First time here but have read.multiple reviews and was intrigued. Did not disappoint in the least, and already planning another dinner. There were three of us and we split the holubtsi (cabbage roll with tomato sauce), the special pelmeni (had a pesto type sauce and slice of radish pretty much for each piece) and the cauliflower schnitzel. Plenty of food for us with 20 pieces of the pelmeni and the two cabbage rolls were ample. Cauliflower was wonderful , and again, an ample portion. Spaetzle was quite tasty. Food was brought promptly and the presentation of the dishes very attractive. And then the dessert. The Carrot Cake Medovik was amazing! All the layers and so tasty! We also had the cheesecake which was good;, fruit compote and apricots gave it pizzaz but just the cake itself was light and flavorful. This is not a New York style and it far surpasses any NY style I've had. The space is interesting. I like the banquettes. I came with my friend to celebrate her birthday. We ordered quite a bit of food since we wanted to try a bunch of items. I would say if you are not a fan of dill to let them know. They put dill on every dish that comes out. I am not a fan but was able to take it off. My favorite dish was the rye varenyky dumplings or Halushki. The spaetzle was really good and reminded me of german spaetzle. The Parsnip Katkes were alright but didn't think they had too much flavor. Our main dishes were the Khachapuri, Kotleta, and their special for the night. The special was a kilbasa sausage with mashed potatoes. The kilbasa was sort of a weird texture from what we were used to and the broth was bland. The sausage was more crumbly and soft and not like a "snap" when you bite into it. The fried chicken was good, but they don't give you too much sauce with it and this was the best part. I would reccomend asking for extra. The georgian cheese bread was presented nicely and could be split with multiple people as it is rich and filled with flavor. Overall the two small plates at the beginning were our favorite and none of the meat dishes blew us out of the water. Not sure I would come again but you do get pretty goo portion sizes for the price. read more

This time we had the cabbage rolls (Halubtsi), the chicken (Kotleta), and the short rib stroganoff. We also ordered the Halushki and Medovik cake again. Holy moly are the cabbage rolls good! And the stroganoff is meaty and luscious. The chicken was perfectly crunchy and moist and when taken with a pea and some arugula, it's a perfect bite. The restaurant is small, but in a charming way, & the service was good- our server was attentive & had many recommendations to share. We started with drinks & they were fantastic, especially the Balkan Stinger! Next we had the halushki, which was tasty but a little lackluster- the main flavor was butter (which I love) &, in my opinion, it would have benefited from a bit more seasoning. For our mains, we got the khachapuri & the kotleta. The kotleta was wonderfully crisp, but again a bit bland, as the sauce didn't add much flavor; the greens on the side, however, were acidic & fresh. The khachapuri was the star of the show- rich & decadent but also very flavorful. For dessert, we had the seasonal medovik, flavored with apple & cardamom. Peyton or Payton was our server she was awesome. Everything was good except the borscht. They took it off our bill. We shared the dumplings the latkes the special with pork ,kielbasa, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes the bread with the egg and cheese and both of desserts. I did not have much experience with Polish food before this so I wasn't sure what to expect and this turned out to be one of my best meals in a long time. Our waitress was super helpful talking through the menu because there's a ton of ingredients that are Eastern European that I had never heard of. The halushki was the standout for me but I also really enjoyed the beef dumplings. Excited to go back and try more stuff! read more

Ambiance was perfect! This place is so cute & welcoming. The cocktails were delicious. The food was top notch! I love that we have Eastern European fine dining in Cincinnati! Unfortunately, our service wasn't the best. We were initially sat at a table that the air conditioning was continuously leaking onto (not just one or two drop, but a constant dribble on the table & our heads!). We asked to move & they wanted to seat us outside or at the bar, even tho we had made reservations for a birthday dinner. We kindly asked if we could just get another table inside. They did make it work, so we appreciate that! From that point on we were feeling better, but our waitress was not attentive. It took her a long while to get back with us, though she'd walk by several times. They incorrectly made my drink & brought it incredibly late (like 20 minutes after we got our dessert- that I was hoping to have alongside the cocktail!). They never once acknowledged the birthday dinner throughout- most restaurants of this caliber would! At least a greeting wishing a happy birthday. Overall, it left us feeling disappointed. This was my second visit, I'm addicted to the Ax of Perun cocktail. It has all my favorites in it (olive, pepperoncini, and pickle), worth the trip alone. I also am a big fan of the