Updating my review due to a really strange experience? I showed up 10 mins early to my 6:05 wax to find the door locked, no receptionist - called several times, no answer, etc. I finally see an aesthetician leave one of the rooms and come into the hallway, so I knock on the window and she walks very slowly towards the door, opens it, and walks to the desk, asks for my name, doesn't even look at me. Just ridiculously annoyed by my very existence. I'm like, I was waiting outside for like 10 minutes and no one answered the phone.... she gestures to her desk and says, with attitude, "As you can see, there is no receptionist here to take your call." I repeated that I had been standing outside super confused. She's like, "How is someone supposed to open the door for you when they're in with a client?" I was just so stunned by how rude she was, and I told her so, "There's no reason to be nasty about it." She insisted she wasn't being nasty and began arguing with me. I'm like, the least you can say is sorry for the door being locked? It was very strange. I found out the girl's name is Diamond. I've had this draft in my reviews for months (this happened I think in August) but I didn't want to post it because I do like coming here and I found an aesthetician I absolutely LOVE (Tanequa!!!) and just make it clear that I will not be seeing Diamond. But I came to post here about how I scheduled a wax last week for today, and I received a call from the establishment THIS MORNING that there was a shift in the schedule and my 6 pm wax with Tanequa was no longer available. I was told that a different aesthetician could see me, so I was fine, but they told me I would have to come at 5:30 or between 7-7:30. Just a complete mess as I have my own schedule to keep up with, so ultimately I will not be getting waxed today. Unsure how to proceed as I will probably have to wait another month. Ugh. This spot has the worst customer service. I made an appt online, I show up for my appt and the door is locked and no receptionist is in the front. I contact the customer rep online, she apologized and told me she contacted the manager and someone is coming to open the door in "2 mins". Well after 10 mins I was still standing outside. When someone came and opened the door. My tech Megan comes out of a room laughing and joking with her coworker. So two people were there and decided to lock the door and go in a room not pay attention or look out for customers. This will be my last time visiting this place. They have too many rules about lateness and cancellations but do not hold themselves to the same standard. read more

This was my first time at this location and I will DEFINITELY be a return client. The vibe of the place is much lighter than the previous location I frequented. The girls seem to be having a good time and work well together. I had Diamond and she was great. It had been a little while between waxes for me but she was super thorough. She is not very chatty, which I appreciate the space to just zone out a bit. She also made sure that I was comfortable and was very pleasant after the service. Sugaring is a bit more painful than waxing but the end result is definitely better. As someone who suffers from constant ingrowns, I have to say that sugaring provides optimal exfoliation. My skin still feels baby soft. Will definitely go back for a follow up service. Also, my aesthetician was lovely and put me at great ease given that this was my first time trying this new form of hair removal. I have gone to Sugaring NYC for years so trust me when I say that I know what I'm talking about. I have been booked for appointments on numerous occasions that were canceled spontaneously - which of course completely spoils my plans. I've had to scramble before vacations to make up for this. I continued to go because I love my tech. Most recently, I was booked for another appointment that was canceled. I am in the hardest time of my life and needed this moment of self-care and once again, I have been disappointed. I called and they were not able to resolve the issue. I will not be returning. Everyone drops the ball - the goal is to support companies that pick it back up. Upon this event, I thought back and realized they never have done any repair with these incidents and I continued to spend my money there. Please. So it wasn't bad but it could have been better. This was my first time here. They were extremely accommodating with me pushing my time back because I was not going to make it on time. The wait was minimal. Fast forward to the procedure. I paid for numbing spray. I wanted to see how the service felt with numbing spray. I am assuming that it was an oversight rather than intentional regardless, the numbing spray was not used. Whoever said that sugaring hurts less than wax is a whole lie. Yeah, I grinned and beared it but it hurt more than any wax I've ever had and this was only my underarms. Given the level of discomfort, I don't think I would let them do my Brazilian. Another thing, I was offered some oil. I was told that there was chamomile, tea tree and peppermint. I specifically asked if there were any nuts in the oil. I was explicitly told no. I happened to look at the bottle before I left.... Let's just say that I'm glad my allergy test for must came back as negative. That was my challenge test because there was definitely nuts. A day later when I looked under my arms, I definitely saw some strands of hair under my arm. I probably will go back to see how it feels with the numbing spray. read more

This was my first time to this location and I will definitely be back again! They were very accommodating when I had to reschedule due to traffic. The wait time was minimal since I arrived early. I was waxed by Treasure and WOW, she does it fast and efficiently. I was seriously so shocked because I'm used to it taking at least 15 minutes but she did it in less than 10 min (maybe 5-8 min give or take). I hate to write this review but I made an appointment at this Sugaring location 3 weeks in advance to avoid any hiccups before an important photoshoot. The day before the appointment, I confirmed via the email they sent. However THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT, I received a call because they had to cancel my appointment due to an employee getting sick. I was so frustrated because they did not even have anyone to cover my appointment. I was left stranded with no appointment and it was so late that I could not get make another at any NYC location. I was so pissed! I have visited other locations and have never had a terrible issue like this. I would advice to be weary of booking at this location and to visit another if possible. read more

My FIRST TIME experiencing getting waxed and I loved it. I appreciate the aesthetician for how comfortable and professional she was. I look forward to coming back to this clean environment! However, I did not appreciate the certain employees approach. I was approached with monotone voice and mundane energy from certain employees which was not very hospitable. Being that I created an account and proceeded to get serviced. I got that text conforming my appointment so I was unaware that the card was on hold and I was bot charged for my service. But the unwelcoming employee felt the need to say it was in the fine print. Hun be for real. While waiting to pay. Another employee by the desk instantly locks the door. I can proudly and baldy state that this is my second time sugaring and that already speaks volumes! I confess I haven't gotten a wax since.. (I'll never tell) haha. My first time at Sugar Park Slope I got a Full Bikini, which took about 20 mins. On a pain scale of 1-10, I'd say it was a solid 6.5-7.6, depending on the area. Surprisingly, I came back 4ish weeks later for a Brazilian! That big momma handles everything and then some lol! Now, I technically had to endure the Full bikini (with much less hair than the first time), but still a process. Luckily my waxing specialist did everything she could to make me as comfortable as possible. She was waxing in the rhythm of my breathing which i thought was very helpful. As I exhaled she ripped off. I have no idea how she kept me talking the whole time but I was in there chatting and that made the time pass faster than expected, it's a Jedi mind trick they play on us. Oh, once I got through the Brazilian, which on a pain scale was a 7.8-9.3. I mean, but it's obviously worth it. I then had the audacity to include my under arms. I would say my under arms on the pain scale were a 4.3, actually doable. I would very much recommend sugaring over waxing it's a much better experience and overall less painful with great, smooth and silky results. Special Shout out to Alexis (from my first time, I hope i got her name right) and the two lovely ladies on Tuesday, 3/17 around 7pm.
