Rice noodle with egg and beef
    Jeff C.

Did early dinner to avoid crowds and find street parking. Service was excellent, staff very helpful & friendly and provide great recommendations on dishes. The rice clay pots take awhile to cook, to get the bottom rice crispy, well worth it, expect at least 30-45 mins. We other other dishes to supplement dinner, beef brisket rice noodle with eggs, chefs special eggplant stuff with meat casserole, shrimp curry rice noodles with fish ball , salty fish & chicken fried rice, pork rib rice clay pot, eel with roast pork rice clap pot, and ginger milk

I took out these as showing photos but I wasn't so impressed on December 27th, 2025. Probably because they are focused on Clay Pot dining there. Photos from others on yelp looked great but mine came out very differently even I was showing photos of Yelp on my order. Chicken was cooked very long time before I came in to restaurant. It was cold when I came home only one block away. Very bad idea to serve like that. I was hoping they cook on my order for hot chicken. Although staff members were very nice and friendly, man took my order offered me hot tea while I was waiting for 3 items. It was very nice. He would get 5 stars but not for the good.

I had clay pot rice back to back days so I can firmly say that Claypot Cafe has the best clay pot rice! The flavors are perfect and adding tea to get the crispy rice at the end was the best. They are doing a fresh coconut chicken soup in a Claypot now and it comes with a fresh coconut and chicken. It is paired with veggies, beef, and rice noodles. Their lemon tea is so refreshing also. Absolutely love this place.

Came on a freezing day around 6 and got seated right away! At first there wasn't that many people, but then it started filling up. We got the beef clay pot, beef rice roll and shrimp rice roll. For the clay pot it was a tad bit dry, I wish it came with sauce but it was still good. I also wish the rice rolls were a bit thicker as it was really thin so it kept breaking. Overall it was still good!

Yet another great meal once again unagi beef clay pot , mince beef, egg yolk clay pot, garlic with pea pod stems and choy sum with garlic, scallion pancake , salt and pepper chicken wings and lemon ice tea to was it down nicely service was quick and efficient as always and the ambiance was perfect. If you haven't tried it you better stop by and do it before you regret it. Perfect taste and ingredients just right. We also had the tofu and fish casserole didn't survive for pictures just like the chicken wings and gyoza too. Plenty to take home for next day just a good tasting too. We will be back to try other delicious dishes so many different dishes sound so good too.

Came here with some friends after running a 5K in Allston. I ordered the salted chicken claypot rice, and overall it was pretty average. The rice to chicken ratio was off. By the end, I was left with half a bowl of plain rice. The chicken itself was tender and flavorful, but the portion was very small, and the meal wasn't filling at all.

Life is short. F...it up! Family, Flavor, Friends Kimberly on a Friday evening to check this out before the crowd came in. Very traditional clay pot restaurant that you would expect in a real traditional restaurant. We got two types of clay pots with chicken and the pork both were very savory and very good but I do suggest asking for extra soy sauce. It's a sweet soy sauce that they gave you to pour over the rice they seasoned it, but maybe not to your liking but each bite reminded me of the way Grandma used to make it. For those of you for the first time checking it out careful they chop up the chicken, including the bones so eat slowly. We also got the rice noodles and chicken wings. Both were very good. Definitely recommend.

I went to this place as we recently had amazing claypot rice in Toronto and wanted to try something more local to home. The videos on instagram made this place look really good, but I was sadly disappointed when I brought my family here. We tried a noodle dish, a rice roll, 2 clay pots and some wings. The food was just very meh. Flavors were just okay, nothing wowing or worthy of dining out for. Not sure if it was just an off night for them or what. This place is a little outside the heart of allston, towards super 88 side. Parking is possible but you may need to circle around a bit. The restaurant is decent sized and the staff were friendly at least. I probably won't go here again.

Really delicious. The rice is perfectly cooked--it's not too hard, but the bottom rice is wonderfully crunchy. Each rice pot comes out piping hot. My favorite is the spare ribs--not too bony with nice flavor. The place is MUCH bigger and classier than their Chinatown location. I think it's perfect for bringing family or a friends to. The place is run by a couple of Asian aunties who were friendly. Unlike many restaurants these days, we were offered free complimentary hot tea, rather than water.

