As I drove up to the road the Salon was a cute and cozy home with plenty of parking in the front or side streets. As I entered the door I was greeted right away by my new stylist Teresa and given a tour. I was walked through to the back where I was given a gown thing to cover my clothes during my experience. When I came back out there my stylist guided me to my Queen chair haha okay not really but let's face it when you are sitting in the chair you want the experience to be all about you and to feel like the Queen! And so my color and styling journey began....what to do with my hair??? Teresa was so patient and listen to every thought and idea I had going on in my head. She made awesome suggestions and made sure to be clear that those were my expectations. I appreciated her not trying to change my vision but only enhance my vision. So I went with dark brown(natural color) and soft lighter brown highlights. As you know color and cut takes a few hours so we had lots of girl talk in between! That was another check in the box for me because duh! Your stylist has to be your BFF too! Anyhow ta dah!! What a beautiful surprise my hair was healthy, shiny, and she hit my vision right on the dot! The products used were awesome and I felt like the Queen of the Salon in that moment and also til today haha! Teresa Guthrie is an awesome color and stylist! I would trust her with my hair anytime! Prices are competitive with others in this area and you are getting what you paid for without a doubt. I can see the value in this place with the employees and customers it truely feels like a mini getaway where you are the Queen of the castle and have marvelous hair! lol! Thank goodness for the ladies at the Stratford House!!! I had my wedding hair and makeup booked with another salon, and after my hair at the other place turned out terrible, I freaked out, and frantically called around Del Mar to find new hair and makeup people! I called Stratford house, and Shannon saved me!!! She was so so so nice to me, answered all of my questions, and made me comfortable in my moment of pre-wedding freak out. I am suuuuper picky about my hair, but I took a chance on Shannon, and went in for my pre-wedding haircut, and wedding hair trial. It came out the way I wanted, so I booked my wedding day with Shannon last minute for me and 7 bridesmaids. She and a stylist friend of hers from another salon came to my house on my wedding day to do all our hair. Everybody's hair came out awesome! Nila from the Stratford house was awesome too! She spent plenty of time with me on my trial, trying different makeup techniques until I was completely happy with it. She came to my house on my wedding day too to do my makeup! Just had lash extensions done by Amanda at the Stratford House in Del Mar ~ in her "My Lash Room" immaculate, gentle, and comfortable. Amanda is an artist, uses only top of the line lashes and glue, so natural, most people think that I use a Lash booster, nope! it is all Amanda. May sound silly, but it is a life changer, no make-up? no problem, full lashes make all the difference. Very reasonably priced, reliable, and works quickly without rushing. Kay Cowan has been styling and coloring my hair for years and I followed her when she started working at this salon. I had a lovely experience getting my nails done here. A friend purchased a nail service for me. I got a beautiful glittery ruby red nail coat for my toes. Ooooh I loved it. I felt so special for the holidays because I would look down at my toes, and they were a sparkly lush red. I thank Elizabeth so much for that. It was a very pleasant experience. It was fun chatting with her. It's so relaxing, and the location is near the coast. I will definitely go back there again to have a nail appointment with Elizabeth. I recommend going to Brenna because she's an amazing colorist who can also cut hair with precision and style. This is an update to a previous review of this place. There are about 10 hairstylists, nail pros and aestheticians there. My hair stylist is Suzi, and she just cut/colored my hair yesterday. I haven't had so many comments on a new 'do in a long time. Unanimous compliments with the best being "Takes five years off you." (Or that could be the worst depending on how you look at it.)