khachapuri, so good. This time we also had the beef stroganoff, super tasty. I'd like to try the Kotleta sometime, but that's about the extent of how daring I am with the food menu. Armed with nothing but a paperback book and my NYT crosswords app, I managed to find one of the best meals I've had in a while. Reservations are available online and I booked for shortly after opening, so I got my bar seat immediately. Even though I was dining alone, the staff made the whole experience warm and inviting. They checked on me just often enough. I felt taken care of and wasn't rushed or bothered too frequently. Presentation was beautiful. I'm thankful for the background music, because I may or may not have been legitimately saying "wow, yum" out loud while nodding my head multiple times. * Dumpling Special - I'm so sorry that this is a special. If you're ever blessed enough to stumble upon it, order these butternut squash dumplings and thank me later. I stopped listening to the description after I heard "butternut squash" but the sauce was divine. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly crisp and the pomegranate seeds added little pops of sweetness. I want to eat this every day. * Kulebiaka - Salmon, Dill Rice, Crimini Mushrooms, Puff Pastry, and Béarnaise. I didn't take a picture of the Béarnaise sauce, but it was served in a gravy boat and was incredibly light while still being flavorful. Everything inside this puff pastry package was complimentary to all the other ingredients. How they were able to get the salmon at the exact temp it needed to be while baking inside the pastry will remain a mystery. My favorite part was the dill rice. Something about it brought everything together. The puff pastry was crispy and airy. Not a single complaint. * Medovik - Apple Cardamom Wildflower Honey Cake and Chantilly Smetana. If the taste of Autumn and a cloud from heaven made a love child, this would be it. Such a cozy way to finish a meal. It was much lighter than I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise. I wanted to save a few bites of everything to bring home to share with my boyfriend, but this cake almost didn't make it. So good. * Mokteyl N/A - Hibiscus, Rose Petal, Currant, Lemon, Rosemary, Soda. I don't drink alcohol, so I unfortunately couldn't try any of their cocktails. However, I'm always happy to see a mocktail on the menu so that I can also drink something fun. Good balance of flavors and a nice addition to the meal. All in all, I was so incredibly impressed. Comfort comfort comfort! This was a cozy little place with really great service. My girlfriend and I stopped in here before heading to the Cincinnati Music Hall for a concert. It was less than 10 minutes from the venue. I would suggest a reservation due to limited seating, I think no more than 15 tables plus bar top seats (we sat comfortably at the bar). We started with a couple cocktails. My friend had the Zelenska, a cranberry vodka drink that was effervescent and light tasting. I ordered the Borschtini which was on the opposite end of the spectrum, a thick hearty cocktail, if you do not like beets then do not order it, very beet and horseradish forward but extremely interesting. We ordered our starters which are listed as small plates on the menu. I ordered the Halushki which was caramelized cabbage with onion, brown butter and spaetzle. I really enjoyed the dish and would order it again. My friend ordered borscht and really enjoyed it as well. This is pure comfort food. We ordered a couple more cocktails after this, mine was called Flat Red and was a take on an espresso martini, it was fine although I could really not taste the pomegranate and orange. For my main, called a large plate on the menu, I had the Khachapuri, this is a Georgian cheese bread with egg yolk and more cheese in the interior. Pretty good dish because how can you go wrong with cheese and bread? My friend ordered the Short Rib Stroganoff, oh my was this delicious! I highly recommend this dish, braised short rib, mushrooms, adjika (spicy condiment), pickled mustard seed and polenta. Lastly we finished with dessert, of course! I had the Medovik which is a cake made up of thin layers with apple and cardamom wildflower honey and Chantilly Smetana (a Chantilly cream). Delicious dessert. My friend ordered the Shokolad & Morozyvo which was a brownie with sea buckthorn sour cream ice cream. Worth getting this dessert just for that ice cream. As someone from Ukraine, I often bemoan the sparse number of Slavic restaurants, and doubly so ones that are beyond a dive-ey food court, and this place delivered in force. We had a very nice dinner at Sudova on Saturday night. The food was extremely good. The restaurant is beautiful. Love the design of the place. The tile floor and wall decor is beautiful. The bar is also gorgeous. The service left some to be desired. We were seated quickly upon arrival, but a good amount of time passed before our table was touched again. We ordered a glass of wine which also took a good amount of time. The place was busy but not packed. No one explained the menu or ran through any specials with us. Our order was taken quickly and we felt a bit rushed. We started with the Halushki and the Rye Varenyky. The Halushki was a bit warmer than room