Such a good little place ! We had a light and easy lunch- I got the grilled cheese with turkey and it was so good (avocado, lettuce, turkey, cheese, tomato). And I got a vanilla iced latte and it was pretty tasty! Overall great little place.

This review is based on the special occasion cake we ordered for pick up. We ordered the Marquise cake via phone. The employee was helpful answering all my questions. The website's descriptions are kind of vague and they don't necessarily have photos or cross section photos of every cake available. Everyone loved the Marquise which is described as "chocolate cake & chocolate truffle cream" on their website. To me it was mainly chocolate mousse with a thin layer of chocolate sponge cake. They also kindly wrote the inscription in chocolate on a nice piece of white chocolate. The chocolate flowers on top were cute. The kids immediately asked to have the chocolate flowers after the candles were blown out. I had a hard time deciding between the Sacher Torte and the Marquise. I hope to try the torte the next time I'm in the area. Sorry the photo I have is blurry :( I didn't remember to take a picture before we put candles on it and brought it out to the group.

Great food, ok service, beautiful restaurant! Parking is abundant, my only complaint is that parking spaces are cozy and close. If you value spaced parking you can find some distance but the majority of spaces are close. Servers are friendly but it feels forced and unnatural. As someone who's a first timer to this space I didn't feel welcomed and was confused with their ordering style between what you can order to go and what you can order dining in. I waited about 4 minutes with servers moving back and forth without acknowledging me and when they did I eventually waited a few more minutes to finally get served. After putting my order in it took over 20 minutes for me to receive my food so my only complaint really is that there's a lack of acknowledgment, no clear instructions on being seated, and conversing with servers does not feel genuine. Also if you come with a party of 6 or more you automatically charged 18% of gratuity and you cannot split checks. As for food I ordered lemon drops, a latte, a grilled chicken sandwich, and a raspberry croissant and the food is amazing. The restaurant design is gorgeous, with so many lively greens and warm cabin feel. I imagine in the fall this is the place to be. With so many greens you can see little critters that surround them like ants and spiders so don't get too close and don't be surprised if you have a visitor. The restrooms are outside behind the building so if you need it you'll have to exit the restaurant. I would definitely come again, there could be a chance they might be lightly staffed and I caught them on an off day. I will visit again in the future and update My review when I do!

I stopped by on a whim to grab some snacks for the 17 mile drive and I am VERY glad I did. This place is absolutely delicious AND the staff is awesome. The bakery is located in a small plaza with plenty of parking. I stopped by around noon and it was pretty empty (signs of a good bakery) but was able to pick up some gems which I absolutely loved! Fruit tart, cream cheese croissant, meat bread. CREAM CHEESE CROISSANT. HOW IS THIS NOT A THING EVERYWHERE?? It's literally a croissant stuffed with sweet cream cheese and it definitely was a favorite of the bunch. Fruit tart was amazing. Meatbread was flavorful but not sure if I would get it again, it's huge and juicy with a nice, glazed crust. Wasn't bad but just not a favorite. I am definitely going to visi here next time I'm in town. Can't wait to try items that were sold out. Highly recommend!

The people who work here were super friendly and patient. They gave us great service. They have plenty of parking in their lot. They were fairly deserted on a Thurs around 8:00/8:15, but got pretty busy shortly thereafter. We had their mocha, pecan snail, and their quiche Loraine. Their quiche is the second best one we have ever had and was the best one since the 1990s. Most quiches are dense and processed and/or have dried out crust and do not put in many ingredients such as ham, etc. Not so here. Their quiche was fluffy, had a good amount of ham, and a moist crust. The only issue was that the quiche/egg filling was a little too thin. If it was a little thicker with the same fluffiness it would have been even more awesome, but it was pretty great as is. The pecan snail (cinnamon roll with pecans) was sweet, but not overly so. The mocha was nothing special, but it was ok. There is ample seating on the covered patio, but the more limited seating near the counter was much warmer on a cold rainy Dec morning. It was fairly quiet until a lot of people came in around 8:15/8:30. They do not seem to have plugs like Starbucks, but if they will let you sit here to study, the atmosphere is great for that here. The bathroom is outside at the back of the building. Tips: (1) when ordering quiche ask for a "slice" of the big quiche, do NOT get the mini quiches, (2) if cold, then sit at tables near the register, NOT the enclosed patio, and (3) toilet is outside at the back of the building. Overall, this is an awesome place for breakfast and we will definitely be back next time we are in the area. We recommend you give these guys a try.

