I opted for a beef sandwich and it was certainly tastier and more satisfying than anything from the local cafeteria: quality beef combined with a rich creamy sauce and fresh greens housed inside a toasted bun. Not only were Rick and Rosana, the proprietors of this fabulous food truck super friendly, their creative minds has resulted in some amazing fusion inspired submarine sandwiches, hence the name. I was at Helix Brewery when I ordered the Caprese from this truck at $8.75 One I though that was very cool that they did for this Caprese, which was a take on a Mexcian "quesataco" where they grilled to white cheese to give it a nice brown color and added crunchy texture. This was present in Caprese via the fresh and delicious mozzarella cheese. Along with the incredible griddles mozzarella cheese, the Caprese came with ripe and juicy tomatoes, fresh cut basil leaves, and a thyme-mint pesto sauce topped with a drizzle of porcini truffle balsamic reduction all on a soft warm roll. The contributed to the overall success of the sandwich was it nice flavor and a bit of a chew. All the ingredients and flavor went very well together and the Caprese was up there with one of the best I have every had. We are lucky to have food trucks come to our work especially when I don't have time to make food; let's say our hospital cafe is sub par! Unfortunately I was disappointed with my choice. I was excited to have a caprese sandwich but it didn't meet my expectations. Not only was I dissatisfied but paying $12 for a sandwich and drink made it worse! The caprese looked great but as I unwrapped my sandwich all the oil started to drip everywhere. I chose the caprese as I thought it was the healthier option but I felt grossly full after eating it. The chicken was dry, not enough balsamic dressing, & did I mention the OIL!! I thought it was a nice touch the mozzarella was grilled but it didn't add any crisp to the cheese as I thought it might. I ordered their sub fusion burger with fries. The food came out warm, and it looked so freakin yummy! They were nice enough to split it in half and I shared the burger and fries with my friend. We ate, we tasted, and were left full, but unsatisfied. The meal size is large, and makes you feel better that you spent $16 on it, but the taste was flat. Presentation and size is 5 stars, but I don't just eat for substance, I eat for flavor, have to say this meal was mediocre. I'm surprised that the flavor was lacking... they use fresh and unique ingredients, but for some reason it didn't deliver. This is a new food truck to the spot across the street from my office that features a different truck every week. There's so many good options on the menu that it was hard to choose, but I ended up going with the Caprese sub. The roll is fresh and soft, the mozzarella cheese is dripping out of the sandwich, and the basil and balsamic mix is a delicious combo! I also give this place an extra star because unlike most of the other food trucks that come by, this one has recycled cardboard containers for their food, and asks customers to limit how many napkins they take - reducing waste is an admirable goal for a food establishment. The owner was serving up sub sandwich and loaded fries goodness with a smile plus a special discount for combos (add chips or side fries). I got the Caprese, which was a delectable melding of cheese, basil, tomato and truffle spread. The crusty cheese was very tasty, although I would have preferred a bit less tomato and for the bread to be toasted to add a crunchy texture to the concoction. The side of paprika fries were studded with herbs and shredded parm cheese--perfectly savory but could have been a bit crisper. I went to eat with my friend today and we only have 30 minutes to eat. They got my order out in front of me in less than 10 minutes and they had a plenty of other people ordering. When I got my Fusion burger, it was amazing, worth every single penny. Literally, one of the best burgers I've ever had! This thing is hefty and so flavorful. I usually can't eat a whole burger by myself but I could not stop eating. They catered our companies lunch today. I've been working here over 12 years. This was the WORST free lunch EVER! They gave you and option of turkey,roast beef, or tofu for vegans. I had the roast beef,it was on dry sour dough. This sandwich was dryer than the desert I'm not exaggerating. The worst part of it, is that there was more lettuce in it then roast beef. Everyone I asked how they liked it, and all felt the same. It wasn't just the roast beef sandwich it was every choice you had was AWFUL.
