We went here for the first time since CoVID on Xmas Eve to splurge on a nice dinner. They're doing a great job on the distancing, their ordering website is awesome and I love that it lets you easily make modifications. You can also call to make orders. Everything was delicious. I loved that the drink I got was in a little tiny bottle, I was worried about spillage but that made it so easy. Everything was perfectly labeled when we got hone so there was no confusion on what was what. I also loved that they gave happy hour prices for takeout. I was struggling to find a brunch place that didn't have an hour-long wait on a Sunday morning around 11am. Luckily, I happened to find this place on Yelp and am very pleased! It was about half to three-quarters full during our meal. I almost don't want to write a review about it so I can keep coming without a long wait... Food-wise is where they shined. I had the Croque Madame and loved every bite of it. The bechamel sauce or whatever cheesy sauce they drizzled over everything was divine. Someone else had the cauliflower chilaquiles and another had a flatbread with sausage and fennel. All four of us completely ate our dishes and licked the plate clean. Delightful and they are now supporting take out. I'll remember to hit them up on the weekend for a delicious brunch to go when I finally run out of food in my fridge! read more

If it's been a while since you've been in to Joli, and you wanted to like it, but never felt it quite hit the spot, I suggest giving it another go. I have been twice recently & loving the current iteration. The menu includes lots of shareable veggie or light bite options as well as full entrée plates making it great as a dinner spot but equally lovely for cocktails. I love that the cocktail menu highlights everything along the spectrum of gin options. read more

I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night, and there was no wait to be seated, but it was a little unclear if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. Eventually someone came over and showed us to a table. They seemed a bit understaffed and slow the whole night, but the servers were definitely friendly. The portions are a decent size, not large, and very well flavored. My dad enjoyed his roasted chicken, and the flavoring on my pacific rockfish was excellent, although the fish itself was a bit overdone and tough. We shared the mixed greens salad, which had great flavors, but was pretty light on all the toppings. The lemonade was watered down and nothing special. Overall, pretty good food and friendly service (if a bit slow), but not one of my favorites that I've tried in Seattle. read more

This was a great new find! Friendly staff and excellent offerings. Our experience started off with Happy Hour cocktails, I enjoyed a 'Ginger Rogers' (pomegranate/ginger/sparkling wine/topo chico). We decided on ordering a few HH priced appetisers in lieu of main entrées. Another point for Joli: Shoe-string fries!!!! They are my favourite version of fried potato goodness; I was so happy to see them brought to the table! The butter lettuce wedge salad was crisp and fresh, lightly dressed with a champagne vinaigrette. Next came the mushroom flatbread (kale/sauce mornay/cured egg yolk/chili oil). It was crispy, full of fresh mushrooms and cheesy goodness. Lastly we enjoyed the mussels & fennel (smoked potato/preserved lemon/cream). We were pleasantly surprised by the plump and tender seafood. The sauce was really good and we enjoyed sipping it up when all the mussels were eaten. What a great first experience at Joli and I look forward to returning. read more

