Had me the Korean beef sandwich with kimchi, cucumber and spicy mayo on toasted bread. Didn't know what to expect but man oh man was that one of the most delightful meals I've had in a while. This is my favorite sandwich shop in Burbank. The bread they use is a white roll that is soft in the inside and a light hardness on the outside. Any of the sandwich combinations are delicious. A delightful sandwich shop connected to a 7-11 and near Nickelodeon. I love how soft the bread is and how packed all their subs are. I especially love the King Club! It always is busy whenever I'm in there, so seating can be a bit of a premium. I love that they have Cherry Coke on tap, but ice is behind the counter. It's a bit of a drive from my work, but I still make the trek whenever I feel like having a great sandwich for lunch. read more

Can be described as a casual, fast-paced sandwich shop offshoot olive and San Fernando on the less desirable locations of Burbank. To the cashier's advice, I ordered the chicken bacon ranch sandwich . A large (12 inch) is almost ten dollars. At subway, you can get it for around six-7 and are allotted more toppings . I ordered everything on it, but it came with just lettuce onion tomato. Notwithstanding the name "Submarine King", they don't Americanize the sandwich. Technically, correct as America is not a monarchy, but I like my sandwich like my president: fat and economic (much like his stature and cheap 5-cent three letter adjectives I.e "sad." And that's how I felt: Sad. It wasn't worth the trek. Perhaps the cashier is wrong, and the bacon chicken ranch sandwich isn't the most popular. Yelpers tends to post pics of the Italian. Oh, well! 61/100 Yelp 2017 Review Challenge Submarine is a super bomb family owned business that I've been going to since I was in high school so I was extremely glad to try it recently and see (er...taste) that the quality hasn't gone down. I placed a large order of around 12 sandwiches to-go (and didn't call ahead of time...sorry!) but my order came out pretty quickly. Even though there only seemed to be one person working - the owner I'm presuming. I got 3 types of sandwiches - the italian cold cut, turkey breast and cheese, and the ham and cheese. All were super bomb and incredibly refreshing to eat since it was a pretty hot day out. Make sure you get the homemade giardinera (pickled vegetables) if you order the italian. It adds a depth of flavor and spice to the sandwich! Burbank has quite a large number of delis in the area but I would highly recommend swinging by Submarine just because of the super friendly service and how simple but great it is. The only con about eating in the actual store is that there isn't AC so it does tend to get a little stuffy on hotter days. read more

French dip, Roast beef, Korean beef w/ butter kimchi, Sarducci, doesnt matter what sandwich you get, it is better than anything else. The hidden gem in this entire valley. It had crunchy bacon (my fave), grilled chicken and freshly made ranch sauce with Swiss mayo and tomatoes. The roll was fresh and it was a delicious sandwich. I also ordered the tuna sandwich but haven't had it yet. I bought it for dinner because I had a hunch this place was gonna be good. They also serve teriyaki bowls which I'm definitely going to try on my next visit. Prices are affordable. Averaging $8-9 for a large sub. Can't go wrong. They also had drinks and chips. The bun is always fresh, the owners are friendly, and while the subs aren't stuffed too fat, they are made with TLC, and include some homemade ingredients. That's why I'm giving this humble owner-run sub shop a 5 instead of a 4. Don't forget to ask for a little sample of the homemade Giardiniera, which is pickled veggies. If you love it like I do, you can have it on your sub for $1. It's definitely worth it. I love it on the Italian sub. The Spicy chicken sub took me by surprise with it's delicious spicy flavors. At the time of my recent visit I also tasted the Thanksgiving special, a warm sub with hickory smoked turkey and Brie cheese, plus cranberry sauce. The owners are always coming up with something new when I stop by. I live in San Diego, but I'm often up in Burbank visiting friends and family. Burbank can be pricey in general, but Submarine King gives you a good value for your dollar, and you can get a large Italian sub for $7.50 at the time I wrote this review (November 2015). The large is 12" and the small is 8". They also offer rice bowls, although I haven't tried one yet. I wish I lived closer to Submarine King on W Olive in Burbank. Highly recommended! read more

I eat at the sandwich chains on a regular basis but stop by Submarine King when I need to make my day that much better. I've tried Roast Beef, Turkey & Cheese and others but Italian Cold Cut is my fave. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. The bread is slim, fresh and tasty. With generous meat, just enough mayo, diced pickles, mustard, onions, lettuce and spices, you taste everything at once instead of feeling overpowered by bread. I'm ready for another one! Sun, one of the owners perhaps, is always excited to share his plans to test new menu items and fine tune recipes. Bobas - pineapple, Thai tea.. well all of them are tasty. Bobas and sandwiches go well together. I've ate here too many times to know that the french bread they use is far too much bread for a sandwich. It could use another layer of meat but they just don't roll like that. And speaking of roll that is what you get. A sandwich roll. The thing is so freaking tight it's literally submarine tight. I don't like their sandwiches much and their not that big really. It's all bread no meat. I'm being extra serious with you. Listen, it's mostly bread and little meat. They don't balance out and you're left throwing out big chunks of hard bread. Another bad is that any sandwich that has bacon or you specifically order bacon you'll find that the bacon is rock hard and in pieces. Don't say I didn't warn you. I bit into one really hard and almost lost a cavity. You at least get to taste savory bacon bits instead of olive pits like Dennis Kucinich. The good part about this place is the service.
