I have sensitive skin and I'm also a medical professional myself so when I decided to get my ears pierced, I wanted it done by a nurse with clean and sterile needles. The store itself is cute and clean. There are lots of earring options to choose from and they do a variety of different types of ear piercings. Nurse Jenny did my piercings. She took the time to make sure that the placement was even and symmetrical on both sides of my ear. Also prior to me coming in, she took the time to explain the process and different ways of piercing on the phone. The piercing was done fast and the whole process was walking in to being finally done was probably just about 15 minutes. I had a series of 3 other piercings done here after my initial piercing. Customer service was great and the piercings healed nicely, until the last one. I got a staph infection after just 3 days. I had to go to my primary care doctor and they practically had to hold me down while I screamed in pain. All Rowan did was refer me to their customer service line. I emailed their nurse helpline before, and also visited the store to ask the nurses to evaluate if I should get the piercing removed. Both said they weren't sure, so the nurse consultation really doesn't amount to much other than "go see your doctor." I get that the folks in the boutique are separated from the corporate management but I asked for a refund since I got a STAPH INFECTION after 3 days and they just gave me the run around. I'm really disappointed because I loved the store and its concept. I want to be clear, I think the nurses are just doing their best, but just know that having a nurse pierce your ear does NOT guarantee prevention of infection. I'm very disappointed in their customer support's handling of this. I want to be clear that I saw other piercers, not Olivia for my subsequent piercings, so she's still awesome and my review for her still applies. This is a review for Rowan itself. Final update: finally emailed customer service from the website and got the piercing refunded. So, turns out the store manager here is extremely rude, but Rowan corporate made things right. I feel like they should have better communication on issues like this with their individual stores but want to be clear who has and has not helped me out here. read more

I came to this location due to the Google reviews and because they needlessly pierce, have titanium flat back barrels and 14k+ jewelry. This locations plaza has a lot of great shops and while the parking was plentiful, finding a spot was a little challenge due to weekend traffic and Central Market. I made an appointment beforehand and if you want to factor costs I suggest calling the location before going. It's been decades since my last piercing and this is not something my 16 year old self could have afforded. I chose needle piercing even though they offer gun, but I would never. After spending $35 per ear piercing and $69 per earring and $20 for aftercare plus tax I was in the $230 range. Be careful on the tip option, it adds on top of all purchased items and if you just want to tip for the service you will need to add it on the custom option. It was super quick. There's a chair to get pierced behind a wall and then two other chairs that are out in the open shop so if you prefer to have a little space to yourself, advocate for that. Jenny did my piercing she was nice and quick. I really loved their real gold jewelry options and the prices were decent, I think the benefit is seeing them in person me being able to see how they would look on you as opposed to ordering things online. Coming back in 30 to downsize and get another pair of earrings. The to-go bag was cute and has all the info you need for aftercare. read more

All the employees were very nice & professional. I have no complaints about that. But for all the measuring she did with the special measurement tools my piercings are not level. It's very noticeable to the eye that they are off. I had made a suggestion as to how we could insure they would at least look straight to the eye and it was not considered. I was told I couldn't touch my ears after she cleaned them despite me having just thoroughly washed my hands. So now I have crooked piercings. And it is VERY pricey. The experience was just fine - but nothing more than that. They didn't do anything special for my nervous child. We were done in 5 minutes. Also they sent me a coupon that was worded funny so it didn't count towards the piercing. And the solution was another $20 which wasn't listed on the website. The atmosphere here is great, and scheduling appointments was a breeze. However, I'm giving 2 stars due to a frustrating experience with my daughters' piercings. After having one of each of their earrings come out shortly after the initial piercing, I had to bring them back in to have their ears re-pierced. The first time, I was only charged for the earrings, which I thought was fair. But for the second daughter, I was charged for both the earrings and a piercing fee. The manager explained it was due to their 30-day piercing policy, but given that you typically need to wait 8 weeks before re-piercing, this felt inconsistent. Considering this happened with both daughters and cost me over $450 for two sets of piercings, I was expecting better customer service and some kind of compensation for the inconvenience. I hope they consider reevaluating their policies, especially for situations like this read more

