Today was my first sugaring experience and it could not have gone better! I have tried waxing twice which was a nightmare for my skin. Ladies and gents quit going to the nail salons and chains for the cheap torture wax jobs! Invest in your skin. Julie is personable, and truly cares about your experience. She takes the time to cleanse your skin properly, talks you through it, pays attention to the smallest hairs the wax didn't catch and treats the area with tea tree oil after. Came in for a Brazilian with Leslie and she was professional, personable and communicative (explaining what she was going to do before she did it). She also kept the conversation going so time flew by and it was a nice distraction from the pain. Price seemed a tad expensive for me - I'm pretty frugal - but seems like there is always some kind of discount or promotion. I had been toying around with the idea because shaving was becoming too much of a hassle. Having never been sugared before, or even waxed for that matter, I wasn't quite sure about what to expect. I was nervous. But Julie did an amazing job at making me feel comfortable. (Maybe it was the fact she's been a nurse for so many years.) It is a different technique to get used to at first but same sensation if used to waxing. I came here twice and I almost went a third time, but I couldn't do it to myself. So I will defiantly say that the first time I came in I had just taken a shower and I shouldn't have done that. She ended up ripping some of my skin off . I didn't realize it until the next day when three bruises popped up. So I went again and informed her what had happen, asked if she could make the sugar a little bit warmer and she said no it would melt. She went around my bruised area, and it took 40 minutes for her to finish. Going in regularly I remember it only taking less than 20 minutes for a refresher. She couldn't get all of the hair from my bruised area and discounted my return appointment to $60. 5 days later another bruise appears. This has never happened to me and I'm just going to say that the sugar they use here doesn't work for everyone. You should never bruise and they should always rub you down with aloe or coconut oil afterwards. read more

I have had an amazing experience here at Sugaring La Carlsbad. The first time I ever got a sugared was here and it was the real deal. I have been waxed in the past at other places and they have claimed to use "sugar wax" which is nothing like sugaring. My past experiences with "sugar wax" were awful I was burned and got a bunch of ingrown hairs. Since I have been coming here to get some real sugar :p I have had the best hair regrowth and my skin is never in pain for the rest of the day or red. It is absolutely awesome! I honestly am very sensitive and they do their best to make me feel comfortable and ease the pain of sugaring which is 10000% less painful then a hard wax or sugar wax. If you go there ask for Julie she will drop some knowledge on you about sugaring and how it is more beneficial then wax which after I had it done it spoke for itself. The place is located in a little plaza down town Carlsbad and I have been going here ever since my first appointment. Love it Everyone should get sugared!
