Today was our first time trying Sugrue's and for Pub style food it was really good & different. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I can see myself going back to watch some football or to listen to live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

What a gem. I was craving a little alone time while on vacation so I Yelped the closest place with good reviews. Wow am I lucky. Sugrues is no more than a neighborhood sports bar, but the service and food out it out of this league. Plenty of seating, TVs, typical bar atmosphere. Pool tables, high top tables, booths, friendly people at the bar My server was a doll. So nice and helpful. Seriously, she made my afternoon. And it appeared she May her been the only server that afternoon. She didn't miss a beat First off, Sugrues makes specialty egg rolls. The flavors vary, but in this day there was Meatball Parm, Jambalaya, some dessert options, and Philly Cheesesteak (which I chose). I would have liked a little sauce to go with it, but wow what great flavor. She told me they had the best burgers on the beach- also not wrong. I got the Royal, with egg and bacon. Perfectly seasoned and cooked patty. Nice size, appropriate bun. Chips were good too. I'll be back next time I'm in town. I guess I'll bring the family next time ;-)

This was your nice local bar/restaurant. The staff and the regulars are very friendly. They have specials everyday day on food and drinks. In the e ending the have live music also. Went in the afternoon so I didn't get to experience the live music. My meal was the garlic Parmesan wings and a Caesar salad. The wings were very flavorful. Caesar salad was a little bland to me but you really can't get much from a regular Caesar salad. The steak egg rolls were packed with filling of steak and cheese. Lots of flavor and good service. If you looking for a nice spot for a quick bite and good food, this is the place.

Not sure about this place when we walked in on a Friday night. The band was tuning up and I figured it was going to be loud. Turn out they sounded good. The food was reasonable priced with large portions. I had a Burger and the wife had a hot dog. Now we are five hours away and want seconds.

I was told about this place 2 years ago as a good 'locals place'. My wife and I are on our last week at the beach so I made it a point to go here before we left. It is not much to look at on the outside but boy am I glad that we finally made the stop. Picture a very old fashioned local pub with dark wood and a long bar and tables and low lighting playing great classic rock music and you will be in this bar. What a great vibe and the young ladies behind the bar were super pleasant and very observant to the needs of everyone in the restaurant. I have never seen two servers who, regardless of which one first helped a customer would stop and make sure that you did not need more food or another drink. We were there for the happy hour and the happy hour menu is good bar food at a great price. They offer egg rolls with a twist and neither of us could resist trying them. My wife had the Philly cheesesteak and they tasted just like the sandwich. I chose the meatball parmesan which were delicious. They also had a jambalaya as well. I also had the beef tacos (3) and my wife had a cheese quesadilla which was big. Everyone that was there was very pleasant and it was a friendly atmosphere. I do agree with the reviewer that stated the outdoor area was a smokers haven as that is the impression that we got. There is no view and not really inviting. Overall our experience was great and we will definitely be back again.Ch

Food was great here. We came during Happy Hour (4-7) and there were college football games on the many tv's so they were busy. A little slow getting to us but another shift of servers came in at 6pm so the service was great after that. A band started playing around 7. The Happy Hour specials were great! Bucket of domestic beer, 5 for $15, .50 boneless wings, $2 jumbo dog and more. I recommend going there.

Terrific food, great happy hour specials and a fantastic staff. This is definitely "a local pub done right". I have to admit that after coming to Myrtle Beach for so many years, I thought we had all our favorite restaurants, bars, etc. figured out, but then we visited Sugrue's and the guys literally fell for the place. A few from our group knew the owner, so we stopped in to check it out. Well... try eating out with 20 golfers and having everyone agree that they liked the food and wanted to go back. Sugrue's is as close to perfect as it gets. The space is huge with plenty of seating at the bar or tables, lots of room to play pool or darts... or just to spread out. The guys raved about the burgers and wings, but there's so much more on the menu that looks interesting like Egg Rolls, Sauced Shrimp Pasta, Loaded Nachos, Cheese Quesadillas and Tacos. I had the "Have A Meltdown Burger" - Swiss Cheese, Sautéed Onions, 1000 Island Dressing on Grilled Rye. OMG... in all my Yelp reviews, I don't think I've ever bragged about a burger, but this was awesome. It's clear that Sugrue's takes pride in everything from creating a comfortable atmosphere, terrific food and customer service.

