They are good here, but they also go pretty fast. Extra effort is not put in to get the details done - they dont have time, unless you ask.

Great, thorough service for $18. Been here twice. Surprised there wasn't a longer line on a Saturday in winter. I have an older Mazda 3, so not particular about the detailing, but they seem to do a great job on nicer cars as well. read more

I will start by saying that I went here on a Sunday, the day everyone under the sun gets their car washed. There were several cars in front of me when I pulled in. They did a good, and reasonably fast, job at cleaning my car which impressed me given they were so busy. I was happy with both the exterior and interior. I take issue with two things: 1) They do take credit cards, mildly inconvenient. There is no mention of this on their website and no sign in the car wash to inform the customers of this. There is an ATM you can use. 2) I was interested in having my car shampooed. When I asked about this I was told I would have to make an appointment and leave my car over night. But, when you look at the FAQs on their website: http://www.sudscw.com/faqs It clearly states they do NOT take appointments. My final opinion is this: If you want a fast cleaning go here. If want anything extra go elsewhere. read more

This was the awkwardest trip to a car wash I've ever had. I'm not a priss. It's just a damned car wash. I wasn't expecting a resort experience. The wash was great, but the experience was just confusing and bizarre. First, it's a bit difficult to figure out where to enter. You have to pull back behind the auto repair place. I had never been here before, so I wasn't sure at first. Okay fine, no big deal, I know next time. Then I pull in, and no one acknowledges me in the least. The place is drive-through style, but it's a hand wash, so they just keep scooching the cars forward as they work on them. Once they pull the car in front of me up, I figure I should move forward too. So I pull up a bit, and one guy finally looks at me and indicates that I should pull up farther. I do, although he keeps waving me forward even though there's a guy standing in the way. I pause, waiting for the guy to move, and the guy waving me looks annoyed that I'm not moving forward faster. Sorry dude, I'm trying not to run over your coworker. I finally finish pulling in and stop, and sort of wait for someone to approach the car, tell me what the do, ask what kind of wash I want, etc. Nobody. The one guy who was waving me forward has already walked away. So I get out of the car and stand next to it, hoping someone will acknowledge my presence or tell me where to go. No one will even look at me. I attempt to ask someone if I should wait here or go find someone at the cashier's desk...which is deserted. Wouldn't look at me, wouldn't talk to me. So I'm just standing there like a moron, looking like some dumb bitch who doesn't know her way around a car place. I walk over to the empty cashier's office, trying to figure out wtf is going on, because I haven't been able to tell anyone what services I want. I just wanted an exterior wash and then the spray wax add-on (I didn't want them to clean the interior). Finally a person who I now realize is the cashier/manager comes over. I had seen him before and thought he was a customer, because he was socializing with another customer. I know he saw me standing awkwardly by my car before, and made no attempt to direct me in any way. So he comes in, barely says anything to me, and just sort of stands by the desk. I say, "Hi, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to tell them out there what I wanted, or tell you." He made some nondescript noise and sort of shook his head, vaguely implying, "Eh, it doesn't matter." So I sort of pause and then tell him what I want. He says okay, and goes to tell the guys who will be washing my car. I wait for a few minutes, and he comes back and sort of points at me and says, "You. You're all set." He starts to usher me back to my car, but I remind him that I still have to pay. I pay my $14 ($11 for external wash and $3 for spray wax - not bad at all). He ushers me out the door and I look for someone to hand a tip to, but no one is near me. Then I realize there's a tip box. I drop a fiver in the slot and walk toward my car. I almost slip from the spray wax that is now coating the rubber mats under my feet. I get in the car, and my keys are nowhere to be found. WTF. Then the owner runs over and grabs my keys off a random hook on the wall. Like I was supposed to know they were there. I pull out, and as I make the turn around the curb, my wheels spin and squeal, because of all the spray wax they've been sitting in. Great, another reason for me to feel like some dumb bitch. Was the wash good? Yeah, it's good. It's definitely better than a gas station car wash. With tip it ends up being like $20, which is more than I was used to spending in LA, but it's not bad for an all-hand wash. I will come back here, because it's close and they do a good job. I'll just know to expect serious awkwardness. I guess I know the drill now. read more

I've been going to SUDS since they were Spex. Unfortunately the service has gone completely down hill. Today I was the only car in the there. You would think by being the only car they would take their time working on it and making sure its spotless. Well just the opposite. Once they were finished and I pulled off, I noticed my car looked as if it hadn't even been vacuumed. The vinyl looked dirty like know one had wiped it down. Years ago this would've never happened. On top of all of that they've raised prices. This is the second time I've been there and they did a subpar job, so its obviously the standard now. My car is rarely very dirty, so it just shows they've fallen off in terms of service. Next time I'm going to the $3 wash and doing it myself. 20 years of being a customer but no more SUDS for me. read more

