They are visibly Muslim and wear headscarves. When they approached the counter, the baristas immediately told them they "couldn't make" them anything. When my sisters tried to ask what was available, they were repeatedly cut off and given no real explanation. They left thinking the shop may have closed early. But moments later they watched the staff continue serving other customers who walked in after them, including making the same drinks my sisters had asked for. This was not a misunderstanding. My sisters were singled out and denied service while others were served normally. What makes this even worse is that my sisters have supported this business for a long time. They've brought friends and family there and regularly purchased their beans. To treat loyal customers this way is shocking and unacceptable. I am genuinely concerned for any visibly Muslim person walking into this location. No one should have to worry about being refused service simply because they wear a headscarf. Management needs to investigate what happened at this store immediately. This kind of treatment has no place in any business, let alone one that claims to welcome the community. I sincerely hope management takes this seriously, investigates what happened on April 11, and addresses it publicly.
