The sushi at Sugarfish by Sushi Nozawa is fresh and so delicious. The restaurant is known for their Trust Mes, which are basically omakases. They have four different ones. We went with the Nozawa Trust Me ($45), which included edamame, tuna sashimi, albacore sushi, salmon sushi, crab handroll, Hirame sushi, New Zealand Sea Bream sushi, Toronto handroll, a daily special, and Japanese yellowtail. The sushi pieces were two each. Everything was delicious! I'm glad I got to try different types of sushi because I usually stick with salmon. The restaurant is popular so it's best to put yourself on the waiting list ahead of time. The fish was all great quality my favorite was the blue crab hand roll. The price was fair and they have a decent selection of sake. It is kind of dark in the restaurant but it has a good design. We have been long time Sugarfish fans but only liked the one in Downtown LA (have tried other locations and they are just not always up to par). We went on a Saturday for their 11:30AM start time. Warning: this place is SUPER busy and there was already a line at the door before they opened. We ordered two Trust Me's (the usual) and split a nigori sake. Loved it! Came here at 5pm on a Saturday evening with a 15 min wait for 2 people. The ambiance in the restaurant definitely makes you feel like you're in a high end sushi spot in Tokyo. I got the Trust Me with a various assortment of hand rolls and nigiris. They bring you the sushi in courses and the presentation of each plate was immaculate. The staff were attentive and friendly. I honestly was so caught up in conversation with my friend that I barely paid attention to what fish I was eating exactly (hence the lack of photos in this review lol) but everything was sooooo fresh and such good quality fish. Had dinner here this evening. Shockingly, we were seated within 5 minutes (we arrived at 6:30!). First, it felt odd that they add 16% service charge to the bill but the servers do not get gratuity. I hope they pay them well. ALL of them were really nice! I tried the Nozawa - Trust Me menu. It's a lot of food. Omg. My son ordered extra a la carte items and I had to ask to please cancel a couple of items. Overall, it was good. My favorites were the toro, salmon, unagi and pink lobster. I was disappointed with the yellowtail and halibut. Crab hand roll was okay. It was nice that the sushi rice was warm, but it's not made quite right as it falls apart before it reaches your mouth. The scallop hand roll had a weird taste to it so I did not eat it. I appreciated that they took it off the bill (we didn't ask), but found it odd the server said he was sorry I wasn't a fan. Hmm. It had nothing to do with being a fan or not; it didn't taste fresh. Tried it, but don't see returning. My favorite place in Carson is still the best. Rats! I like the ambiance of this SUGARFISH more so than many of the others- it is darker and gives off more of a sophisticated vibe. I came here nearly 5 times in August, and each time I noticed many of the same things: 1. The service here isn't the best, but it is generally good 2. The quality of the sushi is amazing and on-par with other SUGARFISH locations 3. They appear to be out of stock more often than the Marina Del Rey location. Regardless of my tiny criticisms, the quality, taste, and simplicity of the SUGARFISH menu deserves 5 stars in and of itself. I loved Sugarfish in New York and when I moved to CA, so excited to see their level of service and quality doesn't change. I came here for lunch and initially ordered my bento to-go. However, after learning it'd take 45 minutes for it to finish, I decided to dine in. The host was incredibly kind and went out of his way to accommodate me. I was eating by myself and not sure how seating worked, but i didn't end up having an actual server, just a bunch of different servers and food runners. However, the host continually came to check up on me to make sure everything was doing okay. I wish I remembered his name, but he definitely made this experience amazing for me. I got the Trust Me, and it was delicious as always. The quality of the fish is spectacular and the little details they add to the sushi always makes it that much more incredible. First time to order from the MB location but have been to other branches (including the one in NYC), happy to say MB has one of the best customer service, followed closely by MDR. While the other branches can tend to have a frantic vibe, MB even when it was packed had such a warm and friendly vibe to it. Placed a to-go order ahead of time and my order was ready perfectly on-time and sushi was fresh and so so good. One other thing i can applaud Sugar Fish for is their consistency! I'm so happy Sugarfish is in the South Bay now. It's located off the main road but still right in the heart of Manhattan Beach. During COVID, they've set up a nice outdoor area that doesn't get as crowded as the restaurants on Manhattan Beach Blvd so I think it's a nice dining experience without as much foot traffic. There's no doubt Sugarfish can get pricey but the quality of the fish is topnotch. Dining here is definitely an experience focused on quality and presentation. My go-to is the Nozawa Trust Me and you can never go wrong with it. My favorite is the toro (fatty tuna) and it literally just melts in your mouth!! The fish is super fresh and always prepared so nicely and delectable to eat. Salmon and toro are so good here and the lobster and scallop rolls never disappoint with the warm seaweed. I love Sugarfish but I don't really like this location because of the parking. There was no parking on a weekend so I ended up getting dropped off and picking up our order. We got the Nowaza Trust Me set which included tuna, albacore, and salmon sashimi. There was also a toro handroll and crab handroll. I liked all the fish because they were super fresh and soft and tender. Each set feeds around 1-2 people. I definitely think each set is very light and satisfying. I also liked how each box came with sauces and it tells you which fish pairs well with which sauce and ginger and wasabi. read more

Yes, the menu is limited. Yes, it's expensive. However, this is arguably the most beautiful take-out packaging, fish quality, and overall five star take-out experience one could ask for! It was so good, that we ordered again a couple of nights later!
