure to keep my hair healthy in the process. I am unable to get my hair done constantly so she styles it in a way that my hair can grow out and still look awesome. Fabulous crew, truly talented color and cut capabilities! I am a tough customer because I've spent a lot of time at great east coast & SF salons, so I'm really happy to have found Kassidy. I started seeing Kassidy Byers at Studio Savvy in Rancho Santa Fe about a year ago and fell in love instantly. She gives perfect natural highlights on both light and dark hair as well as flattering cuts for all face shapes and sizes. I got a text and email confirmation. The next day I received a text stating the time I selected (from their calendar, mind you) wasn't available. And asking what I was looking for so they could recommend a stylist, which I'd asked for in the first place! I expressed my concerns and texted photos of my hair. The person replied that I'd be heading directly from a stylist, and that they'd cancel the consultation I booked. No stylist has reached out, so it seems they have enough business that they don't need mine.

One of the most important steps which is often overlooked by stylists is letting the client know if their expectations are realistic, healthy for your hair and the maintenance in keeping up your preferred style - Tracy didn't skip a beat and I knew from the jump what my upkeep needed to be. We have since built a relationship where she just knows what I'm looking for and I trust that my hair is going to look amazing. And it's the perfect blonde! I have long hair and always get a subtle cut with long layers which I emphasized to her prior to any cut being done. Truly not a crazy or difficult request. I told her that my hair needs to be long enough to all fit into a ponytail or top knot bun and she said yes definitely. Thinking back now she never asked me how short I wanted the layers to be at their shortest, which every stylist has always asked in the past. Regardless, the subtle haircut I wanted ended up as more of a chop with a weird section of blunt short layers in the front that look truly awful. They do not blend well and are too short to stay in a ponytail when pulled back. I gave it a couple weeks to see if things would even out after the freshness of the cut wore off, but it still looks just as bad and I'm devastated knowing it'll take so long for these pieces to grow back. She told me that she guarantees her work but she can't make my hair grow back and I'm not trying to cut more.. I expected more from a senior stylist with senior stylist level prices. $420 later for a cut I'm unhappy with and color that looks about the same as before. And minus another $18 for parking because she did not validate my card correctly I guess and I had to pay. The vibe of the salon is fine, the people who work there seem to be nice, but I would not recommend this stylist. One other issue I had was that I booked for a cut and partial balayage to stick within a budget I was comfortable with. Katee ended up doing a full balayage and charging me accordingly (appropriately so)- but the issue is that before rendering the service she did not ask for approval (or even tell me) that she was going to do full instead which lacked professional transparency in the context of such an expensive service. Note: the photos emphasize the cut but the color is not true to life due to the indoor lighting where I took the pics.
