We are always so well taken care of by Jed, the Lead; Pat, the Manager; and Pupay, Owner and outstanding Chef! I am vegan and my partner is not, and we both love the tasty dishes we are served. We begin with a yummy papaya salad made vegan, with fish sauce on the side for Tom. Then we enjoy vegetable dumplings (last night deliciously fried!). Following that we both enjoy one of their their wonderful curries: Tom's red curry spicy, with vegetables and shrimp, and my red curry (vegan and less spicy) with vegetables and tofu (pictured below). In summer months, we always look forward to finishing our meal with their special mango and sticky rice! The restaurant also has a bakery open 6 mornings a week, serving a variety of specialty coffees and homemade pastries. I am so grateful to this restaurant for accommodating my vegan diet easily and happily. Have ordered takeout here a few times and the food is good, some dishes are ok. The prices are fair and the portions are nice though. The pad thai didn't quite have much flavor that I would have liked and tasted somewhat bland. The appetizer spring rolls we got was the highlight of that meal. We do love our thai food, and wanted to give this place another try, so I opted for the drunken noodles the second time we tried this place out and definitely loved the flavor in those. A side-note that we had friends that over-estimated their spice tolerance. These spice levels are strong so just keep that in mind! read more

What can I say. This is place is a total gem. Family owned and run. It is warm and inviting. The service is top notch they treat like an old friend you haven't seen in years. All the Dishes are amazing my Favorite is the duck spicy basil, my mom gets the green curry which is also fabulous. The Tom Kha Soup literally took me back to the time I spent in Thailand it's a velvety broth of coconut chicken and mushrooms. A refreshing walk from Verona Park, Aroy-D serves up quality Asian food to keep you refreshed during a day of boating, golfing or other recreation. I ended up on the receiving end of takeout so I don't know the interior, but I can tell you that we all devoured what came home with us, sampling each others' wares. There was definitely some sharing around the table - fresh rolls were a hit, certainly very fresh. Pad Thai is a staple with my family, then I went for Panang Curry for a change. I'm not a peanut person, but Panang did not taste much like it despite saying "peanut based". Hot, sweet, very nice. "Thai spicy" (or "triple dog dare" here) wasn't spicy to me, but that's the norm. I actually heard other people's dishes (Pad King for one) came out hotter than they wanted, and that's the star deduction I'm giving - everyone had about the same heat level. But all very tasty and I think a solid choice for Verona. Hope they stick around. read more

This has been our "go to" Thai restaurant since it first opened. Amazing food with incredible service.

I had high hopes for the food here but it left so much to be desired not only taste wise but service as well. We were a large party of 10. They were great getting us seated and everything as we had a reservation. The lo mein and chicken satay were a hit with the kids. The spring rolls were standard but nothing to write home about. I ordered the drunken noodles. Here's where it went downhill. On the menu for another item it mentioned fish sauce being incorporated. It didn't say it on the drunken noodles... I ordered them vegetarian. As soon as it came out it had an overwhelming fishy smell. It was confirmed that it had oyster sauce in it. When I mentioned it not being vegetarian the manager pushed back with saying did you say you were vegan? It never mentioned having any sort of non vegetarian item in it so why would I? She made a new one at half price... the kicker was that it was so incredibly salty and sickeningly sweet that it left it practically inedible. Same went for a lot of the other dishes that my family ordered. The red curry was also very sweet and the pineapple fried rice was meh. We had enough left on the table to have at least another dinners worth but we all decided it was not worth taking any of it back and we should just cut our losses. I recommend this restaurant adding a note on their menu for things that aren't vegetarian... like they did for the papaya salad. Needless to say we won't be going back. read more

