I found Sugarlips from a Bloomspot offer, and I always like to try new methods of hair removal to see if I like it better than what I am using. I could not give her the full 5 Stars because: 1) She is located inside a beauty salon and she occupies a curtained off corner area, which I did not mind (like some below have mentioned). What did concern me is that the table that I had to lay on to be serviced was not covered. I would have preferred if there was either a towel or medical tissue paper that gets replaced after each customer. I'm sure she wipes it down and cleans it, but I couldn't stop thinking that my skin, which began to sweat upon contact with the leather material, was touching and laying directly above where other people have also laid on and probably also sweated on without any type of cover. Kinda grossed me out. On the Positives: 1) She is very friendly 2) She tries to keep the conversation going to put you more at ease. 3) She is THOROUGH!! Let me explain: She did a marvelous job of really getting in there and removing ALL hair including in my in-between-the-cheeks area--you know that one area where the sun don't shine LOL As for me, that kind of physical contact does not make me feel uncomfortable at all and I am actually grateful that she is that detailed. The way I look at it, she's probably seen it all, so no need to feel insecure. 4) Parking could be pretty tough in Manhattan Beach. I got pretty lucky to find a spot in front of the salon and I only paid the meter .75¢. Would I recommend it? 1) I found it to be more painful than Hard Wax. 2) I would recommend it to those who don't mind some extra pain in exchange for a more meticulous job 3) Be comfortable with her detailed approach 4) The liquified sugar goo sits at a room temperature so it seemed harder for her to apply and roll over your skin unlike hot wax that just oozes right over. She had to apply a bit more pressure to smooth it down. (once again a little more handling that some may be used to) 5) My session took about 30 mins Overall my experience was a good one, and would definitely recommend it to those that want to try out something organic and have a higher tolerance for pain. read more

First off let me say I'll never get waxed again when it comes to my Brazilian. Sugaring is everything it's way less painful, the sugar doesn't burn your skin when it's applied, and your not all sticky once your done which means you don't have to worry about rushing home to shower or take a bath to soak because your in pain. My esthetician put me at ease with her warm personality. She explained the entire process started a conversation with me and before I knew it she had began. The pain was very minimal except when she did the center of my mons pubis that did cause some discomfort, but I know as time goes on it'll be easier for me to bear. She was very thorough in making sure she got all the little stray hairs and was done in no time, and I had absolutely no irritation. She has definitely made a new client!!! read more

Loved it. Got sugar waxed here once. It's a pretty neat concept. It's basically a big sugar ball that's like a clump of really thick honey. They rub the ball flat on your skin and use it in substitute of wax cloth strips. It's much cleaner than wax strips and doesn't hurt half as bad as regular waxing. Doesn't have any harmful chemicals or ingredients, so it's a much smarter choice. Full bikini wax cost me over $100. plus her gratuity. Wish I could do it more often, it's just really really expensive, can't afford it. And it lasts about the same amount of time as if you were to get a regular wax service done. She did a great job though. TIP: be sure to book your appt. early. Their schedules fill up fast. read more

I just received my first sugaring brazilian (i've done hard wax before this) and I'm a bit disappointed...not so much in the results, just the actual services if that makes sense. Ashley seemed unwelcoming and very dry. As I stated before, this wasn't my first time having a brazilian, so I expected pain, but the pain just seemed so extreme and she didn't even take out time to explain the procedure as I hope she would have. And to top it all off, she basically told me she expected gratuity...i work as a waitress, so I always tip, but I just found it weird that she mentioned.it as if it was a necessity. Won't be returning...going back to european wax center for a less expensive, more comfortable wax. read more

I bought a Groupon deal a couple of months ago, and I'm glad I did! I had an appointment at 10:40am today, and I was running late. I thought that they weren't gonna take me in, because I was 15 minutes late. I was so surprised that Sarah still let me have my appointment. I had a Brazilian sugaring done, and it was AMAZING. I was a bit hesitant my first time getting this sugaring treatment that made no sense in my mind (how the heck does the hair come off)...BUT IT WORKS! And I love it. There was a noticeable difference for me in comparison to waxing and it really does only take 15-20 minutes...I'm telling you I believed none of this at first. ASHLEY rocks and does a fantastic job. Wow, do I love sugaring! I never have gone much before, but I was so excited to see a place in the south bay since my friends further north on the 405 have loved going but I didn't want to drive that far. So much better than waxing and NO PAIN. I have had no ingrowns on the bikini and no bumps on my upper lip that I get from waxing. I use retina and used to not be able to wax my eyebrows since the skin gets too red and sensitive. With sugaring, no problem, at all. I had a LS deal. Place is cute but the receptionist was not friendly and did not make me feel welcome. The wax itself was really quick and left my skin soft. No redness or bumps. But it does hurt a bit more that other methods. When it is being applied it pulls at your hair and that is the part I found a bit more painful that usual. And it is just way too expensive to maintain. I wax pretty regularly so there is not so much there and I don't take everything off but I saw their regular brazillian price at $75! Too much for me. I was used to getting a fabulous wax from Uni K in Miami for $20! So the prices here seem crazy to me. But good I guess if you can afford it. read more
