Best fish tacos in SD!! Specials are the best deal out there. Soup is excellent! Parking is easy and service quick and friendly!

So I don't even like fish, but I'm pregnant and was craving fish tacos. My husband was like we gotta go here. I fell in love! We came back like 6 times in two weeks. Twice in one day the first day I tried them! The cashier is so friendly as well! She remembers us now. Will definitely be back

Monday special- fish taco and shrimp taco

Really solid fish tacos at such an affordable price! We came here on a brief layover in SD, around 3 pm on a Monday (holiday) and it was still totally packed. Staff is all super sweet and welcoming. We both got the Monday special, which is a fried fish and fried shrimp taco. You get a free cup of soup with each, and we really enjoyed it! It takes a bit for the food to come out but they are a small team handling a ton of orders so we had no issue waiting and appreciated the tents to provide some shade. The sauces are all delicious, and I love that they labeled the caps with spice levels because I never know if the salsa verde will be mild or burn a hole in my stomach. Will definitely be back!

Go back 14 years and search the 5-star reviews for Kiko's Place and you'll find my glowing comments. I was working in San Diego for about a year back then. Early on, I discovered Kiko's food truck, located in the parking lot of the Texas Street liquor store, and it became my go-to place for lunch and sometimes dinner. The spicy fish tacos were my jam! I returned to Utah raving about Kiko's spicy fish tacos. Every person I met who was headed to SD received my recommendation. A few years ago, I returned to SD expecting to find Kiko's there on Texas Street. They were gone! I thought I had lost them forever. On my trip to SD this week, I checked Yelp and found their Mission Valley location. I made a beeline to the location and was so happy to see Dulce taking orders, just like the old times. I ordered a spicy fish taco and a garlic fish taco. The habanero salsa had the same great kick. The food was as amazing as I remembered. They still offered a complementary cup of fish soup while they prepared my tacos. If you are ever traveling near San Diego, check out Kiko's. You won't be disappointed!

Imagine my surprise when I was looking for Kiko's and XE Enterprise Group pop up in its place. Ever since discovering this at their original location across from Del Taco, I've been stopping by Kiko's whenever I get a chance to be in town. Personally, it's hard for me to compare Kiko's and Oscars since I like different things from them. But Kiko's has fantastic daily special which is always a steal! You can never go wrong with their fish taco and chingon (steak and shrimp) - so think surf and turf. I'm a little sensitive to spicy, but it does have a little heat to it. They have been updating/consolidating their menus the last few times I went, not in the sense that they're getting rid of food but less and less words and descriptions of what each item is. I had to look up previous Yelp reviews to see what certain tacos were. It's been a while, but their ceviche is pretty fire and a massive portion! It's also part of the daily specials if you want to come on a Tues, Wed, or Thurs for a shot! Tuesday is my favorite special since you can get 3 fish tacos for 9.99 where as a regular fish taco runs you 6.99 each! The portions are massive so they do match the price! Everything is made to order, so you can count on it being fresh. They always offer you their fish stew while you wait for your order. They take both card and cash, but cash is always king here. You can pack your limes and salsas while you wait for your order. They do have a few small standing tables for eating on site under canopies or take it to go and eat in your car. There's typically street parking behind the food truck!

Finally got to stop by and try their food. I wish I stopped sooner. Delicious and flavorful. We ordered the medium shrimp cocktail, and a fish taco. The fish taco was packed and the tortilla did its part and didn't breakdown. The shrimp cocktail was perfect shrimp and veggies ratio. It was spicy and in a perfect cocktail. Ate my food too fast didn't even take a picture. We stopped by the food truck, service was quick and no issues. They have stand up tables if you choose to eat there. Can't wait to try their downtown location

After all of the hype, I had to try the original Kikos. While I think these tacos are okay, I wouldn't put them at the top of my "best tacos" or "best seafood tacos" in SD list. I probably won't return either. I ordered the OG fish and shrimp tacos. The fish was cooked well, but I felt both tacos were bland. The shrimp was slightly overcooked, and both proteins had a lot of excess breading. The tortillas and toppings were also just okay. The prices were outrageous given what you can get elsewhere and the size of the portions. If you're looking for great seafood tacos, I highly recommend going to La Sinaloense, Mar y Tierra, or El Prieto instead. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Been wanting to come here for a while after hearing Kiko's has some of the best fish tacos in San Diego! It's located on the side of the road-thankfully, it was easy to find parking. I came on a Tuesday and got their special which included 1 fish taco, 1 shrimp taco, and the broth. In addition to this, I also tried the fish ceviche. Service was quick and there's a salsa bar on the side to pour your desired salsas. It was actually my first time trying ceviche and I liked it! Healthy, high protein, and flavorful! I also enjoyed the shrimp and fish tacos! The green cilantro and orangey chipotle salsas really compliment the seafood. The broth is good too- just a tad bit salty to my liking. Overall, I enjoyed the food! Got to satisfy my fish taco cravings. I'll admit, I had higher expectations for how the fish and shrimp tacos would taste, but it was not bad! Good place to check out to try Mexican seafood dishes!