So so so happy to have stumbled across this amazing gem of a restaurant for our monthly group brunch. We were 10 women and everything was spectacular from accommodating a large group via reservations, to inviting and warm service to SENSATIONAL food. Absolutely outstanding food!! Everything came out at the same time, we were never empty in drinks, it was busy and so well attended to. What a fabulous must try spot. It's gorgeous inside, sunny, and perfect. We definitely will be back!! I had the croque madam, it came with yummy potatoes incl. bell peppers and onions. It was delicious and I highly recommend this!! The malasada was amazing also, I've never had anything like it. Our table also had pretty much almost everything else on the brunch menu and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it all. Raves all around. Had been wanting to try Joli for quite some time and finally went in for dinner recently. Would not recommend the chorizo corn dogs as they didn't have much flavor in my opinion. The mushroom risotto is really good, flavorful and felt 'lighter', great quality and preparation. The steak frites was my favorite, served with a really nice chimichuri. My wife and I first came to Joli in 2021 and frankly were not impressed. We came back in this weekend for a second chance and had our opinion swayed. We had the ribs, the squash salad, broccolini, and their sorbet - I can not describe how AMAZING our meal was and we are anxious to come back again. 5/5 We did however feel that the service could have been better. For a place that offers such craft food and gin centric cocktails - we would have hoped for more lively staff to accentuate the restaurant's driving features. I really wanted to love Joli and came away a fan, but with caveats. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. The bartender and server were very pleasant and my drinks were excellent. It is a little funky in that there is a movie with no sound projected on the wall. We were watching Dr. No a bit here and there in between conversation and conversation about it. We ordered the beet salad with whipped chevre, pickled fiddleheads, and chimichurri. Each contributed to a balanced salad and both my wife and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the house-made noodles with pork ragu of sorts. In my first bite, which was heavy with meat, there was a strange burst of intense flavor that knocked me off my bottom. I thought it was a juniper berry and that was later confirmed. It did not please my palate and set me back. Trying again, the juniper blew me away in an unpleasant way and my palette had to recover yet again. It was a major distraction in my enjoyment. I have to say that despite loads of meat, the sauce lacked in complexity. There were depth and unctuousness that I kept looking for and did not find; it tasted of pork, but little else. I envied my wife's burger in a lettuce wrap which was very tasty. Her fried green beans were also desirable. We'll likely be back and choose other dishes. I'd like to try the steak frites. read more

Unfortunately, two of the other dishes were extremely salty (truffle fries and cauliflower dish) and the pork belly salad was grainy. Despite that, we're glad we tried it out. Well....I'm not sure what to say about Joli. A large (20) group of us went here for dinner on the recommendation of a classmate, and we were so impressed, I'm speechless.... Okay, not really. But I'm not sure what I could write that would adequately depict what a gem this place is. While parking can be a bit of a challenge, it's worth the one or two block walk to snag a table or a seat at the bar and experience what I can only describe as fun-chic. The owner was bartending, and as per my usual test, had him make me several drinks off-menu, based on my personal preference and my request to help me learn to love gin (they have 60+ on the shelves). The drinks were awesome. Seriously, seriously awesome, and Matt the owner is incredibly knowledgeable. On to the food! I had the steak frites, but we also had fried olives (a MUST), Brussels sprouts, two different flatbreads, and fried green beans. I wanted my steak rare, and it was absolutely perfect. Cool and tender in the center, with great flavor. The fries are thinner, so very crispy, and I can't talk about the sprouts or the olives without starting to drool. I wish I'd had room for dessert, but....maybe next time. The service is very friendly, and they sneak in and out like stealth water suppliers and food servers. Everything is clean, the kitchen is efficient, and it's small enough to be intimate but big enough for groups. As if it couldn't get any better, there's a movie playing on the wall for you to watch (nothing like vintage Bond with your steak). I don't get down to Ballard often, but they also have brunch which might convince me to make the two hour drive. Overall, a fantastic experience and worth the trip. read more

This place is absolutely lovely. I have been twice during happy hour (Sunday all day) The staff is welcoming, the food is fantastic and the house wine is well picked. They have a happy hour white, red, sparkling and rose, which are all wonderful. The ambiance is very nice, with an open kitchen and a French movie playing in the background. I have never been on a date here but I think it might be the perfect spot. I, however was alone and had a fantastic time as well. I have not had all the happy hour food, however the things I can absolutely recommend are the olives, steak bites, and the pork. If you listen to one thing in this 10/10 rating. Get the pork. Asked for a gin martini with a gin that wasn't too herbal; surely waiter gives me a lecture about gin is made with an herb, as if I am stupid. Fortunately bartender steps in and is kind and understands that I want less botanical. We had the bread, mussels and shared a chicken sandwich. All of it only ok. Butter that camw with the bread was garlic and honey.....neither sweet nor savory. Does not work. Mussels cooked perfectly but the light broth was overpowering and lacked umami. Just ok. Chicken sandwich sounded delicious, but failed to meet the bar, spread was overpoweringly spicy, chicken was good and crunchy. Just ok. Last visit there was pre-pandemic and it wa awesome. This time - not so much. Last visit there I think. $100 for "meh" food and surly service is not ok. read more

