Updated Review: Shortly after posting the review below, the StuioMD operations manager contacted me to apologize and ask if I would come back with a consultation with another employee. I was rescheduled with Jennifer at the midtown location. Jennifer was so kind and personable, she provided a reasonable quote based on the size of the tattoo, explained how many sessions would be required for removal, and ensured that I was comfortable during the treatment. With a much improved experience, I chose to purchase a package for 6-sessions. StudioMD made great efforts to correct for a formerly negative experience, and ensure my experience with them moving forward was positive. I will continue treatment with StudioMD, and would recommend them to others. ------------------------------------------------------- Horrible experience with a consultation for laser tattoo removal. The consultation was with Nancy, she is incredibly rude and incompetent. I have a tattoo that measures 4.5 inches by 1/2 an inch - which equates to 2.25 square inches. Yet was quoted $269 per session, when the cost is advertised as $129 for the first square inch plus an additional $10 per square inch. I told Nancy the pricing was incorrect, the tattoo was not large enough to correlate to that size. So she took out a measuring tape, and measured it in cm - not inches but equated 1 cm to 1 in. She measured the length as 16 cm - recalculated and said Its actually more than $269 now. Nancy magically came up with a new area equivalent to 8 square inches. I said she was calculating a square inch wrong. She threw her phone, with the calculator app open, in my face and told me to calculate it myself then - utilizing a snotty tone. I said do not talk to me like that, and she stormed out of the room. Note that I have had the same tattoo treated by LaserAway, and was billed for a 3 square inch tattoo. Additionally, I have a PhD in physics and can assure you the tattoo is far from 8 square inches. The front-desk didn't do anything to remedy the situation - other than offer an appointment at another location. Nancy is clearly incapable of basic math, and interpersonal skills. I would advocate that you do not trust someone with her skillset to do anything to your body. Frankly, I believe that StudioMD should be embarrassed to have someone with her technical incompetency, lack of professionalism, and poor interpersonal skills on their team. read more

I came here to get a mole removed that was on the crease of my nostril that I have been putting off for years. I was afraid of scaring and what it would look like after, especially since it was on my face. Prior to this visit I went to two other dermatologists; one who told me I would probably hate the way it looked after it healed and would always have to put makeup on it, and the other who said I would need stitches. I found LaserTouch while google searching and decided to give it a try after reading about Dr. Vafa's radiosurgery. I thought the office was beautiful, the staff was friendly, and Dr. Vafa's consultation made me feel at ease since he was very laid back about the procedure. I decided to go through with it that same day and the whole thing from start to finish took no more than three minutes. I had to keep it covered with a Band-Aid for the first 7 days and closely followed the instructions that were given to me. It will be two weeks tomorrow, and although the spot is a little bit lighter than the rest of my skin, I'm hoping in a couple of more days/ weeks the pigment in my skin will match the surrounding skin. I'm just glad that there is no indentation and the area is smooth. Overall, I would recommend Dr. Vafa's radiosurgery and wish I had done it sooner. Hopefully this helps anyone else who may be hesitant to remove a mole on their face because they are nervous of the results. read more

I booked 6 sessions to remove tattoos from my hands. I was sure to play close attention to every session. They use laser machines and adjust the strength at their discretion. The waiver is very detailed and protects them from any complaint. I completed 5 out of 6 sessions and I am very disappointed. Bad service. I got in and came out in 2 mins. I understand that they couldn't remove my mole bc of the place it was in. However, I asked for another service which they didn't have but they did suggest an alternative and at the same time proceeded to tell me I need it not only on my face but also on my neck. Six laser removal sessions for tattoo #1, six sessions for tattoo #2. Both still have *highly pigmented* GREEN ink. These are OLD tattoos (decades old) which, from what I've read and been told by three different cosmetic physicians, should be easier to remove. All of the other colors (red, yellow, orange) are progressing relatively well, but the green remains prominent. I suspect that either, 1). their machines simply cannot remove green ink or 2). the setting on the laser machine is being intentionally set suboptimal to stretch out the laser sessions (i.e. more money). When Dr. Vafa worked on my tattoos (the first two sessions), I saw immediate and significant results. He no longer does tattoo removal. I have had VERY little improvement since the technicians started doing my laser sessions. Then this! During my very first laser session with Dr. Vafa, he explained that the *older* the tattoo, the easier to remove because the ink, due to age, is easier to break down with laser. *My tattoos are over two decades old* I shared this information with the technician during my recent session and asked why such old tattoos are showing near zero improvement over the past four treatments. The technician stated that the older the tattoo, the HARDER it is to remove because the ink has settled into the skin. Incredible! Same facility, polar opposite explanations. What am I to make of this?! I also notice that there is zero pain, zero swelling and zero redness after each treatment. No peeling. No scabbing. No soreness. When Dr. Vafa was doing my laser treatments, I had a bit of swelling and tenderness after each session, and POSITIVE RESULTS. Once the technicians took over I experienced none of these things and also saw no further progress! My take on this: Dr. Vafa was using an effective laser setting. The technicians are using an ineffective laser setting. At this rate, whistling at my tattoos would be just as effective! read more

I've had issues with chronic teeth clenching/grinding for a while and finally discovered that Botox can be used to treat this when injected in the masseter muscle. Dr. Vafa was very professional and informative about what results I should expect and how soon I should start to notice a difference. The procedure was painless and quick! I usually don't post Yelp reviews but I feel as though I have to because I had such an awful experience here. I went to the Soho location and during my time at LaserTouch, I was getting laser hair removal on my legs. After one of my treatments the skin on my legs began to hurt and it turns out I had all of these red scabs all over my legs. Once the scabs went away, I was left with white spots all over my legs where the pigment had disappeared. I went to my dermatologist to have it looked at and he said that the laser was too strong and it left me with hypo-pigmentation. I had to go to get laser treatments at the dermatologist twice a week for 3 months in order to get the pigment back in my skin. It cost me $6,000 to fix it. To make things worse Laser Touch refused to give me any kind of refund. Do not waste your money here!! They are the worst. read more
