    German Chocolate Cake
    Susan R.

I am a repeat customer of Sugar Science and I won't go anywhere else to get my desserts! My favorite desserts so far are the German Chocolate Cake which was epic, Ono Carrot Cake and the New York Cheesecake! Sharon goes to great lengths to make every dessert special. Her dessert tables are profoundly delicious with a wide variety of tasty treats.

Low sugar cherry pie - delicious!!!

With a diabetic in our household, we called Sharon, the owner of Sugar Science, to request a no-sugar-added, custom-made cherry pie--and wow, it was absolutely incredible! We honestly don't know how she worked her sugar-science magic, but we didn't miss the sugar one bit. This is exactly why Sugar Science specializes in special orders, and we are so grateful for that care and flexibility. The dark Bing cherries were plump, juicy, and bursting with natural flavor, and the crust was perfectly made--delicious without being overly sweet. Best of all, there was none of that thick, gooey, overly sugary filling you find in most pies that just adds unnecessary sugar and calories. It was a thoughtful, truly satisfying dessert that everyone could enjoy. Highly, highly recommended!

It is officially party season and if you are looking to host an amazing event and you are located in the Big Sur / Monterey area then this company is who you should call. Bricolage Catering is owned and operated by three wonderful people, Austen Falls (Culinary Director), Deb Falls (Director of Hospitality) and Cat Mulligan (Creative Director). And the resume on these guys...very impressive from Austen's background in Michelin Star restaurants, Deb's extensive knowledge of the finest events in Napa Valley, to Cat's eye and execution of the spectacular and whimsical events in Big Sur, their attention to detail, ingredients and combined experiences are the crème de la crème that creates a successful event. But back to the series, I attended the second out of three parts and let's enter into the fire. This took place at the Maligne restaurant and not an empty seat was in sight. And may I also add, the conversations at each table between strangers is what I dream to have at every restaurant or event I attend. How they seated people together was one beautifully orchestrated orchestra. Because you know how it goes, if there is no conversation at the table, what a disappointment it would be. They were genuine, honest and in my case, was the start of new friendships. The food...what can I even say? Even their variation of the summer favorite s'mores boasted flavor that mimicked a camp outing - the celestial beauty reflecting the idea that the stars might be long gone but the memories we have are here and now. A reminder that all we really have is today and the importance that sharing a meal with someone can create. So if you are looking to host an event, maybe you need some creative direction, whatever it is, if you are in the Big Sur, Carmel or Monterey area, give this team a call. I guarantee you will not regret it.

Italian cowboys bbq catering did not disappoint. We had them cater for our wedding rehearsal dinner. And boy did all my guests rave about their food and after weeks of the event they still talk about it. I even had 5 Kansas City BBQ judges at the event and they absolutely loved it. One of the judges could not make it to the rehearsal because of work so his fiancé brought him some to try.. and they said it was still spot after a couple of hours. We ordered the Tri tip, chicken ,Mac cheese, garlic bread and green salad. Now let's talk about the the salad. I am not a rabbit but their greenery and dressing was local and tossed with the freshest ingredients. The Mac and cheese was a staple with all the 20 kids running around that they wanted more the next day. It was cheesy, stringy and the noodles were not al dente, it was definitely kid and adult approved. The chicken breasts were smoked and it was so juicy. I worry sometimes that smoking it too long can dry it a bit, but not this time. Now the Tri tip! It had a beautiful smoke ring, any bbq lover would appreciate seeing that ring since we eat with our eyes first. He catered to the majority not having too much rare or well done Tri tips which was a plus since there was no left overs fir me to take home . I'm selfish when it comes to food I love. The Tri tip was juicy, and tender definitely tasted the Smokey flavor. He had two sauces. One of the sauces it took him a few years to perfect which was sweet and with a hint of spiciness. The sauce complimented the Tri tip very well, did not take away the taste of the meat which we never want. But the meat itself was killer, you actually did not the sauce but some prefer dipping their meats into them so if you were pick their specialty sauce. Everything that was suppose to be served hot was hot. Been to weddings, catered events where the meat is cold. Their prices are affordable, they work with your budget and what you want. Besides the delicious food, their customer service, John Cardinalli and company were spot on. Writing this review makes me crave for their meat. So if you are planning to have a bbq Catering don't hesitate, try them, you won't be disappointed.

They went above and beyond anything we could have imagined for our wedding and helped us create the perfect day. We decided to use Jamie as our coordinator and caterer, and boy, was she worth every penny and then some. Jamie helped us every step of the way and recommended awesome vendors for florals, bartending, transportation, photography, music, and rentals. We used everyone she suggested, and every single vendor was incredible. Our venue fell through two weeks before our wedding, and throughout the chaos, Jamie was there to help us find a new venue, keep us so calm, and create the most amazing wedding day despite only having two weeks to re-plan everything. We never would have been able to pull it off without the help of Jamie and Sea Stars! Chef Paul's food was spectacular, and our guests are still raving about it!! Every dish was delicious, from the lamb pops and crab cakes to the fried artichokes and the black cod, squash, and steak main courses. Everything was so so good, and my husband and I wish Chef Paul had a restaurant so we could go eat his food again and again. We could not have asked for a better wedding day. We were able to be stress-free and present with our family and friends, which is mainly due to all the help from Jamie, Chef Paul, and the staff from Sea Stars. We cannot recommend Sea Stars enough, and if we ever need a caterer or help with an event in the area again, we know exactly who we are going to call :)

Her pastries were amazing and some of the best things I've ever eaten. And I definitely saw a guest with 3 lavender creme brulees. They were that good! For our reception Chef Elizabeth Murray led the charge on our dinner buffet. And she knocked it out of the park. Mo and I really wanted quality food but this exceeded both our expectations. She also accommodated our requests very fluidly while still keeping the culinary integrity of the menu. Back to Jamie though who goes above and beyond all expectations and you can see how much love, pride, and joy she has for what she does. The best example of this I think would be that our mis-matched plates that we rented from her each have a special memory for Jamie and she still remembers where she got each of them. This says so much about the type of person Jamie is and how much attention to detail she has. Jamie really did so much for us throughout our whole wedding process and we are so grateful. Mo and I really wish Jamie and all the Sea Stars staff the best and we would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
