The food seemed fresh and prepared in house, and featured plenty of "low processed" options (ie stuff other than seitan or Beyond). The prices were high but the food seemed quite healthy. Wow!! Hidden gem alert!! Super excited to have found the spot with not only healthy, vegan but also gluten-free options. We shared the breakfast platter, which had a tofu scramble that's to die for with mixed vegetables. The Gluten-free bread option with the platter was almost too good to believe it was true. To top it off they offer Smoky crispy tempeh bacon, which was amazing. Our other dishes included the barbecue cauliflower bites with dipping sauce, which were incredible as well. They are made with rice flour, so they still have a crispiness, but the cauliflower was done perfectly. Lastly, we shared the mushroom lavash open sandwich. It was light and flavorful. We experienced a warm welcome from the staff and the food did not disappoint. Bright and fresh was the theme there ;)) . Our party ordered several dishes and each one was unique and no fried foods are served there, which is so refreshing. The juices were freshly prepared and the portions, quite abundant. This place is great. Really fresh high quality food, smoothies and juices. On the pricey side but expected for a vegan organic cafe. They have a couple of tables outside which is nice. I got a banana, orange, apple and mango smoothie around $9. It was thick, smooth and creamy. No extra sugar, I really tasted the fresh fruit. It was so refreshing and delicious. I got the sesame seitan over a salad. Huge amount of salad and seitan. I had leftovers for the next day. I likes the flavor and texture a lot and the salad had a ton of veggies in it. My boyfriend got the Subia burger and he loved it. We tried the Cannoli too, I thought the filling was a little too sweet and could have been thicker. Absolutely delicious vegan food!!! We tried the the breakfast tacos this time and they did not disappoint at all!! The sauce they had on top was addicting. It comes with too but as you can see they are so filled that you get full fast. Definitely think the high price point is worthy with the large portion size The only reason i deducted a star this time is because their water cups smelt so weird and we're dirty when we were given them. I thought that was gross. The other thing was the taco tortilla was fried and it was super oily which i didnt like as much. Really good vegan spot in Jersey City! I came here for dinner with a coworker when we were traveling for a work trip. We are both vegetarian and figured this would be a great spot. We had the cauliflower appetizer which was awesome! Very saucy but still good. I had a black bean burger for my meal which was outstanding. Very well done and all the flavors were amazing. My coworker ordered the chicken sandwich and enjoyed that as well. They also serve a variety of desserts as well as vegan snacks like cheese and other refrigerated goods. One of my favorite vegan spots in Jersey City. My favorite is the house-made burger (the one made with black beans) on a gluten-free bun. I wish they sold fries to go with the burger rather than adorning the plate with blue-corn chips (I don't eat corn) but it's a tasty burger nonetheless. Today was the same thing , I ordered 3 chicken nugget platters , spent over $100 in food for my kids and family to have dinner and they only send me 1 chicken nugget platter and 2 cakes. Called the restaurant and my call got passed down from staff to staff (3 different voices got on the phone) fortunate for me , unfortunately for them , they did not Mute the phone and I heard all 3 staff while I was on hold literally cursing me out and shouting back and forth about my annoying self being on the phone upset ABOUT THEIR MISTAKE. Like they literally were mad that I was mad because I paid for some thing I didn't get. This is the 3rd time they've done this so it's a regular thing that happens. And don't you dare to call in about their mistake. You will get cursed out too. The owner got on the line and had the nerve to tell me "you matter as a client" all along while I heard ALL OF HER STAFF joking and disregarding and disrespecting me with obscenities that Google won't allow me to post on this review. Came for an outdoor lunch with my friend at this small market/cafe. They have a great selection of sandwiches, salads, platters, and smoothies/juices which are all vegan. Neither one of us is vegan but we really enjoyed our dishes. I got the sesame seitan as a salad and she got the bbq riblette sandwich. We also tried one of their smoothies which was delicious and seemed to be made of just fruits and plant milk without any added sugar. Well, again I can't believe I haven't reviewed the one and only Subia's. Better late than never. First of all the food is great. The service is warm and friendly and the portions are GENEROUS! They have great starters (like empanadas) and they have the best vegan desserts. We are a sweet tooth family. I recommend the cookies and the carrot cake!!! They just had a beautiful renovation so there's roomy comfortable seating inside. It's