I am a fan of Subway. Not the best sandwiches around, but they are affordable, found everywhere and the quality is usually the same no matter where you go.
Well...then I ate at Brighton's Subway...silly me, I've eaten here twice.
My first experience wasn't great, but didn't deter me from returning. The staff were rude and abrupt, and they had issues at the checkout as well when I asked for soup as an afterthought along side my friends sub. That particular time, I blamed the staff's behaviour on the fact that they were fairly busy - hence stressed.
The second experience was worse in my opinion. I ALWAYS ask for LOTS of onions and green peppers on my sub sandwiches - the restaurants are always accomodating at making the sandwich the way that I like it. This Subway started off by skimping severely on all the toppings (it was this way last visit too) - even the lettuce. They were putting ridiculously tiny amounts of veggies on in comparison to other locations. When I started asking for more onion/green pepper (trying to ignore the lack of other toppings) - the server said that they were "not allowed" to put on any more then 3 pieces of onion or green pepper as per Subways head office. What crap.
I later called Subway, and they claimed this wasn't true. My complaint was put through to the restaurants manager and eventually (after a series of phone calls), I was offered a free sub next time I was in the area. I told them to keep their sub and that I would not be eating there again.
Although Subway can be relatively cheap, the employees are usually great and they don't fail to give you lots of veg. This location was the exception ... twice. read more
