I finally got up the nerve to go in with a friend of mine on a Saturday night and while it wasn't jam packed, there was a good number of people there singing and laughing, plus they were doing karaoke! Since that first time in there, I've been back quite a few times and I've noticed a few things. 1) No one is going to let you sit alone for very long. Someone is going to come up to you and greet you and engage you in a conversation. 2) The men and women who hang out in Smokey's are some of the most wonderful people, very friendly! 3) The bartenders are some of the most welcoming and friendly people I've ever met. 4) Great selection and prices for the beer! The atmosphere is so laid back and relaxed, it's very quickly becoming my favorite place to go spend a few hours after work to just chill out and relax. Plus the taco truck right next door has amazing food! Great company, great beer, and great access to food makes this place so wonderful. I've truly never met nicer, more friendly people than I have here. Don't judge it for it's appearance, get to know the people inside. I don't regret coming here every day, the people make it so easy!

Its the kind of place that feels like it belongs exactly where it is, like a little mountain town comfort food spot that actually delivers on the concept. The food is hearty and real. I got a sandwich and fries and it was exactly what you want after hiking around in the heat. Nothing overthought, just good ingredients done right. The portions are generous and the prices are fair for what you get. The staff was friendly in that genuine small town way, not performative, just actually nice. The space has character and sitting there you kind of just decompress. Its in Three Rivers so obviously its not a quick Fresno lunch run, but if your already out that way its 100% worth building your stop around. One of those spots you think about on the drive home.

Staff were immediately welcoming, personable to talk with, patient, and helpful not just to us but all other guests around! The chicken and mole was a delightful surprise to see on the menu, and it blew our minds! We were a party of 9 yet the young lady, our server, helped us with a smile. We all really appreciated her, unfortunately I didn't get her name. They don't have as many reviews as other places, but we noticed they had the highest stars. So we gave them a try. My husband had also pointed out prior to eating there that La Longosta had a really low amount of reviews (I think under 50) with a score of 4.6 stars, compared to Casa Mendoza up the street with over 1,200 reviews and 3.6 stars. Well, my husband said, "This is why sometimes less is certainly more!", because despite not having a ton of reviews yet, this place blew us away. The flavors and portions were outstanding. The customer service was great! We were greeted and seated immediately, got some chips and salsa on the house (the salsas were great!), and we got drinks right away. Food didn't take too long, either. Now, I totally judge Mexican restaurants on three things - and if these three things are bad, then it's always downhill from there for me: 1) House/table salsa. 2) Beans. 3) Rice. When these simple staples of any Mexican cuisine are done completely wrong, almost always everything else lacks. My husband and me looked at one another and right away commented on the refried beans! They were very delicious. Oh! And their tortillas are all homemade on the spot. I mean.......come on!! My husband got the Asada plate. The meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned very nicely! I got the combo #2 with 1 asada taco (I asked for dorado), 1 cheese enchilada, and 1 chile relleno. I left no crumbs! My two teen daughters got the Botana Frita which comes with mussels, octopus, and shrimp, and mixed with veggies in a spicy red sauce. This was super tasty!!! The sauce was very delicious with just enough spice that wouldn't overwhelm your palate. And for my two little ones, they settled for the chicken tenders with fries. They were pretty good, and a nice option for the kiddos that don't like Mexican food. We plan to make this an annual trip with the kids and we've already claimed this spot as the must-stop when coming back! Highly recommend! 10/10