getting cold but they had nice outdoor seating as well. We dine in and order out through the apps (Grubhub...) and the food is always fresh, hot, and well-seasoned. This last time we had waffles, potatoes, eggs, empanadas, and cake. We shared everything and had enough left over to bring home. The price is reasonable. They have a nice variety of lunch and dinner choices as well. Subia's Organic Market is a small vegan/vegetarian restaurant located in the downtown section of Jersey City. Parking was tough. We rode around for a little while then decided we would park in the pay lot around the corner on Columbus Drive. That's when fortunately, a spot on the street opened up and we pulled in. We walked a little ways but it was worth it since the service was excellent. The young lady who took our order, politely answered our questions about menu items that contained soy. At the time of this review, I've learned ALL of the burgers are SOY-FREE but the other menu items are not. I ordered the bbq riblete which also contains soy. It was tasty with a rich bbq flavor and hint of spice. I topped off my meal with a cannoli for dessert which was tres manifique! The restaurant has a nice touch of soft contemporary music playing in the background and while the restaurant itself may not have the greatest ambiance, it was wrapped in somewhat of a spiritual decor and decorated with a "cozy" feel. All in all, I was quite pleased with the service and the food and would certainly recommend both vegans and non-vegans to stop by for lunch when in the area. read more

After leaving NYC and moving to Hudson County, looking for Vegan restaurants was a challenge in comparison to the many options in Manhattan. A Yelp search lead to Subia's Vegan Cafe in Jersey City. Yvonne and her staff were very helpful in selecting dishes. We tried a few, the breakfast wrap and the BBB cauliflower was delicious. My daughter loved the nuggets! They were a hit!! We took some take out deserts, the cookies they were delicious. We will definitely go back to try the scramble platters for Brunch. The space has ample indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be a challenge. You might have to circle around a few times before you find a spot. Definitely give Subia's a try if you are looking for a Vegan cafe in Hudson County. My friend and I went on a self made vegan food tour of New Jersey and Subias was our last stop. It was the perfect end to the day. I got the country chick'n wrap. The vegan ranch mayo was what dreams are made of. I did not love the texture of the chicken substitute but I honestly have not had much meat substitute to compare it to. I agree with the reviews below. I want to support this place but horrible owner. Bad customer service. I asked the waiter which sandwich to order based on a picture I saw on yelp for their restaurant. When the sandwich came out it looked so different and was missing avocado. Tasted bad too. She gave me a hard time sending it back and kept questioning was it the missing avocado or the taste. I told her it's both and I just want to send it back. Before eating I placed an order for 12 cannolis which would've been over $60. You lost my business for over $60 for a $14 sandwich that doesn't look like the picture. Also if the menu says all sandwiches served with avocado then put it on the sandwiches. Don't try to save money and scam people. read more

A friend of mine picked this place to meet and it was a vegan spot I didn't know was around. When I arrived I had to circle a bit to find parking. When I arrived I pretty much had to go in and ask where I could sit and the lady said anywhere. I picked an outside table and waited until my friend arrived. It was getting chilly so I asked if we could sit inside and they said yes. I don't remember the server's name but they did switch off from the man to the woman and I had to get up to get their attention a few times. I just ordered the soup du jour and the chocolate donut for dessert. My friend ordered the soup, buffalo tempeh and bandito loco wrap. The soup was very bland. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper and so did my friend. I tried the tempeh and the wrap, and the tempeh wasn't bad but the wrap was really good. The donut I ordered was pretty tasty as well. This is a cozy little vegan spot next to grove street! I would encourage people to give it a try since it's not too over priced, as some vegan places in the area tend to be. It's walking distance from the Grove Street PATH station. There's a lot of variety options to pick from and there's seating both in doors and out doors. However there isn't a lot of tables or space. When we went it was a weekend and early evening so we didn't have to wait to be seated or anything. It was tough picking food though because of the many options! All the food was pretty good; i personally wasn't a fan of the fake meat in the Mexican wrap but the black bean burger was delicious and a hit if you don't want to be too adventurous. read more

