The chef is a culinary genius. His palate pairings combined with incorporating local/seasonal ingredients keep the menu exciting. Husband and I went for a rare date night since we had a sitter. I was bummed that they were out of the butter board, so we had charcuterie bread and ordered mains from the fall menu. My complaint was that service was slow for it not being packed and they had a lot of staff. There was a big portion sectioned off for a party but it was empty. Since there was not a lot of seating, we were squished at the bar. My dirty martinis were pretty pricey. They charged for the alcohol separate, then the two little olives, and the olive juice like itemized. I don't think I've ever been charged per ingredient like that. And the olives weren't special or gourmet. I've had bowls of hand stuffed, extra large, blue cheese olives at Rouxpour complimentary with my drink. Anywho, lots of regular customers so that's always a good sign. I'd come back for seasonal dishes or happy hour.

Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Only critique was that the "Bob Ross" chicken was bland. They were fried perfectly golden brown but the chicken needed to be seasoned.

The food here is like an experience. So many unique/ different flavored dishes . It's my husband's and I's favorite " date night spot " it's a small town / local tavern / restaurant. I don't feel like calling it a " tavern " does it justice . It's not just fried finger foods and beer , it's well designed chef inspired meals . After Covid it went through a bit of a " change " like a lot of small businesses did . And during the transition there were some hiccups but I think it's back to being its best self . With revolving food menus & DRINK menus there's always something new to look forward to trying . Service is typically pretty good but of course depends on the night and how busy they are .

This place is so damn cozy! Perfect lighting, perfect decor, just perfect. Loved their Friendswood 75 and had wine afterwards since they were having a happy hour special. We split the Belgian fries and the sauces were delicious; mix them together for even more tasty delight! The staff was excellent... this is the kind of place you feel right at home at immediately. They've got so much to offer, be it suggestions or great conversation. I was informed that their menu will be consistently changing and I think that's wicked fun. All the more reason to go back more often!

WowZa! The food here is fantastic! The hubs and I stopped by to give it a whirl and had a great dinner at B 1895. The pesto pasta and the tavern tots were delish! I loved the margarita and the hubs old Fashioned cocktail. The bartender (forgot his name, but if you've been you know) was phenomenal and gave too notch attention, recommendations, and overall customer service. Definitely looking forward to stopping back by for brunch sooner than later! Great find! Cheers!

Does this place still sell the Lamb Rogan Josh and is it available everyday?

No , their menu is completely different .

I'm pretty anti- "foie gras". Is there a way to have "plain" cream gravy with the Chicken Fried Steak, instead?

It's honestly the best Chicken Fried steak you will ever get!!! Amazing...

They had a very comprehensive wine menu and a nice list of cocktails. I got an old-fashioned and the wife got a Coke zero and they were brought fast. I chose the regular old-fashioned over the smoked and it was fantastic; a little on the sweet side for my taste but still very good. We ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer, and it came really quickly and was excellent. Wife ordered the ribeye with mixed vegetables and roasted potatoes. She said it was fantastic cooked just the way she liked it and at a reasonable price. I ordered a bowl of the lobster bisque and a side order of the brussels sprouts. The bisque was a little thin, but loaded with lobster and full flavored. Now the brussels sprouts were fantastic. Seasoned really well lots of bacon slightly crisp. I would go back there just for the brussels sprouts. I also ordered the focaccia bread and it was great for dipping in the lobster bisque. This is a nice little restaurant got a great neighborhood feel to it. We thought the service was fantastic and the food excellent. We will definitely be back to try some other things on the menu. Wow. WOW is the word to describe this place…read more Let me tell you about Bella the bartender, the BEST bartender I have ever encountered in my entire life. And listen, I'm basically a certified alcoholic (just kidding... allegedly), so trust me when I say I know a good drink when I taste one. I've sampled enough lovely liquors in my day to know what's good and what's just overpriced sadness in a glass. Bella is COMMITTED to her craft. She literally told me she studies cocktail recipes day and night. Like... how cute is that? Meanwhile I can barely commit to folding my laundry. Then she proceeds to make me the SMOOTHEST, yummiest espresso martini my tastebuds have ever had the privilege of experiencing. One sip and I was astonished, emotional, slightly turned on, all of the above. This woman has the shake hands of a goddess. I think I fell in love a little bit. Also, shoutout to the super friendly man in the Hawaiian shirt and Bob Ross-style beret. He brought immaculate vibes to the whole place and made the experience even better (for the most part). Anyways, the drinks at this place are phenomenal. 1000% give this place a try. And if you get Bella as your bartender, congratulations- you ARE one of God's favorites.