We noticed there was live music outside which I wasn't thrilled about but I wanted to sit by the ocean. We were seated very quickly and our sweet waitress immediately went to get our drinks. My husband and I opted to share the fish and chips and I got a cup of clam chowder and he got a bowl. I also got a blackberry bourbon bramble. The good...the mixed drink was excellent! The fish on the fish and chips was seriously one of the best things we had this trip. The not so good...the fries were soggy. The clam chowder was room temperature and SALTY. The waitress did warm it up when asked but I always hate sending stuff back to the kitchen but it seemed much better when it came back. The live music started at 7pm and let me tell you...that musician was so talented! It wasn't too loud and it was fun to listen to. Overall...The drinks and fish were GREAT. The view was ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR. The other things that I found MEH, could have just been an off night. Our waitress was lovely and the prices were decent. I would try this place again.

It consisted of 2 deep fried soft shell crabs, 3 deep fried jumbo (and yes, they were actually jumbo) shrimp on top of a bed of various deep fried vegetables. Although the entire dish was deep-fried, it didn't feel heavy or greasy. And the batter chef Bo made mad it all sooooo flavorful! I ordered the granddaddy's grilled cheese. It was a very different take on grilled cheese, but also absolutely delightful!! I believe you can't go wrong with bacon and fig jam on sourdough bread. And for my side, I wanted something a little different so I ordered the sweet potato grits. Do yourself a favor and try them! They are rich and creamy and sweet but not too sweet... Perfect! As delicious as all that was, the showstopper was dessert. We had the lemon blueberry cake. There are not enough words to say how delicious this was! Dense, sweet, but also tar from the fresh lemon with fresh blueberries baked in with a perfect layer of cream cheese icing. I wanted to order another one just to take home. And if the food wasn't enough to keep us coming back. Our service was absolutely amazing. Rachel was our server and she was a rockstar!!! She knew the menu very well! She made amazing recommendations and was attentive and friendly and all-around wonderful! As an added bonus, we were seated in the perfect corner booth for date night. And they had one of their regular live music performers there which added just the right touch. We can't wait to go back!

Jan. 2026 My wife…read moreand I hadn't been back to 44 & King in a few years. With so many good restaurants in the area, we usually try new places, but before heading home we decided it was time to stop in again for dinner. As usual, we try to go during happy hour when prices are a bit better, and we sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly she greeted us right away, handed us menus, and took our drink order. The menu had changed a bit since our last visit. My wife ordered a Coke, and I had an Old Fashioned. For food, my wife chose the Fried Crab Claws with fries, and I ordered the French Onion Soup along with the Pork Nachos from the happy hour menu. While we were waiting, the bartender asked where we were from. We told her Southern Maryland, and when I said Huntingtown, she immediately said, "That's where I'm from." That alone surprised us not many people even know where Huntingtown is. When we mentioned the road we live on, she said, "That's the road I turn on to my parents' house." This was the first time we've ever met a bartender or server over 400 miles from home who lived that close to us. Small world. Our food came out and my wife really enjoyed her crab claws -- I tried one and they were very good. My French onion soup had a nice, deep beef flavor and was very tasty, but after a few bites there was a heavy pepper bite that came through. It was still good, but I had to switch over and eat some of my nachos, which were also good, though different from how I remembered them. I think the BBQ sauce changed the flavor, and the lettuce (which I usually prefer without) was something I should have asked to leave off. I asked my wife to try the soup and mentioned the pepper and that it might be a little spicy. She agreed it was good but said it would be better if it wasn't so peppery. A little later, the chef came out and introduced himself, Bo. He asked how everything was going. I told him everything was good overall but mentioned the heavy pepper bite in the onion soup and asked if that was normal. He said it shouldn't be that strong and that it needed to be toned back. Bo then asked if we had ever tried Mama's Soup, the tomato vegetable soup on the menu. We hadn't, and he asked if we'd like to try it. Not long after, he brought us another bowl and said, "This is Mama's soup give it a try." It was a vegetable soup with hamburger and a tomato base, and it was so good. When he came back, he explained it was his own version of his mother's soup. We told him it would go perfectly with a gooey grilled cheese, and he laughed and said they actually have one on the menu. It was really nice of Chef Bo to come out, check on us, listened and know something wasn't quite right, and it's being taken care of. That kind of interaction truly makes dining out a better experience. It makes the place feel welcoming, like they genuinely want you there. Yes, we will return -- and we were told that Mama's soup is always on the menu.