This was my first time trying Cantonese food and it did not disappoint! The ambiance of clay pot is a very classic Chinese mom and pop restaurant, it was very simple and casual. The menu is large with lots of different options. You have to advocate a bit for service, but our waitresses were super friendly! I split the shrimp rice noodles with friends which was classic and delicious - the noodles are soft and bouncy and wrap lots of shrimp! For my main dish I got the combo pork preserve claypot - I really liked the pork a lot. It was salty and savory, I think next time I would opt for only pork instead of the combo with other meats personally. The claypot was hot and made the rice nice and crispy, the egg melted over beautifully.

Minced Beef Claypot Rice免治牛煲仔飯: Surprisingly, the minced beef was served in a thickened meat sauce. However, the seasoning was a bit bland, so I added three extra spoonfuls of soy sauce. Spare Rib Claypot Rice排骨煲仔飯: The spare ribs were carefully selected, all easy-to-eat small ribs with a rich meaty flavor. Salted Fish Claypot Rice鹹魚肉餅煲仔飯: I forgot to take a picture, but I didn't see any salted fish, while the patty had a distinct musty aroma from the fish--did it dissolve in the claypot? The pork patty was tender and smooth, simply divine. Hong Kong-style Iced Milk Tea港式凍奶茶: It tasted authentic, but as always, it was a bit bland. Convenient Chinatown main district location near the excellent bakeries next door I visit for Chinese pastries . I saw a picture of the meat combo of duck, char sue, pork belly, white rice, hot Vegetables. I ordered the combo, an appetizer of pan fried dumplings. Nice Asian restaurant environment, but not a spot to enjoy a lengthy dinner with soothing music ambience or sipping hot tea... a busy no nonsense kitchen type eating place with yelling, bone chopping. The hanging appetizing cooked ducks, pork, chicken creates the vibe of a China town experience. Quick service, nice hot tea in kettle offering. The combo meat platter was cold slices of meat , rice a bit cold too. Vegetables fresh, hot but needed more . The duck meat was boney and not much duck meat or select pieces. Char sui was salty , few pieces. The pork belly was very good and needed more. I didn't compare my combo picture with the one I saw from 1 year ago and mine looks 1/2 the quantity of meat and vegetable.. the pic last year displays beefy pieces vs. my meat that looks like my animals are starved before preparing for my plating. I understand inflation reduced portions , but I would rather have last year's picture at a higher price. The pan fried dumplings not impressed as had much better elsewhere. These were too doughy and not a nice flavor or texture. I didn't see anything to be impressed with my dining outing and nothing to be offended by with either except boney malnourished duck pieces of cold meat . Other noodle dishes, rice dishes I saw other diners order were fresh hot and definitely appealing, abundant and worthy to try. Maybe the combo was a bad choice and a just a hot duck dish may have been better option here... clearly the hanging food was freshly prepared. Prices were fair , my waitress , server very pleasant , clean restaurant and no issues with that. I might look to try the hot duck at the other locations with a bit better expectations for ambiance and conversational luncheon environment. The baked egg custard pastry, creme coffee sponge cakes after for desert were excellent from bakery down the street.

We came for a family dinner and of course Grandma Ding was with us in her wheelchair. We only smashed into a few chairs in the big, crowded dining room. And fortunately other customers were understanding while the staff was helpful and accommodating. The small, curious child running around the dining room without parental supervision didn't get hurt when I ran him over. The menu was huge so it took a long time to order with Grandma asking questions about every item. I could see that the waitstaff was used to quick orders and rapid food delivery to the table, but the waiter remained kind and patient. He also repeated his answers loudly when she couldn't understand his English and because she didn't have her hearing aides turned up. We finally ordered a giant wonton soup, eggplant with garlic sauce, a shrimp dish, and orange chicken; all to share. Everything was fresh, hot, tasty and delicious. Grandma Ding did have to ask for the soup to be heated up because she likes it to be scalding. The dining room is worn and dishes were flying in and out as items were served and cleared. It's definitely a place for family meals, not one for an engagement proposal or romance. Perfect for our evening. Portions are generous and prices competitive with other restaurants in the area.
