Blueberry iced tea and blueberry pomegranate smoothie
    Hannah M.

This bakery seemed like a fun pit stop on our way to Acadia National Park, but it didn't live up the the reviews IMHO. The service was slow and the two employees at the counter were pretty rude. When I asked about some allergy information, they suggested I just don't order anything because they don't keep track, even though the things I was looking to order weren't supposed to have anything scary in them. When we finally settled on drinks, I was pretty shocked. They charge premium prices for drinks here ($5-$7) but use cheap ingredients. Their smoothies don't use real fruit, and the "blueberry" iced tea is just regular iced tea with blueberry syrup - it's not even homemade. I saw the employee pump a crazy amount of what seemed to be the cheap coffee stuff into a cup. For a state that produces 99% of the blueberries in the country, you'd think local places like this would take advantage of that. Or at least charge the same amount restaurants do for artificially flavored drinks ($1-$3).

3.5 stars Was okay... it was close to the inn we were staying at. Their hours were good and they had a selection of blueberry pie, pastries, muffins, whoopies, and cupcakes (should've gotten the pumpkin one). I got the chocolate croissant (similar to Starbuck's, but it wasn't warmed up like they do it) and a blueberry pomegranate smoothie. My dad got the big elephant ear pastry and a coffee (which he said was a little bitter). Our total came out to about $15. The guy working at the time was friendly and made a few jokes with us. There wasn't any seating inside which was unfortunate, since the picnic tables were uncovered and soaked from the early morning rain, so we had to our stuff back to our room. 2021 #84

A simple yet lovely bakery across our cottage inn. The lady who helped us was very nice or generally people in Maine is nice. Lots of choices shown on the shelf and of course got to try the blueberry pie. It was delicious. We got a cold coffee and perfect taste to my husband liking. Stop by and grab something for a sugar fix before heading to Acadia or Bar Harbor, worth the try.

I don't know what to talk about first. The cheesecake. Their business model. Trust. Faith…read more Okay, the cheesecake. FRICKEN' AMAZING and DELICIOUS. Every single flavor that we tried...... and we had a really difficult time deciding which flavors to try of their 60 +/- flavors AT ALL TIMES. We didn't want to be pigs about it... well, actually, we DID want to be pigs, but we didn't let ourselves, and it was darn difficult to limit how many flavors to try out of 60. Every piece was fresh, perfectly made cheesecake, and every flavor was well represented. Being in Maine, we HAD to try blueberry cheesecake. We also tried strawberry, lemon blueberry, cannoli, apple crisp, and s'mores. Sad to say, we never finished them, but we tried them all, and they lasted a good long while. All were perfect and delicious. Now, for their business model. Imagine a business open 24/7... the doors are always open, and NOBODY is working in the storefront with the exception of people (the owners, I'm assuming) loading in more cheesecake flavors when they run out. The business is run COMPLETELY on the honor system. If memory serves, there are 3 ways to pay, but I only recall with specificity the Venmo way to pay cuz that's what I used. I think they accepted checks and one more way to pay, but I don't really recall. Let me be clear, though... it is up to each individual to be on their honor system and pay for what they want to take. Where else on this earth do you know of any retail type shop where people are left to their honor to pay for goods? I have never heard of nor seen any such thing like this before. I could have just as easily walked right out with my cheesecake slices and not paid for any of them. Nobody would have known. They don't check. They don't ask. I'm so impressed by this business model and the fact that it works !!!! I witnessed it. Everyone was paying. It truly is a testament about faith and trust, and it still works. This is just brilliant. Momo's also sells gargantuan pieces of carrot cake, which we did not try, as well as whoopie pies, which we also didn't try. If they sell other items besides the above, I just didn't see them, but I think they have quite enough already. Sixty + flavors of cheesecake alone should keep people happy. The only downside to Momo's is that we live nowhere near it, but I'm truly glad for the experience we had.

Such a fun experience to go in and make some tough decisions - or don't and just get one of each! I didn't realize I needed a grab and go cheesecake experience in my life until my friend sent a reel about this place!! I got the lemon blueberry, it was amazing. So much flavor, well balanced combo of lemon and blueberry coming through! My friend got the Cherry Garcia and I tried a bite, it was good, nice cherry and chocolate pairing! Apologies to the those facing lactose challenges, this place is going to feel like torture! I did get some baklava, which as also delicious! There are some other cake options as well.

That blueberry pie was the best pie on earth. I don't need to describe every detail. It's absolute perfection. Seriously, this pie is so good you might have to admit it's better than your grandmother's. The location is tucked away on the main road in and out of Bar Harbor. It's so cute! Mount Desserts Pie Company had thousands of positive reviews, so we decided that's where we had to go. When you arrive, there is a handmade sign on the side of the highway for the shop and the driveway to pull in is a little tricky and takes a minute to figure it out. We pulled up right in front of the doors. Tip: turning right after you enter the driveway says "exit" only, so you have to pull straight ahead, even if it seems like you're not supposed to park there. We headed inside and were greeted by a friendly woman named Brit who had a ton of pie boxes ready to go! We got our blueberry pie and ate half of it in the car after we drove away. The pie was exactly what we wanted: fresh, local, great texture, and buttery crust. It was perfection! Another tip: it's cash or Venmo only and you can call ahead. $35 per pie. It's whole pies only, they don't sell by the slice.

They're absolutely delicious when still warm and fresh out of the oven and they bake them pretty much all day, so they're just about always fresh. One of my favorite ways to enjoy them over the years was to get the maple butter and blueberry jam and mix the two. The flavors of the butter, maple and blueberry all complimented the savory flavor of the popover. However, this year I was disappointed to see that they no longer are offering the maple butter, even for an upcharge. Please bring this back, it really took the popovers to another level! Maybe whip it into thawed butter instead of hand mixing it to make it easier? The whipped butter is easier to dip in and spread anyway. The new pre-packaged / mass produced butter packs take away from the appeal of a freshly-made popover. Sometimes in the morning it can be a little crowded in here with people waiting for their coffee / drinks to be made by a counter not far from where you place your order, so if you're walking in and haven't ordered yet then check if the people standing around are just waiting on coffee or waiting to order. It would be a nice improvement to see some separation (maybe with some ropes or floor markings) to make it more clear who is in line to order and who is waiting for their beverage to be made. It's worth noting it's takeout only and there's nowhere inside to sit, but there are some benches just outside on the sidewalk where you can have your popover and coffee.