I had this place bookmarked for quite sometime and finally got a chance to check it out over the weekend. We called before to make reservations for dinner and were seated right away when we got here. The place is small but cute and we were welcomed by the hostess. Our server was fantastic and she really went above and beyond to make our experience great. She was able to accommodate and get some veggies for our little one. I got the spicy basil and wife got something off menu(basil fried rice), and both dishes were super flavorful and tasty. The spicy basil I had was probably one of the best I have had outside of Thailand. Overall the experience was great, from service, food and ambience. I dined in. It tasted pretty good!! && I eat Thai food a lot so definitely a great place in terms of taste!! Perf amount of spicy and sour in the papaya salad. A lot of people came for take out while I was there so def a popular place. And they had tables far apart for social distancing. If you're coming for dinner, the street parking in a front is free after 4pm on weekdays!! The only reason it was 4 stars instead of 5 was because our table was super stickyyy. I would deduct just 0.5 stars if it was possible. We were the only table there and I even came in ahead of time to tell them I was coming. We found this place in Verona for a date night dinner. The place was cute and had a rustic feel. The interior was young and the vibe was refreshing. The place was clean and staff was wearing masks. Jed and Pat attended to us, they were warm and professional, checked in with us periodically. Jeds recommendation of green curry was on point to fulfill my spicy food cravings. The food was fresh and delicious, the flavors were vibrant. They have a good selection for vegetarians. When my favorite Thai place closed my friend and I were heat broken and were desperate to find a new Thai place. I did my research on Yelp and saw all the great reviews Arroy was getting and decided to try them out. It is a lovely restaurant. And the customer service is fantastic! I called when they opened and made reservations ( I would recommend doing that because all the tables were filled on a Friday night) but we were seated almost immediately because we made reservations. There's was real flowers in small vases on the tables. The decor was giving farm barn vibes , really cute. We sat in the main room and I believed there's a second room. We had a 3-course meal. Appetizers: fried dumplings Entree: Spicy Thai Basil , I don't remember what my friend got but it had shrimp and pineapples Dessert: chocolate lava cake Drank: BYOB so we bought a bottle of wine Everything was delicious. I didn't love the lava cake, but it seems the star dessert items are the ice creams ( we'll get that next time) Parking: I came after 6pm so I was able to park across the street ! When you call in an order and they say pick it up in 45 minutes, ok. But when you get there and have to wait another 25 minutes, not ok. Note: about four door dash and grub hub guys were also waiting. So were four other customers. The one delivery guy said he often has to wait extra long at the elephant. Better system needed. The phone kept ringing. And restaurant diners kept coming. So the food here attracts. But I will not order from here on a Saturday again. The food: fine. Shrimp bun appetizers were exceptional. Would not get the bland pulled pork buns again. Pad king and the Massamam curry mains were fine. Value for those good. At $12.95 each. But hubby and I agreed: we like some other nearby Thai places better in terms of those classic dishes. We will try here again on a week night to see if take-out is more reliable. Please edit your menu to reflect what is on your website. We ordered spicy basil and it doesn't have the full description of what we received. Description says Basil, bell peppers, string beans and onions as what's cooked with the protein. There's eggplant in it. I'm allergic to eggplant and now have wasted our money on a whole meal I cannot eat. We ordered takeout right before they were going to close, so I can't even call to get a refund or have them make it over. read more

My original review of Aroy-D The Thai Elephant in Verona was back in 2019, so I thought an update was worthwhile. I should say that although it's been three years since my review, my family has continued to enjoy their food since then. A lot of it was take-out, but tonight we happily were able to dine-in as a family. It seems that most of their business is still take-out, but I'm happy to report that their food and service is still top-notch. The wait staff hasn't changed, and they continue to be accommodating and friendly. They even remembered my name. The prices are a bit higher than they were, but well within what's reasonable. Tonight we all had their wonderful Tom Kha soup, which I still believe is the best in the area. My mother thoroughly enjoyed her Pad Cashew, which she ordered with only vegetables. My father and I also had the Pad Cashew, but with beef. We asked for extra cashews, which they happily added at no extra cost (which was an unexpected, but nice surprise). Also, while many Thai restaurants are skimpy with the beef in their dishes, Aroy-D is not. It's true adding beef comes with an up-charge of $1, but we definitely felt it was worth it (and really, for $1, live it up!). It was a nice meal and I encourage you to try Aroy-D The Thai Elephant. I was very disappointed in the Thai elephant right from the get go. My coworker and I walked into the restaurant and the waitress greeted us with "what do you want?" Thinking this was only her and not blaming the quality of the facility, we continued onward with our lunch. I went for the duck salad and there almost no meet in it and way too many peanuts. I am aware that Thai cuisine uses peanuts but at least 1/3 of the plate was peanuts. Not too many greens on the plate. I knew it wasn't just what I ordered because my coworker ordered the chicken curry and there was barely any chicken in his meal. I know it's a hard time for restaurants and I don't like giving negative reviews but this place wasn't cheap and I don't want anyone losing out on money over this in the time we are in. read more

Great food, BYOB, well-distanced individual outdoor tents considering the current COVID guidelines. We went on Sunday afternoon for lunch - and got seated right away in one of the tents (had to chive a call to let them know that we are waiting outside foe being seated). Under new operations, their covid protocols are pretty good. They have very strong signage, provide sanitizer, and even lists out protocols to help decrease the spread. We ate here and called in. The tents help keep bugs away and keep you cool in the hot summer sun. They have some nice background music that's perfect. You have to wear a mask when you get up which makes everyone feel safe. they were thoughtful and provided us a fan too if we needed. We ordered curry puffs, thai ice tea, duck spicy basil with rice on the side and the drunken noodles. Everything was off the chart, deeply flavored and wonderfully fresh. read more
