He moved us up in his schedule given the severity, and replaced the broken pipe from our house to our septic tank.

I am writing a great review for a sh*tty business! Ha ha ha…read more So, we found Mr. Helmer on a frantic search after another septic repair company bailed on some emergency work we needed done. Stanley and his son Aaron came out the day after we called for help, came in very close in price to our original estimate AND they did all the work the same day. We had a MAJOR problem that involved every homeowner's worst nightmare (cutting through concrete and digging up the ground!!) but they finished in less than four hours and we were only without use of plumbing for maybe half that time. Stanley took the time to explain EVERYTHING and assured us that he was treating the project as though it was his own home. It helped that he's also a super personable guy and knows a ton because he's been around forever. Not only did he win our business for this job but now we will call him for our regular pumping needs too. Thanks so much for helping us out of a pretty desperate situation and being super fair and kind to us!

My septic alarm turn on Tue, wed morning I called and informed Helmar about this. They mentioned…read morethat they are in my area and can come there in 10 mins. Service call charges will be $150 and if any repair that would be waived off. They came in 10 mins. Opened lift station and pump started working. Technician told that it was something weird and when he wiggled cord it started working. He mentioned that everything should be fine. I asked that since they have already opened lift station why don't they pump it. They asked me that it will cost $289 to pump lift station, which is under 300 gallon. I mentioned since it is opened let's do it. I paid $289. Technician mentioned in the notes "Taped alarm float to riser pipe. Float may have gotten stuck. After testing the pump is working." In the night alarm again turned on. I called next morning. Technician told that float might be stuck again and we need to come again and may be we can install new float. I asked about cost and was told it is not expensive. I told that I had service a day before and paid $289, I was told that don't worry we will take care of it. Next day technician came and put new float and I got bill of $200. What.......$200 for a $20 float. I called and told that I already paid $289 for service call yesterday and why again $200. Total $489 for a float change. I was told that technician who came day before was not carrying float. Means a service call technician is not equipped with all things they need to fix it and they will need to come again and will charge again. Customer will have to pay $489 for a $20 float. Stay away from company who doesn't have skilled technician and not carrying all necessary equipment and put all overhead on customer to pay $489 for $20 float. Talked to owner and he was very disrespectful and arrogant. Stay away from such shady company. Service crew is incompetent and not equipped with all tools and they need to come multiple times and charges on customer ...again $489 for $20 float and make you feel like they did BIGGEST favor to you.

He is an incredible tradesman and always our preferred choice where his services are warranted. We, however, live in Winnetka and this is outside "Armando's" service area. He, however, recommended HT Strenger to us and we are extremely happy that he did. We experienced a leak behind a kitchen wall that another vendor purported to fix yet to no avail so this was a re-do. David of Strenger reported precisely on time and opened the wall as if he was instead a laproscopic surgeon, unlike the previous failed vendor whose access hole/port was four times larger and created a mess that required the acquisition of a drywaller and several hours of collective inconvenience. The first failed plumbing contractor billed in 15 minute increments and, if I am not mistaken, so did Strenger, with the difference being the former's "efficacy coefficient" was zero. Stenger's work lacked the haphazard, sloppy and careless inputs of the first acquistion, one of those "always on the radio" suppliers whose name a collegue supplied, and who regretfully I called, as the job seemed perfunctory to say the least. Unfortunately, my belief of the strong inverse correlation that exists between a company's propensity to run obnoxious radio ads and its tendency to screw up the simplest job remains. Neither my wife nor I believed it necessary to ask a real plumber for a more proximate recommendation ("Armando, who would you hire if you lived up here" was indeed the targeted vernacular) but such is the world in which we now live. Another reviewer apparently thought it strange that the company requests "five star" reviews post completion. David made the same request but I construed this not as a plea of desperation inasmuch as affirmation that one would be forthcoming IF and only IF, we felt comfortable rendering such. Strenger's management, unlike the radio advertisers, seemingly understand that loyality, and the ability to thus eschew spending thousands of dollars or whatever these others pay on psychobabble laden. platitude filled ads, comes from telling customers what you will do and for how much, doing it as promised and then billing appropriately. We now have two favorite household plumbers with Strenger being our preferred provider up north. It's just a shame, however, that it takes typically two suppliers, both requiring remuneration, to acquire one good outcome. Strenger made write all that was wrong and I am very grateful for its excellent work. You will be too.

Review: I thought these guys would be great based on reviews, but it turned out to not be so. First…read moreI talk to a guy there and explain the situation and send pictures and am told me I'll need a camera inspection before doing a pipe repair, and the camera inspection will be $600. OK no worries, let's do it. So then they come out to do the inspection, take a look and tell me I don't need the camera inspection after all. OK great. Then they charge me $200 for coming over for 10 minutes and telling me that....OK. So the guy tells me it will be a couple of thousand dollars to dig down into the basement floor and fix the pipe, and I'm like oh that's not too bad. He says he'll send a quote over. So five days pass and I still don't have the quote after reaching out to them twice to ask for it eventually the quote comes in, and to my surprise it's over $5000. And at that point, I give up.
