This was l legitimately the worst sugaring experience I've ever received. The person who I got the serve from had a horrible training... I felt like I was treated like a sack of potatoes the entire time. She pushed on my skin so hard that it hurt even before the sugar was pulled off (when do you have that happen!). And then she pulled it so hard that my entire body would move together with her hand. Sometimes, strings of sugar went flying around the room and my body.. I feel like I have a real burn in one spot on my skin. She also didn't look carefully at what area I asked her not to touch. So she ended up removing hair from where I am getting an expensive lazer treatment at the moment, which makes it pointless if the hair is removed from it. The triangle she left on my pubis has an absolutely horrible assymetric shape, and it's half the size of what I asked for. When I tried to speak up, she was "Don't worry, I heard what you want". She had tons of sugar getting left over on my skin which is not an issues I've ever had with other masters. She went through a ton of gloves and had to get new sugar very frequently, which speaks of her lack of professionalism. Not to mention how I am walking home right now with my but cheeks getting glued to me skirt. And the terrible set up of the room when you're laying naked right in front of the entrance. I am getting sick at the moment, and I felt absolutely destroyed after the appointment, so I had no energy to argue with anyone... That's why I didn't speak up. I was very excited about trying Sugaring Boston, but unfortunately, the customer service really tarnished my experience. First, I signed up on the Sugaring Boston website for a slot at 2 pm. Due to unforeseen traffic complications, I ended up being 10 minutes late. Recognizing that wax places don't hold appoints long, I called around 1:58 pm. This is where things start to go wrong. First, they send text updates and emails, but you can't contact those ways. All signs say to call with questions but leave no number. So I call the main company (sugaring nyc) hotline, Then after calling the company number listed online and going through the switchboard to the Boston location, no one picked up. I left a message about my situation and hoped for the best. When I arrive, they immediately say that I am 20 minutes late for my appointment. I show them my email confirmation and they essentially say "Oh, that's not what we have on our end. We have you scheduled for 1:50 pm." Like what, that's not my issue, that's yours. They then proceed to tell me not to make appointments through the website but to call or they can't guarantee the time. WHAT?! Then why have a website and how would I possibly know that... I mention I left a voicemail prior to my appointment and they admit to never getting a call. They then also say not to go through the MAIN COMPANY PHONE LINE. WHAT?! I'm in shock now. Then, they say because I wasn't in the 5-minute window for my app, I have to pay half price for missing it. Wow ok. Now, I full-heartedly admit to being late to my app, but minutes before she mentioned the 5-minute rule, she said that if you call prior to your app they can extend that period. I DID CALL. WTF. Do not come to this business. It is a business run by people with no organizational skills or industry experience. Make a website with YOUR phone line if the company is so franchise-specific. A waste of $30. I will never return or recommend. I wish you all the best if you choose to brave this sh*t show. I am $30 down and still hairy. read more

Since my first appointment, I've been back maybe 2 or 3 times. For context: Before moving to Boston, I was sugared by the same woman for ~4 years and I go back whenever I'm home. Coming to Sugaring Boston, I have not had near the same experience. During one of my appointments, half of my hair was tweezed and I was nicked. During my most recent appointment, the girl left the sugar on me to "adhere to my hair" for almost 5 minutes, before ripping it, and a layer of my skin, off. My skin peeled for weeks. They clearly don't train their staff well as when I got my sugaring treatment done the sugar was extremely hard and the girl didn't know how to work with it AT ALL. It hurt to even have the sugar put on the hair and my skin was red and inflamed. Recently I tried sweet nothing spa instead and the experience was smooth and pretty painless. Go there. While the sugarista was very professional, there has to be some unsanitary practices occurring at this location or with the product. I have been sugaring for 10 years, and this has never happened to me before in my life. Doctor said he has only seen this type of skin infection occur after someone has had "a bad wax." I've gotten regular waxes before and it was painful every time. I love coming here!! First off, the Boston location is so cute. They have candy and water in the waiting room and you are welcomed in with a friendly smile. I don't get my Brazilian and underarm waxes anywhere else. I've been a faithful customer to this company for almost a year now and I love the results. Since coming here, I've only gotten sugared and have not shaved. My hair has gotten significantly thinner and thus over time has been easier to remove and the pain is now a 1/10 for me. Rupa is amazing!! She is gentle, very nice, and has the best answers to my questions! Whatever hair she can't manage to get with the sugar, she grabs the tweezers and leaves me soft and as close to hairless as she can get. She knows what she's doing and she definitely does it best. There was one time when I couldn't book with Rupa and so I had to book with Yun and that was my only bad experience!! She did not properly clean me before AND afterwards. I've been getting sugared long enough to be familiar with the procedures and she did not follow them! It was more painful than it should've been. She went over my underarms twice, did NOT even offer to tweeze any remaining hairs and there were a LOT of remaining hairs. For the amount of money I'm paying, I would like to see all that hair gone. I went back to Rupa and I was so much happier with my results. Rupa shows me why I continue to go there and I prefer only her services when I'm getting sugared! read more

