I have used Suburban Rides for 5 years. Usually great service but I will not be using them again. 2 years ago, traveling with my 85 year old mother, I was stranded at Midway when they didn't show up to pick us up. Had to take a taxi which cost a fortune to Naperville. Since I was a good customer I thought I would at least get something more than an apology and a BS story but I didn't. I foolishly gave them another chance and I had good luck until this morning when our driver didn't show up to take us to the airport. We are now driving ourselves and will pay a fortune to park. I made an appointment for a car a few days before needed. The night before my departure, the driver called to confirm his expected arrival.. Not only was he on time, but he actually I arrived a little early. The car was immaculately clean, a bottle of water was offered and the driver was friendly, intelligent and interesting but not a nuisance. It was a wonderful experience. Don't use suburban rides! After using the service for more then a dozen times I made a reservation to use their service to drive myself and family to and from an event. We needed a mini van because of the amount of people that needed to be transported. Two days prior Fernando called to tell me he had to cancel the reservation due to some fees that he did not pay. Whatever the reason, I suggested that he offer us two cars so that we could still have rides for that event. Fernando was shocked at the thought that HE would then have to pay two drivers!! Bottom line, suburban rides is not dependable and their customer service is non existent. Fernando needs to manage his business!! read more

Suburban Rides was able to provide a large enough vehicle to pick up all 6 of us, all adults from O'Hare and transport us to the suburbs. Our driver, Ferman, was great. Our flight landed on time, but we were stuck in the tarmack due to lightning concerns for the ground crews. Ferman was great and when we finally got to the gate and picked up our luggage, I think it took Ferman only about 5 minutes to show up. Then he had to deal with heavy rush hour traffic, but he knew how to maneuver past some of the heavy congestion, didn't take much longer than usual to get us home. I relied on the good to great ratings observed on yelp, and booked with Suburban Rides for the first time for a round-trip to Ohare. The lesser (but nonetheless significant) of the two problems was that the driver was 20 minutes late picking me up at my house. Ten of those minutes were due to his being pulled over by local police for speeding when attempting to be less late to pick me up, so I cut them slack and did not cancel my return ride. Upon returning to Ohare last night, only crickets chirping. No car, no driver, no text, no phone call, no email, no answer at the phone number they gave, no reply to my email, nothing. Just a complete no show with absolutely no contact with me and no explanation whatsoever, including today. As an update to my review, I took Fernando up on his offer to give them another chance on him and I booked another round-trip to Ohare. I am pleased to say that both ends of the trip went off without incident. Because of their direct response of taking responsibility, I have increased my rating to a 3. read more

Smaller company with friendly faces, but don't confuse friendly with unprofessional. Contacted a day before reservations with details and confirmation of pickup times. Have used company twice, reasonable rates and drivers showed up early at the house and promptly for airport pickup. First of all, Get a Dispatcher!!! I called for a ride today and got the garbled answering message of someone's cell phone. I left a message. An hour later, 'Ray' called and left a message to call him to make arrangements for a ride; to 'just ask for 'Ray'. I call and ask for 'Ray' and the guy who answered (after another garbled message played) doesn't seem to know who 'Ray' is; then, he remembers, and says, 'Uh, he's out right now, can I take a message?' I said 'no'. Half hour later, 'Ray' calls asking me to call him about a ride. I was so impressed about this company reading the reviews here...Seems not to be true in this case. I needed to reserve a car for a trip booked for my boss. Calling from Honolulu, I tried a few places in the Chicago area to get a few quotes. Prices were all pretty competitive, and what made us choose Suburban Rides was outstanding service. Fernando was personable and super helpful on the phone, following up with email confirmation. What really impressed me was that less than 24 hours before our reservation, we needed to make a couple changes in ride destination and time of pick-up. I left a voicemail after 5pm Hawaii time, and with a six-hour time difference did not expect a call back until the morning. Less than half an hour later, I received a call back, changes to our reservations made seamlessly. Main office and drivers all helpful, courteous. Pick-ups and drop-offs were on-time and went smoothly. So great! read more

