The food was excellent and always has been. Service was great. Biggest complain is that it feels like 30 years since they did upkeep. Place needs new carpet, booths, and bathroom need a total remodel. Feels like the 90s in a bad way instead of the 50s in a good way. But the food is worth it for sure. read more

Been here many times for breakfast and lunch. I love the cornbeef hash and the mickey burger (basically a cheeseburger). The burger doesn't come with a side, so you have to add those on. Food was good... but we got there around 7:15 and they close at 8. I wanted the chicken and dumpling soup but they said they had put it away for the night. I said you don't close till 8. It was 7:20 by the time we ordered. It seems like the restaurant is run by young people that are in a hurry to get out. Schoop's Hamburgers is half way between my house and Shipshewana, Indiana. Perfect for us to stop for a Friday afternoon lunch. We haven't been to a Schoop's in years but we always remember their hamburgers with the crispy edges. Our lunch was terrific. I've been going to Schoops for many years at one of their many locations and was recently in the area to go to this one. It was around dinnertime and I was hungry. I was craving a good burger and thought this place would fit the bill. I pulled into the lot and walked in. There was a nice crowd and I settled at a seat (you get to seat yourself here!) I decided on a Mushroom and Swiss Burger and inquired about their soup. Their special of the day was a cheeseburger soup so thought I'd be daring and try it. A short bit later I got my soup and then after my burger and fries. All were good tasting and filling (not to mention a nice sized portion). This morning me, my sister and a friend decided to go to Schoops for breakfast. The atmosphere there is always good. The food is good but today it was outstanding. Not sure what is different but I thoroughly enjoyed it. We all had breakfast with sides of sausage gravy. So, so good. Our server Brenda was an old school server.
