Ordered Omelette with an extra egg because their build your own omellette is only 3 eggs for $13.95. Didn't want the hash browns or pancakes. Opted for rye toast (in lieu of pancakes) and a side of cottage cheese. Water to drink. Was asked if i wanted butter on the toast. After asking if they use butter or margarine, it was confirmed they use margarine. So toast was ordered dry and I would be required apply butter by opening the small "whipped butter" packets inborder to enjoy some buttered rye toast . The Omellette was ok taste-wise...but the entire time eating it my mind is questioning if I'm consuming eggs cooked in margarine? Then I'm thinking of the experiment where I placed an unwrapped stick of margarine on a dish in my garage for 2 weeks and observed that not an insect, rodent or any other living creature disturbed the lab born condiment...completely untouched orbdisturbed.. and thus I haven't poisoned my body with that garabage ever since...until possibly now??? Place was dirty with soot on the window sill at my booth. Bill comes and is over $20...highest price I've paid for that meal anywhere, which i order from various establishments a few times a week (including the 5 egg omellete establishments). Then I'm asked "cash or card?" Then informed that DEBIT card is another upcharge of $1.40, or so. The "how was everything" converstaion deserved a comment from me about the ridiculous price I'm paying for some eggs. The off-putting, I assume, owner steps in, then starts trying to justify the upcharges that resulted in a $26 omelette (by the time i threw in a $5.00 tip). This guy continued trying to convince me that he has the lowest prices and best quality...blah blah blah...trying do hard convince me his price chiseling way of doing business is justifiablr. Oh, well, could it be that I feel my arteries are clogging with margarine as i write this? Oh well..won't visiting this place again. read more

I ordered the House Special -- 3 Eggs Any Style (they know what over medium means - very nicely prepared) Served with a POUND of ham off the bone, served with homemade hash browns and choice of toast or buttermilk pancakes. (Waitress let me get one cake and one toast) Read that again -- ONE POND of succulent ham off the bone. I always take away enough for another couple of sandwiches later. Makes this a very cost effective breakfast. Also, look at the pic of the tea service. TWO teabags, honey, FRESH lemon slices and enough hot water for 1.5 cups. I put both bags into the pot and it came out English Breakfast dark. A very proper cuppa. My server Kristine kept making helpful suggestions while I ordered and was very attentive during the entire meal. A true professional. I love the ambiance of the place. It's like classic family brunch place. Very cozy. The service was amazing . Friendly staff. The owner was very nice and very welcoming. The food was great. I had the protein burger and added avocado to it. I also had the lemon rice chicken soup and it was flavorful. The spaghetti has an amazing flavor to it and just the right amount of seasonings. We arrived around the lunch rush on Sunday and were seated pretty quickly when a group of curmudgeons left because the wait was too long. Our server was out quickly and was super friendly. We got strawberry banana crepes, Mickey Mouse pancakes, a scramble and an omelet. All of it was delicious! We also got fresh squeezed orange juice that was so good. After taking the advice from my dad to try this place out, I understand why the parking lot was so busy! We were warmly welcomed when we walked through the door and promptly seated in a booth by a window. Juan (I think that was our name) was our server and he quickly brought over waters and asked us for our beverage preference. I ordered coffee, hoping it was going to be better than the previous restaurants that occupied the building- and it was very good! I saw the house frittata on the menu and it instantly sounded good, so I ordered that and my BF ordered the country lady, or something to that extent, and a short stack of pancakes. Our food came out no more than 10 minutes after we ordered, if that. It was fresh and the portions were enormous! Both of our meals tasted as good as they looked and were a great value for the price and amount of food that was served. Throughout our meal, Juan kept us not needing or wanting for anything. Under the expectation for normal breakfast foods - which TBH should be easy to make. The sad soggy hash browns in my skillet made it pretty taste-less... Except for the extremely raw onions I had to pick out. Yikes. Just take 5 more minutes to cook the food. Also a bit disappointed that a place called "Sugar Bowl" wasn't cute. I was hoping for a kitsch theme - sugar bowls on the table at least. Maybe you can't put sugar in a sugar bowl for sanitary purposes (?) but at least have one holding the creamers or something. Do I begin this review with the poor service and lack of interest or do I start with the failed attempt of basic cooking? I took my mother to the Sugar Bowl for breakfast. Neither of us had been here and was told by someone to check it out. We sat down and poured cream into our coffee. Both coffees were ruined with spoiled creamer packets. No big deal, it happens, right? We get new coffees and new creamer packets without a single "I'm sorry this happened". My moms coffee was ruined again and decided to push through the taste and chunks floating so we don't cause commotion. Long story short both of our over medium eggs had runny egg whites. My mom tries to get her eggs redone and they cook her new ones except this time they are brown and well over cooked. The cooking channel says eggs are hard to cook and these cooks prove them right. We never heard an "I'm sorry". The hash browns were dull and flavorless. The coffee didn't taste fresh. The only thing that shined were the pancakes. They were amazing! The staff were nice enough to give us 10% off but we both would rather go to Sophia's House of Pancakes where we always have good experiences and great food! read more
