Left with two bad tastes in my mouth. To be fair, food is generally good. However, we ordered the red snapper in tamarind sauce as one of our mains. The fish ($38) itself tasted VERY off, as it had been in the fridge for far too long. It was inedible. The server stopped by to ask how everything was and we explained the issue with the fish. To their credit, they apologized and offered us something else to eat, though we politely declined. I just tried Sukhumvit for the first time and as a huge fan of Thai food, I can tell you I'll be back. The service was perfect and the decor was minimalist. We had a seat in the window which was perfect (a little too hot to sit outside). The Food was fresh and the presentation matched the quality and taste. This review is for their lunch specials. Great selection of Thai favorites including Pad Thai, curries, sauteed, and fried rice. The lunch menu is vegetarian friendly. Specials come with one appetizer and rice. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and the waitress. For appetizers we shared Vegetable Tom Yum Gong soup, Sukhumvit Dumpling, and Tub-Tim Fritter. The soup was flavorful and zesty. The tasty dumplings and fritters were garnished with salad greens and a light dressing. We ordered Tamarind Fish (crispy tilapia), Green Curry with Shrimp, and Thai Basil with Chicken. The flavors were very delicious and authentic. The tamarind sauce adds a yummy tangy flavor to the crispy tliapia. The coconut gave the green curry sauce a slightly thick but not watery consistency. We enjoyed these two dishes the most. The thai basil with chicken was good but a bit bland in comparison to the other two dishes. Even though the menu listed some of these dishes as spicy, the spice (hot) level was very mild. Ordered first time today. Was craving soup so ordered both the Tom yum and kha. Huge disappointment. Flavors were super off, no coconut anything, and not good. Pad Thai was super super sweet, didn't like that either. Red curry was basically soup with no depth of flavor like a good curry would have. Rice was not jasmine that was ordered. What a rip off this place is. I ordered Thai Ice Tea. It tasted extremely weak so I looked at it and noticed it contained only about 20% tea, 10% milk and 70% ice. They have the nerve to charge $6 for a regular size of that! The food was okay but also overpriced for what they serve. They also are stingy with the accompanying rice and condiments. We thought the food was very good. However, we were ignored by the wait staff in an otherwise completely empty restaurant with them hanging in the back. They don't know how to handle wine there either, or at least our waitress did not. Another woman stepped in and seemed to know what she was doing. Hands down the best pad thai I've had in NJ! Other dishes I love: Crying Tiger beef and chicken ramakrian. They also make it super spicy if you ask for fresh green chili. We ordered takeout via Grubhub. The delivery was easy and right on time. But the food itself was really just not good. We had really high hopes for Sukhumvit because we had a friend that had really good things to say and we read some reviews online that were all positive. However, we really found the flavor and texture of the food to be less than mediocre. The pork chop was extremely tough and we could barely eat it. The satay was also quite dry. The pad see ew was both too salty and too sweet. And the papaya salad was just plain not good. The only decent thing were the spring rolls. We've been living in the area for over 30 years and have tried multiple Thai restaurants and it's never been this bad. It was such a disappointment, and expensive too. The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered 4 dishes and they were all equally good, no complaints! We did come in on a Saturday night so it was very crowded and we had to wait a while to get service, but the wait was worth it. When we arrived the restaurant was pretty noisy but since we had an 8:00 reservation the noice stared to die down as people left. Overall, it's a great restaurant and I will be returning! We've tried this place several times but the quality has been definitely declining with each visit. At this point, most dishes taste the same, are drenched in sauce, and overly sweet and salty. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and there are outdoor tables with umbrellas for nice weather. The service is attentive and friendly. The food - absolutely fabulous. I had the spring rolls this time as an appetizer. They were fresh and crispy and not greasy and piping hot when they arrived at the table. They were served with a dipping sauce that I wanted to pour on everything - a great combination. This was followed by Massauman Curry. You get your choice of proteins.