Whenever we come to Monterey we have to come to patisserie Bechler. Today I was so happy because we got there early and we had more options. The service was amazing because the man who helped me was patient and filled two boxes. This spot is cozy. They have food to eat there but never have. Pastries never disappoint. My husband regrets not getting more raspberry croissants. Try it next time your in town

Patisserie is such a sweet little spot for a pastry or a light lunch. The food is pretty basic, but well made. The crusts on the quiches and the croissants are flakey and buttery, with a perfect texture. The service is quick and they bring your food to your table. But the star of this restaurant is really the dining room, it feels like you are in a greenhouse, and I could have sat and people watched for hours. 10/10

We stopped here twice on Saturday, before and after our beach trip. The first visit was for ourselves and the second time so we could bring treats home for our families. We shared an Apricot Cinnamon Muffin in the morning - my favorite sweet of the day. Delicious swirls of cinnamon and a great balance of flavors. On our ride home, my cousin shared her Hazelnut Triangle. I was surprised by a little bit of apricot inside. Loved the chocolate-covered corners. Sunday morning, I tried the Kouign Amann, a love child from beautiful butter croissant and sticky bun. It's very rich - so a few bites were enough and perfect with my coffee. I removed one star because the service could have been nicer. The same server who helped us both times seemed annoyed when we asked questions about a few items. I understand that not everyone is jolly but wish he'd try a little courtesy. It's a bakery, not the DMV!

Beautiful and delicious cake from Patisserie Bechler.

Don't come here for the coffee or lattes not good at all. Way too much added sugar or setup. We took one sip and tossed it.

I felt bad about sending them back and was apologetic when we brought it to the owner's attention. He was responsive, explained that it was the natural smell of the sea, and kindly showed us the invoice proving they were purchased that day. He also offered to check with the vendor. While we appreciated his efforts, the smell was off-putting enough that we decided to order something else. We tried the lamb lollipop special instead. For $42, the portion was quite small--just five thin, uneven pieces--and the lamb was overcooked and overly salty. When we gently mentioned this to our server, she responded with an eye roll, which was disappointing. We genuinely dislike leaving negative feedback, especially for small independent restaurants, but the overall experience left us quite disappointed. Hoping they can improve these items, as the restaurant has potential.

Upon entry, we were heartily greeted by the owner and staff. There were only a couple tables left on the main floor as there was a large party of fifteen people seated in most of the main dining area. It was extremely loud with voices reverberating because of the gregarious group. The owner invited us upstairs to see if a high-bar table would be suitable. The table was quite small even though it overlooked the entire first level, so we declined as another table by the front windows had become available. The Charcuterie + Cheese board was a wonderful start to the evening. It consisted of prosciutto di parma, sopressata, duck prosciutto, bella vitano, triple cream brie, chèvre, almonds, and fig jam served with sliced grilled sourdough. Delish. We enjoyed their Sauteed Rock Cod entrée which consisted of pan-fried cod served with potato puree, artichokes + capers in a Meyer lemon brown butter sauce. The portion was of moderate size, and the dish was excellently prepared and plated. In addition, we had the Drunken Skillet Seared Octopus, which was a nice portion of octopus in a preserved black-bean honey sauce, along with Chef Jerry's seasoning. I recommend this starter as an appetizer or as a main entrée for a light appetite. All was quite delicious. This is an intimate venue for wonderfully prepared meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a little lacking which could account for the bad acoustic issue. The service is outstanding as the staff was attentive and watchful without interrupting the customer's dining experience. A serious negative would be that the restrooms are not located on the main dining level, and could pose a problem for patrons who need assistance. Food 4.9 Atmosphere 3.7 Service 4.9