This has been my go-to spot for fish tacos for years now. The quality is consistently fresh and flavorful--never disappoints. There has been a recent menu change, and with it, a noticeable price increase. The OG fish taco is now $5.99 (used to be $3.50 in 2024), which is a bit of a jump. That said, they still deliver on taste and portion. The octopus taco is $10, which sounds steep, but to be fair--it's loaded with octopus and definitely worth trying if you're a fan. Even with the price hike, I still recommend this place.

My favorite fish taco spot in San Diego! I love coming on Taco Tuesdays for their 3 ginormous fish tacos. It takes a bit to prepare the food, but the fish is freshly battered and fried. The cabbage and salsas also are very fresh. I recommend getting the orange chipotle sauce.

    Alexis B.

Finally decided to give this spot a try after years of hearing about this spot. I got the ceviche and fish tacos. The ceviche was solid but I can confidently say these have been the best fish tacos I've had in San Diego so far.

    Kim T.

The tacos here are great!! I tried their shrimp and fish tacos and enjoyed them so much! Love all the sides and salsas provided. The problem I had was with their shrimp ceviche. Upon opening the box, I saw the shrimp was still gray (completely raw). Ceviche is one of my favorite dishes and I'm very familiar with it. I get that it's cooked in the acid of lime juice, but the flavor of this ceviche was very light in regards to the acid amount. And the texture was just completely off. It was slimey and left a residue in my mouth. The ceviche made the meal horrible. I tossed the whole thing after one bite. I'm not sure if this is a one off situation bc photos of the ceviche from other ppl do not look the same way mine did. I would recommend the tacos but def don't recommend the shrimp ceviche.

New updated menu! Staff member said they were losing money on the old menu so they had to make some changes. The quality of the food is still pretty good, but I believe it's a little bit more pricey than what it used to be. Overall, I will still come here whenever I'm in the area to eat their fish tacos.

    Probably swai

Hi! How can I reach you if I want you at my wedding?

Call the number listed. The owner is often there or the staff can help set up scheduling for catering.

It looks like they moved from the original location on Texas. There is a truck there now that says Kikos. Anyone know if it's the same owner?

The original truck it’s in mission valley. Texas has a different owner.

The fish was really fresh and good, and I enjoyed both sauces with the garlic butter being my favorite. The best way I could describe the place is a fast food style casual seafood dining restaurant. There was plenty of parking, and the restaurant was relatively clean considering we were there during the lunch rush. Ordering is self service at a kiosk and then they call your order when it's ready. There was an issue with my rockfish and they initially only gave me a piece and a half smaller portion. They acknowledged it when I went to pick up at the counter before I even noticed. They were going to make me another piece, and that new second piece took forever. Everyone else had finished eating by the time it was ready, so I ended up taking it with me. Other than that issue, I really enjoyed the food and would recommend checking it out. It was fresh, higher but reasonably priced, and a nice alternative to the usual fast food experience. https://www.cafishgrill.com

Whether you're grabbing a coffee and guava pastry after a day of shopping or planning your next large event, I highly recommend Havana Grill. It's sure to taste good and be a crowd pleaser. To start, the food was amazing. The owner, Sandra, helped me plan a menu that would be satisfying and popular with all of the guests, but also within my budget. We settled on chafing dishes with arroz con pollo, frijoles negros, rice, lechón, ropa vieja, croquetas, plátanos maduros, and Cesar salad, and guests were able to add beverages, deserts, and any special dietary requests. Everything was a HIT. A week later, I'm still hearing how wonderful the food was-- even from guests with food restrictions and a relative who runs her own Cuban food business in another state! The atmosphere was perfect and the service was impeccable. Sandra, her Operations Manager (Markley), and the staff were fantastic to work with on the planning and preparation, as well as on the day of the event. The restaurant music and decor is already warm and inviting with an indoor tree, high ceilings, and a large dining area, so not much was needed to make it festive. Still, I wanted to place some photographs and memorabilia around the various tables to personalize it. The staff made it super easy to drop things off the night before, taking steps to communicate with each other and make sure nothing got lost. The next day, I arrived to see that they had set it up beautifully-- even adding flowers at each table. On the day of the event, service team (including Bree, Ramon) were attentive and friendly. The menu was also confusing as well as the hotpot experience. I guess you get you ingredients, weigh it and then they put the soup of your choice in your pot... I'm not sure why they weigh it? The heavier the more expensive it is? They did have a lot of seafood options, so that's a plus. The pre-set menu had some good choices. We chose some type beef stew dish [$16.95]. It was just okay for me. Think bulgogi meat but with stew/sauce. Had it with some rice and the Crispy Pork app [$6.95] which turned out to be the best thing we had there. Also tried their Brown Sugar Rice Cake for dessert [$6.95] and it was okay too... that whole meal was whatever, honestly. The place was clean and the guy in the front was attentive. Parking in that plaza is horrible, so be sure you make your trip worth it! This trip was unfortunately not worth it.
