Really a spot for some quick breakfast options; like a shorter line for a pop-over than elsewhere in the further off sections of the park. However, I think we would've gladly retried our coffees elsewhere they were very much not anything we would have wanted to retry. It can get crowded quick because it's got the curb appeal and some of the other local coffee houses equally seem to struggle with consistent recipe-quality. Maybe try more of the food and report back. read more

Coffee Hound was right in front of us and we almost missed it. Found the signage on the window. The marquis says The Stadium. Don't miss this place. I got a hot latte which was delicious. The pastries in here will be something I'd like to go back for. Cookies the size of my head and fresh blueberry crisp. Yummmm. They also had dog treats which we will go back for. The BEST coffee shop. We stopped by here every morning of our trip to grab coffee, and we enjoyed drinking our way through their menu. Their iced precipice was my favorite - the perfect mixture of coffee with sweet blueberry and white chocolate. Definitely sweeter, but so delicious. If you like banana, the Chunky Monkey was also great and really hits that banana flavor. Acadian Turtle was also a big winner. Found the best popovers of our trip here. Fresh and hot, grab it with the blueberry jam... Delish!! Definitely gets busier in the morning, and one day we were here the line went out the door. So be prepared to wait (but it's worth it!). Right next to the water, grab your coffee and your popover, and go enjoy them on a bench overlooking the harbor. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful views! Must stop for your morning coffee. read more

We're staying in town for the week near the end of the commercial strip. This place was ranked #1, so we figured it be worth the walk to the other end of town. Super touristy vibe. No handwritten signs or specials of the day, here. Coffee station is towards the back, after passing the deli station, tourist T-shirt sales and other trinkets. It looked like their espresso drinks were made by a machine, so I figured I'd keep it simple and just get a double espresso. To complete the experience, you're given one of those vibrating remotes to tell you your order is ready. No inside seating we could find, which is ok. Nice weather to walk down the street. The actual drink? Unfortunately pretty meh, on par with a gas station espresso. We'll keep looking for other options in town. I'm a little concerned, because I'm usually 100% aligned with Yelp reviews - hopefully there is good coffee somewhere in town. They did have various cookies displayed at the front door that looked and smelled amazing. read more

The food is SO good. Couldn't decide which to get but i got the oatmeal raisin cookie and the others with me got the ham and cheese crepe and the blueberry crisp and they said they loved them too. I also got the gourmet hot chocolate which wasn't quite as sweet as i was expecting but still really good and savory. The vibes are great in here too. No space to linger or sit, but there's gifts and apparel to buy while you're in there. plus it smells so good with all the baked goods and coffee. I came here hoping for a coffee shop to sit down in around Bar Harbor and was disappointed to see they have NO indoor seating like the older pictures indicate. The shop gives a very touristy vibe (makes sense..it IS downtown Bar Harbor) and the place has a lot of options for food and drinks. My coffee was pretty good, but did not blow me out of the park. My partner got a blueberry lemonade which was delicious and a popover with blueberry jam that he absolutely loved. We'd likely come back for a popover, but next time I'm in the area looking for coffee, I'd probably go elsewhere. read more

I was really excited for Coffee Hound but ran into a few snags while I was here. I ordered the Sand Beach Latte (oat milk latte) and was given a plain oat milk latte. When I noticed, they were kind enough to fix it, but instead of remaking the drink they added the flavor into my cup which didn't mix well and was overpowering and sweet. I almost couldn't finish it, and I want not comfortable asking them to remake it again. I'm sure it was a simple mistake, but my drink was more expensive than my usual Starbucks order. If I was in the area again, I might give them another shot because of the excellent reviews. read more

Bar Harbor, ME is about as touristy as it can get, and the usual 'sit-down' breakfast places have long waits. Enter the Coffee Hound! No, you can't sit down there ... BUT you can take your food and walk about a block or so and eat it on a bench at the beautiful Maine waterfront. And that's exactly what we did. I ordered an egg and cheese, and it was delicious, big and thick and surrounded by a soft homemade roll. It went down sooo easy! I also love donuts, and they only make one ... but that's all they have to make because that's delicious, too! The same with their muffins. It seems as though they make one of everything, and it's just yummy. Highly recommended! P.S. IMPORTANT! If you want to get an early start on one of the many Acadia National Park's hiking paths, the Coffee Hound is open at 7am, whereas all the others breakfast places don't open 'til 8am. The popovers were good and the coffee was okay. the matcha was not very good, especially for the price point. we would be open to trying other pastries and food options there, but would likely not return for coffee or matcha. read more