temperature. The flavors were fantastic though. The onions were sautéed perfectly and had a light sweetness. The spaetzle had a good chew to it, great texture. The Rye Varenyky was also delicious. The pierogis were filled nicely. The dill sour cream was out of this world. I'd dip anything in that. We also had the Halubsti. I love stuffed cabbage rolls and these were great. The tomato sauce was sweeter than I typically have, and I enjoyed that flare. The Khachapuri is just insanely good. So cheesy. The bread was crispier than I'm used to but I didn't mind that. The dough was a bit sourdoughish, and I also enjoyed that. The Kotleta was fine. The only dish I'd pry skip upon a second visit. Needed more sauce. This place is too good not to do with friends . I went with a open mind because I didn't really know about the menu choices . This is Eastern European so it's a little something for everyone . From the Halushski ( cabbage) to the Kotleta ( friend chicken ) to the rye Varennky (dumplings). Ambiance is dark and moody. They do have outside seating for the warmer months but reservations are highly recommended because it is a quaint space small space . I don't think service was great or bad .. and just don't recall. Sudova is such a beautiful, bright space and every menu item we tried was full of color and flavor. We followed our server Michael's recommendation and started with the Tvorog, which gave us our bread fix alongside a soft farmer's cheese spread. So good! We also shared the Kartoplya Paprikas because who doesn't love fancy potatoes? The paprika vinegret really made these pop! Then we shared the Kotleta, which wad the tastiest and fanciest fried chicken we've had in a long time and the dill sauce really shined here. If you love dill, this is the your perfect chance to pair it with the Axe of Perun cocktail like my dinner date did. For dessert, we again took Michael's recommendation and ordered his favorite: the Karpatka Tort, which is a beautifully flaky pastry filled with a lightly sweet mousse. I enjoyed the Solodka Trava cocktail to start and the Mavka cocktail at the end, and they also have a great wine list too, plus a couple mocktail options. Dinner was amazing!!! Our server Michael was attentive and made great suggestions. Started with Tvorog (farmer cheese with walnut spread with grilled bread). Then Halushki (carmelized cabbage and Spatzele) and Kotleta (fried chicken with dill sauce and peas served with arugula salad) Finished with the wildflower honey cake. A definite must! Happy NYE! We were lucky to get a reservation at the bar where Bailey was our delightful server. While Sudova's predecessor, the Wodka Bar, was a favorite, we weren't sure how we'd feel about its upscale sister. Well, YUM. We shared an order of rye varenky potato sauerkraut dumplings with apple butter, then my husband had the Holubsti, stuffed cabbage rolls, and we shared the buckwheat and millet risotto, complemented by a delicious cremant. We took home leftovers of the risotto so we could try Medovik, the honey cake carried over from Wodka Bar with after dinner liqueurs. My girl friends and I came to celebrate our birthdays, we sat at the bar (with reservation) as the place is very small with limited seating. The courtyard would add space but it was gloomy rainy day. We shared 2 small plates, dumplings and 1 large plate. We started with the cheese spread and sourdough - it was yummy. The dumplings were salty and savory but our favorite was the large chicken "schnitzel"! Since we were celebrating we split the honey cake, they change the flavors seasonally and got greeted with the most delicious lemon poppy goodness! I had a fabulous girls' night dinner here! A friend suggested we come here, and I was surely not disappointed. It gives such a cool New York vibe from the outside and when you walk in. I wish I could give this place more than 5 Stars as it is excellent in every way. First of all, Cincinnati doesn't have many options for this Eastern European Cuisine, so it's great to see Sudova opening up right here in downtown! So many of the dishes feel familiar but also distinctly different than anything I've had before, so it's a really fun time to simply taste through the menu. It's clear that these dishes have been worked on and perfected over time. You HAVE to try the bread with the sweet butter and then take a bite of the fresh green onion with salt! I don't know what I was expecting, but that was a really wild flavor ride that left me pleasantly surprised. My wife hates onions and even enjoyed trying this! Every single dish we tried was excellent and gave that cozy feeling of "home cooking" where it's comforting but also fresh and savory. The wine selection delivered every time and the infused vodka drinks were well balanced. I know you're not supposed to mix so many different types of alcohol , but I also had a beer and it was one of my favorite pilsners I've ever had (from Austria). The interior is beautiful and I really enjoyed the skylights and the large glass front wall. It just had such a moody dynamic and a nice place to have a beautiful meal. And the staff was super polite and very attentive so overall five out of five!! I'm excited to go back and will be taking some friends out with us next time to share the experience!