She asked me how I was doing as I was waiting to pay for my order (nonrhetorical question really ) - but I told her that I was disappointed to find out they had discontinued a distinct item on their menu. It was my favorite item. However - I was being humorous when I said it. never ill intent.  As I walked away to browse other food items she goes:  " That's unnecessary "  to her younger staff. Her staff agrees and goes: " YeS!  very unnecessary. "    Customers providing honest feedback about items on your menu is not UNNECESSARY.  It's COMMON and perfectly normal.   I wasn't rude.  mean.  Loud.   any of those things.   I was being humorous.    It's obvious these workers were already annoyed and not having it.   But that is the energy they give off anytime I've been to this establishment to place an order.   Annoyed.   They need to learn how to NOT make passive-aggressive comments about their paying customers. I've ordered food from this place a couple of times at work, and have never failed to have a good meal from Subia's . I'm a vegetarian so I appreciate the numerous unique veggie options. Today I tried the chickn nugget sandwich for the first time. This sandwich comes with ~6 large chicken nugget pieces and fresh whole wheat bread. My best friend and I came in because we saw the picture of the days special (which were the vegan tacos) and said "let's go!" Service was quick and easy. Pleasantly surprised! I wasn't sure what to expect considering it's Vegan (sorry stereotyping I'm not Vegan only eater) and it's half market half dining. I was told the food was awesome but I don't believe anyone until I try it myself, especially being a picky eater. I had the Patty Melt, technically it has the sausage patty with tofu scramble, aka egg type substitute. The morning roll was like a biscuit, large and fluffy! It was very flavorful and delicious. I really liked the description of breakfast wrap but I wasn't sure what to expect of the spinach wrap (since I don't eat spinach) but my friend ordered it and it was like a tortilla. I took a bite and I wish I ordered that! Had all the breakfast insides that you would expect, similar to the melt but had potatoes! I still enjoyed my breakfast but next time I would get my own wrap :) Had the coffee which was good. Had real brown sugar crystals sugar, no cream or cream substitute though but it still tasted good. This has to be the BEST restaurant in all of NJ, or dare I say, the WORLD. The service is phenomenal (they are very attentive and keen to detail) and the food is EXQUISITE. Ive never tried a vegan chicken more juicy and flavorful anywhere else. Let me not even get started on their juice selection. You can definitely taste the high quality of the ingredients in each of their products. My go to items are always the buffalo strips chicken sandwich and the stress away juice. Also, my mom and I have made it a tradition to get their waffles every weekend because they're truly delicious. I love that they have so many options, from savory to sweet, they got it. I have a family of vegans and it is certainly a preference for me as well, but it's soo hard to find a good vegan place to eat. Subia's by far has the most expansive vegan options (well everything there is vegan but with a HUGE menu) I've seen outside of NYC and all so delicious. They use nut cheese, tons of super fresh veggies and other fantastic replacements for your favorite animal based products. I had the veggie wrap and it couldn't have been better, the spread, the cheese, the veggies - the best I've had. My neices had the chicken fingers, they weren't so fond of them but mainly because they are picky kiddos and they were different then they are used to. I, on the other hand, loved them. They were made with cornmeal and with a very tasty honey mustard type dipping sauce. My sister got a huge salad which was equally as fresh as everything else. The desserts looked great, didnt get one but will be back and they many of their items are gluten free as well - just an added bonus. Would definitely recommend, but check their hours because the kitchen closed from 3:30-4:30 and you don't want to be disappointed! read more

Visited 06/22/19 Well, I have to say I (we) are very surprised as to how good Vegan and vegetarian food can be. We've been curious for a while, so when friends of ours who are now vegetarian wanted to get together in JC, my wife found Subia's. It was a gorgeous day, so we sat outside to do some 'people watching' while we were eating. My wife had the Phila. cheesesteak, while I had the the Riblette sandwich. Both of these vegan sandwiches were pretty amazing and tasted like real 'meat!' The texture too was 'spot on.' Our first foray into vegan food had us staring at each other in disbelief... happily so. Our friends had the vegan Reuben and a veggie wrap, both of which they enjoyed very much. We also tried their Buffalo Tempeh Sticks (marinated sticks of tempeh lightly breaded with brown rice meal, baked in spicy buffalo sauce, served with celery stalks and vegan ranch-style dipping sauce) We're not 'afraid' of vegan food or 'fake meat' anymore, lol. We just tried some "Beyond Beef" which easily passes for beef (burgers) both taste wise and visually. read more
