Sugar Lips Mini Donuts continues to be one of the highlights of our regular ski trips to Copper Mountain! When we're staying at the resort, we come here practically every day with our young kids. They love watching the doughnuts being made right in front of them, almost as much as they love eating fresh doughnuts with the toppings of their choice. There's an option where you can do half the batch one way and half the batch another way, which is how we like to order. We've tried some of their special toppings (i.e. s'mores), but our tried and true combo is half vanilla and half chocolate with all the rainbow sprinkles. I did not try the donuts, unfortunately ( I wish I had!) but this is for the smoothie and the options. I had a strawberry banana smoothie. I had some food limitations, so I asked what was in it. The woman working there was knowledgeable about it and showed me the mix they use and showed me the ingredients on the container so I could check them quickly. I was hesitant with a mix thinking it may not be very good or thick, but I ordered it anyway. I'm glad I did. This was a smooth, thick, delicious smoothie. It was filling and refreshing. It hit the spot for a fruity smoothie craving and was quick to be ready after I ordered. I would have loved to have tried the donuts, but I can say if you are craving a smoothie on the mountain, this place delivers decent ones that are worth trying. Freshly made donuts are always a hit with me! I stopped in to take a break from the daily Jack's meal and was glad I did. You can order 6 or 12 and they come with powdered sugar. But you can get a sauce for $1.50 extra I think it was? I ordered with chocolate sauce and the sugar and they were tasty. They also offer tea and coffee drinks, but I didn't try any. A must visit if you are in Copper. We visited 5 times during our 1 week stay recently. The powdered sugar donuts are up there with the beignets at Cafe DuMonde in New Orleans, and the cinnamon sugar donuts are almost as good. We never tried the other toppings because those two choices were just too good that we couldn't NOT order them. ABSOLUTELY COPPER MOUNTAIN'S #1 "MUST DO" Being from New Orleans this gem is similar to dunking hot beignets in a frothy au lait at Café du Monde, except I actually prefer Sugar Lips because it's small and personal. As the customer behind us remarked on our first day this season "I may miss some days skiing but I never skip Sugar Lips." MADE TO ORDER MINI FRIED DONUTS (See pic). The canal style fryer can only handle a few dozen at a time so the line is slow-ish but well worth the wait. Try the traditional brown sugar cinnamon first (if you can resist the s'mores or maple bacon options) and eat them inside immediately while hot. I dip mine in a large latté or hot chocolate. A dozen (feeds 2-3) and two large coffees rings in at a reasonable $16. (oh wow this is my 500th review and it's a 5) Great symmetry! read more

I would eat at Sugar Lips Mini Donuts when they attended the Civic Center Eats on Tuesday all this summer. The shop owner Jasmine made a bold decision to move to Copper Mountain and just recently got approval to open up shop mid-January. Sunday morning rolls around and after 2 1/2 hours of "glorious" traffic I needed something to make me sweet again --- cue Sugar Lips. I didn't know exactly where they were located (pretty much right near the lake) in an adorable log cabin. The store is decorated in a funky french country style that somehow works very well with the exposed logs. I ordered a dozen Nutella mini donuts with powdered sugar and a coffee. My friend and I split the donuts and drank from the same coffee (yeah we are gross like that). Not only was the food spectacular but my grand total was below $7 including a tip to the proprietor.
