Stopped in here to get coffee and breakfast before going out on the boat all day. I had planned on getting a breakfast sandwich and one of their specialty coffee drinks, but the line was so long and it would've taken so much longer to wait for those things that by the time I got to the front after waiting 25 minutes or so I just ordered things that I could take and run out the door with. The drip coffee was OK, not the best coffee I've ever had but the pastries were really good. We tried a veggie frittata, a maple bar, an iced lemon cookie, an iced oatmeal raisin cookie, and their yogurt parfait with fresh fruit. The doughnut was ridiculously good. The cookies were fantastic. The yogurt parfait was delicious with fresh homemade granola and peak of the season peaches and berries. My buddy said the frittata was excellent as well. So just a couple notes: there's only one person taking orders so the line moves very, very slow. If you are waiting in line, plan your order ahead of time so that when you get up to the front, you're not one of the idiot tourists standing there being a jackass, making it longer for everybody else because they didn't pay attention to the menu board or the pastry case before they got up to the front. That was the most irritating thing about this experience. One group had to bring their whole six kids in (even though they didn't let them order anything) they were just in the way and the people right after them did not plan and took forever to order. So be cognizant of other people around you and pay attention. It will make the entire line move faster. I was blown away by it and it wasn't something I would have picked for myself so a big thank you to her! We stopped by with a group of five on our way to the Truckee River. We got there a little after 11, so we just missed breakfast, which was a bummer because that's what I was really looking forward to. They did still have quiche available, though, and it ended up being a pleasant surprise. I had the ham and spinach quiche, and it was really good. We also ordered a BLAT, what I believe was a Caprese-style sandwich with pesto, and a couple of iced hazelnut oat milk coffees. The coffee was excellent. I don't like overly sweet coffee drinks, and these were perfectly balanced. The cafe is a little off the main road, so you have to make a quick detour, but it's worth it. Service was quick, and we had plenty of time to grab our food and still make our reservation at the river. I didn't get any pictures because we were rushing to get back on the road, but everything looked fresh and tasted great. Next time I'm in Tahoe, I'll definitely make it a point to get there earlier so I can finally try their breakfast. read more

We were visiting a friend's family home just down the road from this quaint bakery. She had told us they open at 7am, and we took the initiative to walk there at that early hour to have our pick. What I did not appreciate was the service. The guy at the counter who took our orders was rude. Not sure what could be the reason. Also our empty cups that we had ordered matcha latte in fell on the floor and was kicked around before it was placed back on top of the counter again by the guy where he proceeded to fill it with ice. I had to explicitly request him to replace the cups since they had fallen and were kicked on the floor with shoes. This felt like an act of negligence on the cleanliness front. Tahoe bakeries are a true treasure! We tried the cinnamon roll, and one of each of the chocolate chip, butterscotch pretzel and oatbomb cookies. Everything was fresh and delicious. Super happy my wife and I stumbled upon this place! They have one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had and their Cakery Club is the best club sando I've ever had! They use toasted Truckee sourdough because duh it's the best, and the perfect amount of turkey, the bacon super crispy and that chipotle aioli adds the perfect amount of flavor to take it up a notch. This place is a good value for the Tahoe area but I'd never spend another hard earned dollar here ever again if it were up to me alone and not influenced by my family that loves being able to walk here. Service is clueless. I feel for the owner, always seems like a bunch of nonchalant, indifferent kids who are there to punch the clock and dip. I certainly wouldn't tolerate that from employees. Stood at the counter for a few minutes this morning before being acknowledged only to have another staff member come out from the back to BS with the party behind us so loud and cacophonously I couldn't hear myself think much less hear what the other employee was trying to say to me. Nice to have this business on the Northshore, hidden spot but not hard to find. pastries we ordered: maple bar and Croissant were very good, decent hot chocolate too. i have to point out the cashier was careless about food handling and put the bag with my croissant right next to her Tip jar , literally bag opening touching the disgusting container with cash, i don't have an extreme fear of germs but by cleaning standards that is a NO , ewww , was not very nice to me either, I did notice she was nicer to other parties. Hope my next experience is a better one, I know how hard is to find help around and I hope to visit again. read more

My little was requesting some morning treats, so we happily obliged and looked for a close stop on our drive out of Tahoe. Sugar in the morning is always a good decision on vacation. ;) Lovely little bakery stop near Dollar Point , North Tahoe. We enjoyed the lattes and the staff was very friendly to us. Had my first PSL and was just the perfect hint of pumpkin which is important, and not overly sugary. Chocolate croissant was delicious my hubby said. The strawberry donut was thoroughly enjoyed by my daughter! I tried it also and it was dense, moist and everything you would want from a homemade donut. ;) I loved my pecan sticky bun and my son savored his sugary morning bun in silence. ;) Will be sure to hit on our next trip to Tahoe! read more

They had already been waiting for 20 or so minutes and it took another 15-20 prior to ordering. I ordered an Iced Hazelnut Latte with oat milk and a Butter Croissant. The Iced Latte hit the spot and the croissant was a tad bit dry. All in all, it was a good cup of coffee which got me caffeinated for the rest of the day. My only tip? The BF and I enjoy visiting this bakery when we are in Tahoe City. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No indoor seating but there are some Alpine chairs outside on the blacktop, which are great on a sunny day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love their "breakfast bowl", which is actually served in a paperboard box. Sliced potatoes, eggs, cheese, salsa and avocado. So tasty and filling!! The BF usually gets the breakfast burrito, which is much of the same ingredients but in a tortilla wrap. I have been coming to Tahoe for decades, and this is by far my favorite café! This past weekend we stumbled across Sugar Pine Cafe and decided to give it a try it without doing any research. As we waited in line to order, I noticed the prices were quite reasonable, then once we got our food and beverages, just crazy delicious! The breakfast burrito was like none other I had ever had, hard to put into words how good it was! Even my kids who can be picky eaters loved it! Our coffee drinks were delicious, love, the non-plastic straws, and we got some treats for the way home. We loved our big soft cookies, and my kiddos love, their cupcakes, even cheaper than the ones at the small cakes by our house, and they liked much better! We went to several other café's on our trip, Tahoe House on the West Shore (total disappointment) and Tree House Cafe in Kings Beach and Sugar Pine was by far our favorite, not even close. read more
