Excellent food and great service, turns out this is their secondary location. This location opened not too long ago, it came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. I had the chilaquiles verdes and they were perfect; some crisp, ample heat and satisfying. My sister had a poblano and cheese crepe, which I had to try and it was full of flavor. The cheese and poblano peppers with corn and onions with a subtle sweetness from the crepe was extremely tasty. If you love shakes and coffee you will also find this is a place you have to try. I just wanted to try everything on the menu but gonna have to wait for the next visit. Decor was very picture friendly, you could tell they put a lot of thought and care into it. Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu with loved ones.

Fun drinks. More milk shakes and hot chocolate than fancied up coffee. Food was solid. Prices a little high but not terrible. It felt like it was a "made for insta" joint with cutesy decor and drinks. Maybe a little style over substance but we'll be back.

    Milkshake made with ice

Unfortunately they are known for their milkshakes but for some reason my milkshake tasted water done I told him about it they brought me another one would you look like it was the exact same milkshake even with the same straw. Or still water it down. Then I found chunks of ice inside. I asked him where was the rest of my milkshake and apparently they use ice to make the milkshakes for some I've ever heard of that but my waitress tried to lie to me first but then the other two waitress is admitted they use ice. For 1199 I expect my mission to be made with ice cream milk and whatever flavor I choose never again food wasn't bad but her place known for milkshakes and then the menu made with ice cream very disappointing never again. I went to the Melrose Park location

What keeps me coming back is the quality and consistency of the food. Despite the wait that is sometimes here, I'd say the food and service is worth it. Oh Yams 5 of 5 This is my go to dish. The sweet potato, brussel sprouts, bacon, and peppers go very well with the eggs and havarti cheese. It's a dish I would have never thought I'd like, but the flavors all pop when together. Give it a shot! Biscuit and Gravy 4 of 5: The biscuit had a good flavor, but a bit dry, but the gravy is consistently good and reminds me of Southern cooking. Service 5 of 5 Ambiance 4 of 5 It can be very busy here, but it's great food so plan ahead.

After an hour we headed back and were told we had just a few more parties ahead of us. Another half hour passed and we checked in again, again being told our table would be ready soon. Another half hour passed, with our wait time now being TWO full hours, when we again checked in and they said we were next in line. After another 15 minutes, we just asked then to be honest since we were dining with 4 (now starving) kids, and they figured something out to be able to seat us (spoiler alert- they sat our party of 7 at a 4 person table). Now on to the positives... service was fantastic, food was fantastic, and the ambiance was lively and very family friendly. The different flavored mimosas were perfect, they had a great kids menu, including Mickey Mouse pancakes, and my whole group left stuffed and happy. Stray Hen would have been such an easy 5 stars had it not been for the more than double wait time with no explanation. Hopefully our next visit is better and I can update accordingly!

All the food we got was up to par as far as quality and quantity. They also had these Cinnabuns that looked absolutely delicious a few people around us got to try. Service was good and attentive. The restaurant in itself is rather large with ample seating. Becoming more of a breakfast person throughout my lifetime and this was definitely better than any ihop I've ever tried!

I don't remember it being this bad but... now I know, I guess. Food was not great. The pancakes were kind of--well, gummy is the word that springs to mind. Not pleasant to eat, at any rate. The omelet I ordered, the Southwestern Omelet I think, was ok. It was a bit thin, but maybe that's just because there were a lot of ingredients in it. The "Homemade" lemonade tasted like it was fountain lemonade. I left half of it, and the half that was consumed was mostly because my child wanted some. That was especially disappointing, because I don't order lemonade at restaurants unless it's not Minute Maid because that stuff is awful--and if Elly's truly has homemade lemonade, they should be embarrassed that it tastes identical to what Coke sells. I don't usually eat everything when I go out for breakfast and am happy to take half home for another breakfast, but I didn't want to take any of this home with me. I will say that they're fast--we were here less than an hour. I think it took fewer than 15 minutes from the time we were seated to when we got our meal, and we didn't order immediately upon being seated. We went on Saturday round 9:45 a.m. and it was half empty, though it was Easter weekend so I'm not sure if that had any impact.

More importantly, does it offer the kind of service, ambience, and experience that would make you want more? I would say 151 kitchen and bar in Elmhurst does meet those expectations. On a recent work night celebration with colleagues, we ended up here for a nice dinner. Beautifully outfitted, the service was spot on, and the food was for the most part really good. Key points for me for the honey and ricotta with bread - absolutely excellent! I ordered the Atlantic salmon, which came on a bed of tiny potatoes and broccolini absolutely what was expected, the flavors were indicative of light seasoning, and I can truly say I loved it. Needless to say, the food was fantastic. You can see the photo of my entrée below? It looks very inviting right? And indeed it was. One of my colleagues was kind enough to let me take a picture of his chicken bowl - which is below as well - and he pronounced it as pretty good. Coming from him that is high praise, indeed! The tomato bisque soup I had as an app? Pretty delicious - the only concern I would indicate was that it was just a tad too sweet, but otherwise it was served at the perfect temperature, and really hit the spot. Nicely done! So - will I bring hubby here? Yes, I think so. Definitely a worthwhile place for him to try for sure - and I will make plans to bring him here soon.

My challenge is and why I'm giving two stars is that their food is priced on a higher side with mediocre quality. They serve lamb loins, but listed as chops. I ordered lunch all the time and I've never had two mediocre loin. I asked our great waitress of how thick were the chops and where they double boned. She led me to a manager who said you get plenty of food and dodged my question. He simply should've said we don't serve chops. I spent almost $500 for six of us. I think they're a better spot to spend your money for that amount. I did reach out via phone call and email as suggested with no return calls or email. I don't plan to go back for a high priced meal plus a 3% surcharge.

They're fairly new so that comes with small hiccups. Nothing that ruins their reputation. I ordered the corn beef hash dish that comes with a side of sweet potato hash. I liked the dish quite a bit but I really wish they had given more corn beef and remove the cinnamon from the sweet potatoes. It was too much and the sweet potatoes could've been cooked longer. I enjoyed the dish and know I will return but those are things I would point out should someone choose said dish. This would all be fine if they didn't charge prices comparable to most downtown brunch spots. The menu seems very limited and offers little to no substitutions even if you have dietary restrictions. If you order a platter that typically includes sausage but don't eat meat you cannot substitute and will still be charged full price even if you don't get the meat. The espresso/latte drinks are pretty bad and demonstrate little knowledge about espresso and basic café drinks. Though they are very well priced, the low quality makes it not worth it. The servers here all seemed great. Biggest L's are food/drink quality and the food price. Biggest W is location. The ambience and decor is not really my vibe - it gives a sort of middle aged interpretation of instagram brunch joints. Prices need to be lower or the quality needs to improved substantially (i.e. food should be made to order, seasoned, and well balanced for $16+ per plate.). Will probably not come back and would recommend. Very disappointing for a local community spot . Im rooting for the team here to improve and really show how great restaurants in our community can be!!

We had children with us and asked for their menu items to come as fast as they could. However, the server was extremely short with us and didn't even bring drinks quickly. While the restaurant was not very busy, it too a very long time to get our food - especially one in our group who didn't get food until almost everyone else was done. The food itself was ok, but I would say that nothing was exceptional - somewhat bland entrees and lacking originality. Could be what we ordered...as I know many people find the food here to be quite good. The prices are reasonable for the area but I was disappointed with the general unfriendly service and time to receive food. I've been here previously and we had a somewhat lackluster meal that time also. The previous time, they were pleasant enough but food was only ok - entrees were not very hot when we received them. All in all, there are friendlier spots in the area.