Coffee Hound was my Number 1 result when I searched "coffee" for "Bar Harbor, ME" in Yelp before coming to town. I was looking for Coffee Hound earlier this week when somebody told me the old location had closed and Coffee Hound "moved inside the Stadium". Local Mainers may laugh, but I took this statement literally to mean, that there was some sort of stadium in town, and Coffee Hound's sole location was inside that stadium. Since I didn't sense any sort of baseball or football game in the area, I punted on Coffee Hound since the stadium couldn't possibly be open. After finding coffee elsewhere that day, I later learned that "The Stadium" is the name of a restaurant right in downtown Bar Harbor and that Coffee Hound and The Stadium share space. Today, I was back in Bar Harbor at coffee time and I had an opportunity to correct this misunderstanding. Inside, there was indeed shared space for the Stadium and Coffee Hound. I ordered a black iced cold brew at a cash register, and coffee pickup was in a different area. For the first time in my personal coffee history, they called my name for pickup before I was even done paying. An employee, who must have overheard my order in real time, smiled as I picked up my coffee. Definite points for service and efficiency. The cold brew was decent. I understand that Coffee Hound sources and roasts it's own coffee beans. I didn't ask, but the coffee seemed like a dark roast blend with notes of dark chocolate. And if I had to guess, it was probably made of washed process beans from Central or South America. The cold brew was smooth and balanced, but otherwise didn't really distinguish itself for me. I took the iced coffee down by the Harbor where my family was eating ice cream. With the water, boats, and a grassy green hill, it was a great setting for cold brew. Four Stars. read more

Recently visited Bar Harbor from 8/20-8/24. We came here every single morning and at least one other time each day! The Stadium is also the coffee hound shop. I tried the Maple Leaf, precipice, sand beach, and moose track lattes. Each one was not overly done which I really appreciated. The maple leaf ended up being my favorite while my MIL loved the Moose Tracks. The kids mac n cheese was perfect when I needed something small to eat. Our group tried the popovers (which were so so good) and the jam it comes with is amazing. I suggested they sell it! The blueberry donut, everything bagel sandwich (my husband said it's the best he's ever had), blueberry scone, and chocolate chip cookie were all great. Hubby is the coffee drinker in the family, but I can't turn down a great matcha green tea or other tea latte. We stopped in here while waiting for breakfast one of our days in bar Harbor and had a great experience. The team behind the counter was upbeat, friendly and outgoing, almost to the point of being too much so. There were a few people in line ahead of us, but they were running the orders out so fast, I was really impressed with their timeliness. I was pleased to see that they had multiple tea alternatives to coffee drinks, so I ordered a London fog, and he got a red eye. Our drinks were beautiful and tasty, and we really enjoyed them. We had such a good experience the first time, that we returned the next day for another. He got the red eye again, and I opted for a rocky road latte which was interesting and sweet but not overly so. The guy behind the counter remembered us, and he even gave us a military discount which was sweet. Prices are moderately high but it is a bit touristy, so I get it. The ambiance is great, with artwork from the manager/owner on the walls which I thought was cool. The drinks were well made and tasted like they were high quality, and we definitely would return here for a caffeine boost on our next trip to Bar Harbor. read more

Stopped in a couple of times during our time in Bar Harbor for fuel, both of the coffee and the food persuasion, and our experience couldn't have been better. First off, the gentleman running the place was amazing. I'm not sure if he was the owner (I think he was, but he introduced himself before I had my coffee so I'm blanking on both his title and his name, unfortunately) but he was amazing. Chatted us up comfortably like we were old friends, gave us some great recommendations of things to do in town, and also some great recs of things to try at his own establishment. There is lots to try here, from baked goods to lobster rolls, but seeing as how we were there in the mornings I decided on the crepes, which were excellent. I got the blueberry (when in Maine!) while my husband got a muffin. I casually mentioned how the maple crepe also sounded amazing and the aforementioned awesome dude gave us one to try on the house. Oh man, it was so simple but SO good. The blueberry was also great but I think I liked the maple just a bit more. There as just something really fantastic about the simplicity of the crepe shell, a bit of butter, and maple. As for beverages, my husband got his regular, a plain cappuccino, but I went with one of their fancy iced drinks, the Acadia Turtle, an iced mocha with caramel and hazelnut. Very sweet but very yum! Great place to grab coffee and a treat downtown. I got a precipice latte that was made with blueberry syrup and white mocha - so good! Not overly sweet and subtle blueberry flavor. Drip coffee was good also. We will be back for other treats because everything looked amazing, especially the lobster rolls. Service was very quick and employees were very pleasant. Inside is really cute and cozy. Didn't see any place to sit inside but there are a ton of benches just outside to sit and enjoy while you people watch. read more

A nice little coffee shop in Bar Harbor that's easy in and out, and has views for days when you step outside. Their specialty drinks all looked really good, but playing it safe, i.e. boring, I got the black coffee. It was nice on a cold afternoon, but would've tasted a bit better in the morning as it had sat a bit. Again though, they have so many different options for the latte drinkers out there that I think this is a nice little spot. It's also one of the only straight up coffee shops around, so worth a visit for any caffeine fiends out there passing through. read more

I ordered a flat white with vanilla. It was supposed to be steamed cream, but it was very watery and bitter. Not sweet. Not drinkable. My husband got a vanilla latte. It was about as good as a typical Starbucks. We also got two blueberry scones. They were really lacking in flavor. It all cost over $21. I was disappointed because the reviews and photos looked really great. But our experience was not good. I'm sorry we drove out of the way to come here.
