As of this review, Epicure Café has been around for roughly 35 years, and I only noticed it upon a recent visit to the nearby River Oaks Theatre. This place is wonderful and worth visiting. I tried a burger and fries on my first visit, and I'll definitely return for their tempting pastries. The space was comfortable, and the service was excellent. Five stars across the board for a local gem.

Needs improvement. Tables outside stacked with trash (3). People were waiting to sit down. Us too so I had to bring 2 dirty plates inside because I don't have patience to stand around. The food was average. Acapulco omelette and western. Coffee was inconsistent. Forgot part of my order. What a mess. We will keep driving past this place and try somewhere else.

The Princess Torte was good! I've been trying to find a place around Houston that has it!

Decided to stop here yesterday after being in the area. I was on the search for breakfast food and the lady at the counter let me know they still had breakfast at 2 pm (score!) I ordered the turkey croissant which came with scrambled eggs and spinach. It was delicious! The portion was super generous and also came with half of a banana on the side. It was truly an amazing sandwich! After seeing all of the pastries, I could not leave without getting a couple. I ended up ordering a cheese danish and a fruit tart to go. Both pastries were amazing! They really know what they are doing here. It was my first time having a legit cheese danish (one not from starbucks) and I feel like it changed my life. No joke LOL. Taking one star off because the young lady at the register was visibly annoyed the entire time I was ordering... Not sure why but as a first time customer this was enough to make me not want to come back.

I had the Tiramsu. And it was divine. I missed the lady fingers but the cake was a hit when i tasted it. Just the perfect amount of coffee taste. The service was timely and the cafe was very inviting with its look and people.

I loved my croissant and was delighted that it didn't fall apart. Our coffees were yummy as well.

One of my favorite desserts place in town. Especially the pistachio cakes. Every time we are here for coffee:tea and cake I ordered the pistachio one. Sometimes we also ordered the whole cake for birthday. So yummy. Haven't come back since the pandemic and it's still good as always. Today we ordered the pistachio cake for a coworker birthday and Epicure didn't let us down.

Inside you will also find French pastries, coffees and teas, gelato, milkshakes, sandwiches and macaroons. I felt the most interesting items were the French pastries as they are cute and tasty as well. Also, they plate the pastries nicely when you dine in as an added bonus. I tried the Chocolate Royale and the Ruby. Chocolate Royale - a petit chocolate mouse slice with flat chocolate panels along the sides. It is delicate and tasty. If you're a chocolate lover, this is definitely up your alley. Ruby - visually this looks like a strawberry Hershey kiss, with red powder on the exterior and a top piece of foil to resemble foil on the wrapper of a hershey kiss. Inside, it's filled with a strawberry cream and has a chocolate base. I just wish there was more chocolate in this one. They have plenty of seating inside as well as along the sidewalk. Inside you have the more fancy tables, whereas outside, they're more weather resistant and not as upscale in appearance. The soft drinks to drink along with your sweets are in a cold case along the hotel side of the space and you just take them to the register as you order. One of the most surprising things when you come here are the relatively affordable prices as you might expect them to be more for being a coffee shop attached to a 5-star hotel with a helipad.

What's nudged this place up to 5 stars for me is they have really improved their coffee game, specifically their quality of cappuccino's. Previously it seemed more of latte, but now to me its a legit Capp. Their choice of pastries hasn't changed, which gives you a good assortment of choices and they have added an additional barista or server which also is a nice touch for service. The only niggling items, parking can be tough, so you'll have to either walk a block or be quick to find a place close by. Regardless, definitely give this place a go to come for a pastry and coffee.

We finally came around to checking it out and OMG YES. It absolutely is worth the hype. As a lover of egg tarts and someone who is also very particular about it - these have won my heart! I also heard great things about the mango mochi so we couldn't leave without those. Thankfully they still had some in stock. I heard they sell out quickly especially on weekends. Those also lived up to its hype. SO YUMMY! Tastes so fresh including the mangoes. My kiddo who LOVES mango anything loved them so much! My husband also got 2 savory pastries (I forgot what they were called and I forgot to take a picture) and those were yummy too. Perfectly flakey crust just like the egg tarts. We wanted to get sesame balls but they were sold out. Customer service was great. The guy that took our order was very nice. It was pretty busy but he moved through the line quickly. There's some seating inside if you want to eat there. Prices are very reasonable at $2 each for the mochi and egg tarts. The savory pastries were $3. It's located in a shared lot/area. Parking can be tight and limited on a busy weekend day but they have parking right out front for the Eck bakery customers. Also note that if you pay with card it's a 2.5% charge so cash is better if you have it. We didn't but we know now for future. We had a great experience here and will definitely be back. Next time we'll come earlier and get a bigger order and try their other offerings.

I hear it does get really busy around special occasions/holidays so please plan accordingly.