My seven-year-old niece wanted to get her ears pierced, so after researching the best places for kiddos, we decided on Rowan. Rachel was our nurse, and she was absolutely amazing with my niece! She was calming, asked her lots of questions to ensure she was comfortable, and we got it done with no tears! My sister and I also got piercings with Rachel, and we're very happy with them. I've had bad piercing experiences in the past and this one was quick and almost painless. It was pricier than some other places, but you definitely get what you pay for here. I want to share our recently horrible experience at Rowan... and would never recommend this location for piercing. The price of earrings and piercing is high, which doesn't mean quality. They claim to have trained nurses administering the piercings, however, my daughter ended up in the emergency room 6 weeks later to have an earring back surgically removed from her earlobe. They pierced my daughter's right ear THREE TIMES and never realized their mistake. It seemed like they didn't know how to use the piercing guns. To add this, I was told to contact customer service for reimbursement of the medical bill, but they have denied my claim saying that too much time has passed and will not assist. It seems to me that a business owner would go above and beyond to rectify a situation where the technicians were negligent and a customer had to to go the emergency room. They are refusing to reimburse a $150 bill. :/ They didn't even take the time to make a phone call to discuss this with me. This is our experience: My daughter wanted her ears pierced for her 9th birthday and heard about Rowan. Two nurses pierced my daughter's ears at the same time. One side went through, but the earring back didn't connect and she had to manually attached the back. The other side didn't go through and had to be repierced. The nurse couldn't find the earring back and assumed it fell on the ground. She took out the front of the earring and attempted a 2nd piercing. This time, she used a mismatched earring from the already pierced ear.... one was a heart and one was a butterfly. So, the nurse had to attempt a 3rd piercing which seemed to stick this time. Over the course of the next 6 weeks, my daughter complained of pain in earlobe and had difficulty twisting the earring, which we were told to do to prevent infection. The earlobe never got infected until the back fell off at school. The school nurse attempted to take out the earring, but it was stuck in her ear for some reason. I got home and looked at her ear lobe and saw a bump on the back, seeming like something was in the piercing hole holding the earring in. I took her to a local children's hospital urgent care and was told the earring back was embedded in her earlobe.... it had been there for almost 6 weeks and the skin had begun to grow over. They had to surgically remove the earring back from her earlobe. My poor daughter was traumatized by both of these events and this is how customer service responded: "Hi Keri, Thank you for sharing the details of your experience with us. We truly value your feedback and appreciate the time you took to provide us with the necessary information. We've carefully considered your request after reviewing the documentation you provided. Unfortunately, the timeframe between your daughter's piercing and when you sought medical attention falls outside our standard period for compensation claims. As a result, we're unable to offer compensation in this instance. We understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment this may cause. Your satisfaction is incredibly important to us, and we regret that we weren't able to meet your expectations on this occasion. Thank you for your understanding and for allowing us to address your concerns. Best regards, Team Rowan" I say shame on you Rowan for your lack of concern or care. Went to Rowan on a whim while leaving Central Market. I received two upper lobe piercings. Nurse was very friendly and gentle. They work hard to upsell you on their earrings. I fell for it and bought an over $100 helix curved CZ (single) earring. The post broke after two days clean off the back of the earring after TOWEL drying my hair. I was so angry that I couldn't even bear to go back. I don't know their policy on refunds for quickly broken merchandise. Two stars given for the friendly nurse. I paid over $320 for two upper lobe piercings, one pair of stud earrings and one helix earring (I already had the piercing) their jewelry is junk. Also, the establishment looks to be geared towards the Claire's age crowd. read more

Hi. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I am late giving this review. My daughter and I had our ears pierced several months ago. Although, we were both diligent with the cleaning and even bought two cleanser bottles I still got an ear-piercing infection. My daughter and I sprayed our ears at least twice daily for six weeks which is well over the prescribed amount of time. Fortunately, it was only my ear that was infected. The pain was so intolerable I had to take the piercing out. Unfortunately, the ear-piercing holes have grown together which means that I will have to get them re-pierced (costing more money). Also, we were supposed to get some sort of numbing cream (not sure exactly what) but I requested it, but it turns out we never received the numbing agent. Thankfully, my daughter thought she was so brave. In addition, with tip and purchasing two cleanser bottles the total was over $300. You do NOT need two bottles. I am usually heavy handed with tipping, but I walked out not feeling great about being sold two bottles of cleanser, asking for a tip on the entire amount and then got an infection. I did call about the infection but the lady just said to see a doctor. This is just my experience and I apologize for the delay. I HATE leaving bad reviews (check my history) but this was my experience. read more

10/10 recommend Rowan! I came in for a second lobe piercing in both ears and let them know upfront that I tend to pass out and they were beyond accommodating! Chairs recline so I could lay down, they had a juice box on deck, and were able to pierce both ears simultaneously. Best experience ever! read more

This is the best place for piercing. My daughter was so excited but also nervous. It's a cute and pretty place with a nice atmosphere. They welcomed her in, helped her feel comfortable, and quickly pierced both ears. I am impressed that the ears aren't even red! The quality and safety is obvious and although it's expensive, I would suggest to everyone! I know she's be telling her friends how great this place is and it barely even hurt. read more

I had the most amazing time! I came in with a severely embedded piercing (from getting pierced somewhere back home) and the nurse was super sweet, informative, and hopeful. she was able to save my piercing.