I have to agree that the communication before and during pick up was great. The driver Neil texted before I arrived to Mid-Way and what I needed to do to find him. It was very efficient! However, I was very disappointed with the vehicle. It was a Mitsubishi Silver SUV. Definitely not what I expected. The car belonged to Neil. It was dirty and there was a bug flying in the back where my daughter and I sat. it really felt like a personal vehicle. They advertise luxury without the price but there was no luxury. I was very disappointed and will not use them again. Their service is great but not their vehicles. Maybe they have better ones but I didn't experience them. read more

If I could do no stars, I would. I read the Yelp! reviews and decided to try them as opposed to Blue Cab--which my wife said to use. After having set up the date and time and verification, on the day we were to leave for the airport, no ride. Ten minutes in I called the company to find out where they were. They asked if they could call back within 5 minutes, not happy, I said fine. They called saying they had contacted a driver and they would be there in 10-15. The driver called and said he wouldn't be there for another 35-45 minutes. At that point I said don't bother (using different words to express my anger)--we wouldn't have made our flight. I ended up paying for parking for the week, so instead of $40 I spent $112. They did offer to give us a free ride back from the airport, but given that I had to drive, the offer was pointless. You are in the business for one reason and you couldn't pull it off. Shameful and disappointing--should have listened to my wife. read more

This was our very first vacation and I wanted everything to run smoothly, starting with getting to the airport...and it did. Our driver Maricor, was fabulous. I was so impressed! Wonderful customer service (I tried the online quote thing but as I didn't get an immediate response..seemed the server was slow or down) I used the email option to dispatch. Literally within minutes I got a call from a wonderful gentleman who explained my choices, confirmed the rates as listed on the website and booked my pickup. I had been stressing out trying to use a different company (Go Green) because after 3 emails their rates kept changing! Not so with Suburban Rides! Not only did the rate from Midway to a Chicagoan suburb remain the same throughout, the dispatcher also made a note to the pickup driver to 'call Mom when passenger is loaded' and guess what?! He did! Neil (our driver) called right away to let me know my girl was safe and sound and destination-bound! BTW, this was my daughter's trip to college in Chicago from a small town in the Pacific Northwest...so nerves were cracklin' every which way and Suburban Rides delivered my most precious cargo exactly as promised...NO Worries! Scheduled car service to get to the airport and scheduled the return trip also. The driver drove into the ditch and couldn't get his car out. That was awful and I felt terrible for him, but why I'm not recommending this service is because, the driver seemed to have no back-up plan and no support from the company. 5 minutes after the scheduled time, I called to see where the car was- not knowing it was stuck outside. I got an answering machine and NO call back. We had to drive ourselves to the airport, find the parking lot, run like heck to make the flight. BUT I called to remind them that we'd driven and didn't need the return trip, but would they please acknowledge so I'm sure no driver is stuck waiting for us. NO return call, no call saying sorry for the problem but we hope you'll give us another try. NOTHING. Mistakes happen but the way you handle them makes a difference. I was going to take a trip to Chicago to see my Sister and I contacted Suburban Rides and talked with Ray and then later went online to book them for my ride from Midway to my Sisters house. I was confirmed right away by email. The day I was traveling from Orlando I got a call form Kevin my driver for that day. And also there was a text on my phone as soon as I turned it on departing the plane. By the time I got down to ground transportation and called him, he was there in less than 3 minutes. Had a pleasant ride and conversation on the way to my sister home. The car was very clean and neat. The night before my trip home I got a text from Neil telling me he would be there the next day at 9:30AM. He arrived at 9:15 and I had another pleasant experience with him and again the car was clean as well. So in closing I would say that any time I travel to Chicago I will definitely use Suburban Rides. read more