I had my car detailed at Suds on Greenbay and I am amazed that it totally looks brand new! They were able to buff off minor scratches and even tiny dents look hardly noticeable! Highly recommend this business! read more

Suds has always done a great job cleaning my cars and the one time I've used them for detailing was fantastic. Yes, the wait is long if there are a lot of cars... it takes a long time to check out at the grocery store if there's a line there too... No, they don't have a relaxing spa environment or Ritz Carlton customer service... it's a car wash. They do have friendly, hardworking employees who do a great job washing your car for a fair price. read more

My husband and I have been taking our cars to Suds for quite some time. Their washes have always been thorough, though nothing extraordinary. On our most recent visit, the driver's side mirror was damaged after the car had been washed. When my husband pointed it out to one of the employees, the employee took a defensive stance and directed him to the supervisor on duty. When my husband explained that our car was damaged, the supervisor stated that it wasn't his fault our car was "cheap." Perhaps they should invest in a large sign that reads "Only luxury cars welcome here." I should note that my husband had already paid, did not request money or a refund, and wasn't angry/aggressive in his tone or body language. My husband simply wanted the mirror repaired. The supervisor offered no solution. We sent a message to Suds through their website, and have received no response. The customer service was pretty terrible. I won't be back. read more

I've never written a yelp review before but this place was so HORRIBLE I felt I needed to. The car looked fine when I first got it washed but ended up having soap spots on it after it rained. My problem with this car wash is the attitude of the owner. He behaves like he is doing you a favor. And what is with all that smoking?? And they have a stupid payment policy About using credit cards. Seriously? In this day and age? Also I don't feel my car is really clean after the wash. I notice the big difference when I go to a car wash in highland park. Unfortunately I don't have that many choices in Evanston. The lines are usually long so be prepared to spend 30 - 60 mins especially anytime on the weekend. No time is good. Always crowded and no one tell looks wowed when they are driving their car out. I think they use cheap cleaning supplies. Only good thing I can say is that I haven't hAd any stealing incidence since I leave stuff in my car. Not a place I look forwArd to coming to. Failed to remove heavy collection of leaves and twigs in spaces between windshield and hood. Were they blind? I also did not like the attitude of the manager when I later complained. Also, they don't take a credit card in payment for one wash; you have to sign up for three. read more

DO NOT USE THIS CAR WASH. I called several days ago to make an appointment for a detail and was told that they don't make appointments, so I should just show up. When I showed up at opening this morning, the manager said I couldn't just show up for a detail and I'd have to come back another day. When I asked how it works to get a detail, he wouldn't explain. He just repeated that I needed to leave and come back another day . He refused to look me in the eye. Perhaps the manager had a bad night's sleep, perhaps he didn't like something about me. I don't know for sure. I took the manager's advice, however, and left with my car. I will never return. I recommend that you, gentle reader, choose a competitor for your vehicle. read more

I used to get my car washed here regularly. It was quick and thorough. I hadn't been in quite some time and came back today. Very, very disappointing. The entire crew has changed, and there are only half the people working that there used to be. This means that a wash takes twice as long. The service was shoddy and careless. SCRATCHED MY CAR & VERY RUDE They got angry with me for using a credit card, and only allowed it if I buy multiple car washes. There are certainly nice ways to communicate company's policies to the customer but they didn't even try to be nice. They were very rude and arrogant. Then I asked the manager to tell his people not to change the position of my seat, which they did anyway. To be fair, I haven't found a car wash place that would be able to follow this simple instruction. Most importantly, they scratched my car by dropping an air nozzle on it. The air nozzle was hanging on a hose, and it hit the car multiple times when the worker was trying to hang the nozzle on a hook. The scratches were not huge, but they were not small either. Definitely visible from 15 feet away. It is a brand new car, and this was the very first time it got scratched. When I complained about it to the manager, instead of an apology (the very least he could have done), he told me "Relax, it is just a car. They get scratched." read more

I was very impressed by this car wash service. The cleaners were very polite and very thorough. I had a few scratches from a garage accident, when they were through you couldn't see where it had gotten scraped up! You do need to get there 15 minutes before closing or you may be turned away. I spent $200 to get my car detailed and there were still dead bugs smashed on the front of the car when I went to pick it up. When I pointed this out, they sent a worker with a rag over to clean it better, but no one said sorry or that this wasn't the kind of service they aim to provide - they made me feel like I was being too picky. My boyfriend got a regular car wash at the same time for $40 and to be honest, there wasn't much of a different between the way our cars looked afterwards.