I came across Sugaring Boston probably 2 years ago when I was new to the city and in desperate need of a back wax before a vacation. It was a Monday so most salons were closed. I had relied on wax for many years but was forced to try sugaring since they were the only one open. The results were fantastic and have been every couple months since. I had my first "sugaring" experience today and boy was I impressed! Salon was very cleaning and welcoming and I was welcomed by name. First let me preference this by saying that I have been getting waxed for almost 10 years and the last 5 have been with the same waxer and I have high expectations! Briyana explained the process and what to expect and how Sugaring was different to waxing, and while I didn't expect to notice a difference I did. After being waxed, I don't have any of the waxy residue left over, my skin feels soft and subtle and ready to be shown off, and that having 4 services done and completed within an hour. I'll start this review by saying that I have been waxing for over 20 years, I am no stranger to waxing, or hair removal in general, but my experience at Sugaring Boston left a lot to be desired. I was excited to try sugaring because I had heard good things about the short and long benefits and am always looking for better ways to manage my body hair. I decided to try sugaring on some of the less sensitive areas that I wax and made an appointment for my underarms and chin. The place is very easy to find and was clean. I arrived early for my appointment and had to wait about 10 min after my appointment time to be seen while the staff completed and checked out other customers before me which was fine, I wasn't in a rush and the delay was communicated and apologized for. I went in with Yun to start my service. There was a little bit of chit chat and she started to do my chin. I immediately noticed that sugaring was much rougher than waxing, Yun mashed the wax into my chin/ neck swiftly pulling it off. Not what I'm used to but not horrible. My first issue came when after I was done. I could feel my face swelling and I asked for some aloe or something to combat it. I was told I had to wait till everything is done to be cleaned up and aloe or whatever applied.I explained again that I can feel my face swelling up needed to be cleaned up now and something applied. Yun then filled her hand with what I saw after was baby oil, and applied it to face and asked if that was ok now and could I wait to be cleaned up? No its not ok, but its already done so let's move on. I then moved to get my underarms done and realized that I was stuck to the table. STUCK TO THE TABLE BY MY HAIR!! Somehow the paste got in my hair and I was stuck by my hair to the table. Now I am livid and expressed to Yun that I am stuck. Her response " oh I'll deal with that later you do underarms " at this point I can't go anywhere anyway so she begins my underarms and I ask how she's gonna get it out my hair. She tells me it will be easy and then proceeds to give me to most painful underarm wax of my life. I am literally seeing stars and she keeps talking about exfoliating. I guess that I need to more but I have no idea because with the pain I can't focus. Before I can say no the other arm she is there with the glob and starts on that side and I am in pain again. Let me say that I have been waxing for years and have never had this bad of an experience. Yun did not hold the area taunt or attempt to be gentle. After she was done she cleaned my underarms up and then got the stuff out of my hair ( thankfully gently). I had to ask for my face to be cleaned off as she initially told me it looked good but I insisted cause A. I already knew I had wax still on my face and B. I could feel all of the baby oil sliding down my neck. At this point, I knew I would never come back, I asked for additional baby wipes to clean my own self up and got dressed. I was on the verge of tears and ready to get out of dodge. I paid and left mortified and in pain! Upon reaching home I looked to see the results and saw that my underarms where heavily bruised and swollen. I could not move my arms properly for the rest of the night and next day due to the bruising and swelling. Luckily my face was not bruised but did develop a rash from the palm full of baby oil that was applied. My skin is smooth but the price to get there was not worth it. I came here for a Brazilian and underarm wax. The spa is very beautiful and clean. The technician used double gloves and did not double dip into the jar. Because of those 2 reasons I rate this spa 2 stars. The Brazilian came out patchy. I can feel areas where patches of hairs are lingering. Won't be returning. read more

The girl who works here is pretty nice which helped my situation but..... boy was this painful. I had scheduled to do an underarm "sugaring" and leg also I barely made it through the underarm part. I have been getting my underarms waxed for about 3 years or so and I tolerate that but this expierce is different. The way they apply the "suagring" is just so uncomfortable they have to kinda of tug on the hair and skin over and over and then pull it back I was in actual pain but maybe it's just me and maybe that's just a sentive area to have this procedure done. I really tried to like this place I really did but unfortunately over time things got worse and worse. When I first started going here I recall a clean environment, kind staff, and painless wax with good post response to my skin. A huge drastic change from other waxing places. I thought this was going to be a life saver. Over time however, I started noticing a ton of staffing change. It got to the point where almost every 2-3 times I went there was a completely new team. This was one warning sign. The second warning sign was the lack of training new employees had. I was one girls first brazillian and oh boy did that hurt. if you ask them to not wax over an area multiple times or ask to please not tweeze they don't listen which is extremely frustrating. The cleanliness of the place got worse and worse over time too. Twice on my waxes (I do exfoliate and constantly put witch hazel etc) I had skin issues. Once I had an infected pimple site that took forever to heal and another time I had a rash near my butt area. I largely suspect it was due to poor cleanliness and because they wax over an area more than once even if u tell them to please not do that. Booking online is easy however you never know who you are actually booking time with. In most cases i'm pretty sure they still have employees names on there that have already left. You can't call in either which is frustrating. You call and it goes to some generic voicemail for all sugaring NYC/Boston locations which is super confusing. Overall I have no idea what happened to this place and what caused it to go downhill. It's sad bc sugar wax is so much better than regular wax for people who have sensitive skin and it's hard to find places that do sugar wax. At the end of the day however it's not worth sticking at a place just bc they do sugar. I'm on the hunt to find a new place or learn how to sugar myself at this point because so many waxing places in boston suck! read more

I would not recommend this place y see any circumstances. I got a a bikini full and the specialist laughed at me, missed several areas, and went over places that were not supposed to be done. She then also tried to charge me the wrong price multiple times until I showed her on the website she was wrong and when she realized she clicked the wrong button-she just laughed at me. In terms of the treatment while there, as I dressed and after I left and waited for my uber she began speaking about me poorly to the other person working there. I then came back in and asked her for her name and again, waited outside the door for my Uber. She told the person working with her that she would punch me in the Face ID I asked for a refund and was quite frustrated. Then she called her manager saying that someone asked for her name so expect a complaint--the followed that warning with a fabricated story about how I apparently "stopped her from doing her job correctly" when I have done this before and said nothing about what she was doing or to stop her from doing it. I came back inside to try to make her aware that I was still there and that what she was saying was not true. She eventually offered me my refund.