We ordered each item but really enjoyed the hanger steak tacos. The food was delicious as were the drinks. We're excited to check it out when they have their normal menu! My Husband had a spicy bloody mary, I had a Red Snapper which is a bloody mary made with Gin! Good Yumminess. Then our food arrived, I had the veggie burger with an egg and home fries, my husband had chicken and waffles, and our friend had the breakfast sandwich with bacon... ALL AMAZING. Home fries are normally good, but not this good. Not sure how they had so much flavor with the potato soft on the inside and crispy on the outside... so perfect. If you have not tried it, this is one of the MUST GO places in Seattle... dinner, Happy Hour, parties, brunch, girls night out, romantic dinner, date night... all alone... the staff is friendly, the menu is awesome and the environment is comfortable. We walked in for dinner last night and had a pretty disappointing meal... -oysters were good! -two ginger beers were way too sweet, very few NA options -bread came with a disgusting gooey mustard with raisins mixed in, all almost a honey texture. very odd. we asked for butter instead and it came out hard as a rock -brussels, which we've gotten before, were extra sweet and sugary -meatballs were sticky and had so much fennel it was really overpowering -worst for last: we split the halibut, which came out cold but wasn't listed as a cold dish, and I asked the server if it was meant to be cold and she said "sort of, the sauce is"... all in all it was $110 with the only OK part of the meal being the three oysters for $13. read more

Glad I found this hidden gem between green lake and Ballard. Came here for a late night HH dinner and it was great! We had cocktails, steak bites, green bean fries, and deviled eggs from the HH menu as well as the blue crab risotto from the regular menu. The steak bites and blue crab risotto were my favorite dishes but you really can't go wrong here. The service was quick and there was no wait for a table which was great. Stopped into Joli for happy hour with a friend and will definitely be back! We decided to stick to the happy hour menu which had a pretty long list of options for both food and drink. All of this was broken down into pricing from 3-8ish dollars. We tried a variety of snack options: pesto bruschetta, ham and cheese bites, and brown bag fries. All of these bites were super delicious and we kept talking abut how amazingly flavored the food was, spiced just right! I definitely want to come back and try more. We found this restaurant by walking in the area and decided to stop on for some food and I was delightedly surprised by not only the ambiance but food and drinks. The drinks were delicious, I'm not normally a huge gin fan but I loved the signature cocktail options. We ordered the gnocchi and smoked chicken and it was arguably the best thing I'd ever eaten. Perfectly cooked and flavored to melt in your mouth. The service from the staff was amazing, the bartender made our experience the best with such an array of knowledge on the drinks and flavors offered in the food. Right when I walked in the first thing that caught my attention was the music. I thought it was my playlist playing in the background. Straight up had tribe called quest playing and i could tell off the bat this place was going to be dope. Heard this place was the spot for all day HH on Sunday. Check it! Food was and drink was bomb! Shoutout to the bartender, I Forgot his name but he made really good Old fashions & was a down to earth dude. Great service from the get! Portions were perfect especially for being HH. The falafel burger is excellent, as are the truffle fries. My friends had the sausage flatbread, the chicken Sammie, and the pork belly sliders - seems like everything was a hit. Definitely recommend this place for Sunday brunch! I'm only docking a point since everything and every side just felt very...fried. I left the meal craving a non breaded non fried vegetable It would be nice to have a few more (I think they had salads but I don't really want a salad during Sunday brunch?) balanced items to offset all the carbs and oil.
