Hey, not a bad ice cream shop at all! It's incredibly difficult not to compare it to Salt & Straw in Portland, as it's a similar setup. The flavors are absolutely on point, the service is prompt, and the location is ideal. However, the prices are a little more than what's reasonable, in my opinion. Came in and asked for a extra small scoop (3.50$) and they charged for me for a single scoop (4.00$). And the dude said "you got two sugar cones so we are charging you for the waffle cone (1.50$)". Ended up paying 4.00$ after getting the 1.50$ from him . So in the end I still paid more than what I was supposed to .. 3.50$ . Disappointed The transaction went through and I went out and realized what happened. I went back in and talked to another guy who looks like the manager. Tells him I got charged for a single scoop and the dude that charged me looks over and says "oh yup you did". And then I told the manager that he charged me for a waffle cone and the dude who charged me leans over and says I gave him sugar cones .... Why wouldn't you just give me the waffle cone if you charged me for it? And how are you charging everyone else correctly but me? The manager proceeds to look for my transaction that I placed less than 3 minutes ago and asks if I have the last 4 digits of my card. My boyfriend and I were in Albany. Searched for Ice cream in Corvallis. Came up with your place. We walked in and you were very friendly and welcoming. A little problem happened but you fixed it didn't bat an eye and refunded us. Even after all that we had these amazing spoons that changed colors. These were great that we wanted to buy a couple to take home and give to our neighbors little ones to enjoy them. Nope you wouldn't let me buy them and instead gave me several. Cute, comfortable, clean ice cream shop right near the splash pad on the river walk, so a perfect post-splash spot for kiddos. We were happy to find Sugar J's on the first day of our visit to Corvallis, and happily returned for more frozen goodness on subsequent days. Flavors are bright and texture is creamy. We tried the cookie dough (lots of dough chunks), vanilla (rich, decadent true vanilla flavor), coffee (perfection!), lemon bar (tart lemony taste with real chunks of lemon bar), and peppermint pattie (minty and chocolatey delight). Staff were super friendly each time we were in and even remembered us from our first visit. Portion sizes and pricing are fair. The flavors are yummy. Got a split scoop of strawberry and cookie dough. The portions are huge for a split scoop. They have actual bowls if you are eating there.
