Wow! That's how I have to start this review! A group of eight visited this awesome spot on Saturday and had such a nice experience! The staff were so sweet--no wonder they work at the Sugar Bar ! We ordered a little bit of everything (sweet treats and drinks--both non-alcoholic and with alcohol) and everything was delicious! My favorite was the pistachio cake. This used to be a Le Macaron chain, but it's now locally owned and operated at Sugar Bar. Nate and I stopped in before a show for a sweet treat. They have chocolates, bon bons, gelato, coffee drinks, and more. We ordered two of the cookie sandwiches, which we were told are made daily by a local pastry chef. The blueberry cookie was my favorite - it was soft and full of blueberries. The passionfruit one wasn't as flavorful. The buttercream frosting was super sweet, so we probably could have split one and been happy. I love that they have gelato flights! I didn't see any pricing posted for the treats when we visited, but the total was just over $10 for the two cookie sandwiches. They are handmade (vs. frozen and shipped in) so that makes sense. The employee helping us was super sweet and friendly, which I appreciated. If you're looking for a dessert that doubles as a showstopper, this is it! I stopped in for a sweet treat and left with a full-blown dessert masterpiece that was almost too pretty to eat... almost! I asked if they could make a Strawberry Cheesecake shake (not even on the menu!) and they said yes without hesitation, seriously amazing staff! What I got was a pink, creamy dream topped with a raspberry-filled cupcake (yes, an actual cupcake!), a fluffy macaron, sour gummies, a cherry-red gumball, Twizzlers, and strawberry Pocky sticks. The sprinkle-coated rim just took it over the top. It was childhood joy + gourmet indulgence all in one. My friend had the Lemon Love shake: zesty, bright, and topped with lemon cake, candies, and a green macaron. What a delightful little French Patisserie. The macarons are fabulous! They have the traditional flavors as well as some fun new flavors to try. We had 6 macarons: ginger (SO full of ginger flavor), pistachio, Belgium chocolate, vanilla, and birthday cake. We also purchased a couple pieces of dark chocolate pretzel bark. The bark base was very good; but the pretzels were a little soft and chewy, not the crunch one would expect. A fun Parisian inspired shoppe with gelato, homemade cookies and candies. They have delicious espresso to cut the sweets. Love the decor inside. Many fun spots for selfies. We had the gelato flight which was a fun way to sample 4 different types of gelato for just $9. Great location in the heart of the action on Monroe Center right across from Rosa Parks Circle.