They had our table already prepared which was fantastic, but the restaurant was slow and not very busy. We could've just walked in and, other than having to wait for them to prepare our table, been seated right away. Our waitress, Moriah, was fantastic! She had tables on opposite sides of the restaurant, but since they weren't very busy it didn't seem to be an issue. There were a couple of times when we had to ask for drink refills, but it wasn't horrible. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was good, and I appreciate that they have some options that you wouldn't find just anywhere. That's the kind of thing I look for in a restaurant. However there were a few places where they fell short. 1. There was no kids menu. This may not be a big deal for a lot of people. It wasn't a big deal for me since my toddler eats pretty much anything, so we shared. It WAS however a big deal for my 6 year-old niece who does NOT eat anything. They told my sister that they could make some butter noodles or take the harissa off of a pizza and make it a smaller size for her. She opted for the butter noodles which were bland and unseasoned. Then they have no salt or pepper on the tables so she couldn't even season them until she asked for some. It helped, but they still weren't very good. 2. The food is overpriced. It's good food, but the prices were a little steep compared to the quality. My sister and I discussed this later and we both had the same thought. We didn't understand why they weren't busy because they had the potential to be, and it just felt like they maybe were trying TOO hard. I would go back, but this wouldn't be a regular choice for me. I'd be happy to go if someone chose this as an option, and I might even choose to go back for a date night or something. I like the atmosphere of the place as well as how open it felt... I don't love a crowded space. Another thing I loved was the Smoked Caramel Bread Pudding. I'm surprised I liked it so much because I don't typically love added smoke flavor, but this worked! Listen, I LOVE bread pudding. If there's ever bread pudding on the menu, I'm going to get it. This being my birthday dinner dessert was absolutely fine by me. The edges were a little caramelized and it was absolutely delicious and everyone who tried it agreed. Give this place a try, but just know that you may pay a little more than what it's worth. It's still tasty food though! Also... try the bread pudding!

Bottom line, plenty of spaces. Side note, they're not all spaced the way you might expect. Walking in, the place was hopping. Much more crowded than the former business. Pretty good sized menu. They serve you the red salsa, but you can ask for the green. The kind that gives you heart burn for hours. Worth it. Both salsa were great, chips were fresh. We ordered house margaritas, and those were also very good. Pricing was average. For food we ordered the parrillada El Malecon. Mixed beef and chicken, with ribs and quail. Here's where things went a little rough. We ordered the "for two" but the entire was still in a " for one" portion. 3 pieces of steak, 3 chicken, one quail 2 rib portions. Definitely seemed off. The manager came by, and we discussed. On THEIR menu, the double portion is only 4 strips of steak, 4 of chicken, still only one quail, and two rib portions. The reasoning we were given is that people don't seem to like the quail. First, nothing about this is "for two." For 45.99 this isn't it. The chicken and beef were good, the quail was not seasoned well unfortunately, and the ribs were over sauced with a cheap syrupy sauce. Overall food was a no. But here's where I also have to give credit. They stuck with their defense, and while we discussed someone brought a plate of chicken and beef. While we weren't going to ask for anything, we do appreciate their thoughtfulness and speedy resolution. Maybe they knew it was coming , or maybe they just jumped ahead to make it work. Either way, we appreciated that effort. Overall, service was great, food was 50/50. Wouldn't do the parrilladas again, but would try other menu items.

I also planned to order things I either had never tried before or that I rarely eat. Every single course gave me everything I needed. First course: chawanmushi. A deliciously savory egg custard dish with shrimp, chicken and mushrooms. From looking at it you're not sure if your going to like it but WOW! The custard itself was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the shrimp and chicken made it more than just an egg custard and the mushroom...idk what kind of mushroom it was but it kinda tasted like a flavorful meatball and was SO delicious. SECOND COURSE: Tuna tartare - an award winning chef must craft these dishes because the flavor profiles of the food and way they put different ingredients together that you wouldn't expect is nothing short of culinary wizardry. The tuna with the mango with the cucumber and onions and everything was incredible fresh. Impeccable. Third course: Beef curry. Absolutely amazing! The beef was super tender, the curry had a light hint of Coconut, everything was seasoned to perfection and there wasn't a single grain of jasmine rice that was undercooked. The carrots in the curry were perfectly cooked. Dessert: mango sticky rice. The rice perfectly cooked. The mango was perfectly sliced and super fresh and the sauce, I'm guessing it wasa condensed milk and sugar mixture. It was delicious and comforting. Basically a delicious mango rice pudding after pouring the sauce on it. Artistry: The food was all plated and presented to me beautifully. It was nothing less than edible art and they clearly put care and heart into not just the taste but the look of the food. Parking is plentiful, service is top tier and the ambience is lovely, well decorated and clean. I'll definitely be back. They also had plenty of variety for every diet. I would eat the pho here again. Banh xeo was HUGE. It was delicious and the greens they provided with were abundant. Service was great and attentive. The server was very respectful and made sure to do the accommodations I requested (no cilantro). Now for the cons. The pork bun was too dry. Bun Bo hue was actually so incorrect. The seasoning and broth were not right. No hints of lemongrass anywhere. It's like they created their own recipe and called it bun bo hue. The good thing about this restaurant is that there's something for everyone in terms of Asian cuisine. I'm glad I got to try samples of everyone's dish to get a feel of how they run things in the kitchen. Some things need serious improvement while others were excellent; and that's okay. 4/5.
