Healthy Food is a medium-sized Chinese restaurant that is exclusively takeout/delivery during the Covid pandemic. The menu doesn't deviate much from standard Chinese takeout, but they do make your food freshly and quickly with tasty ingredients. The phone service is so polite, and they've created a virtually contact-less pick-up service at the door. I've tried various items on the menu, but I feel the Lo Mein is standout here and I get it every time. A very big portion for about $7 can feed two. My friend took me to dinner here with her family a while ago and we continue to eat here whenever we start craving a Healthy Food fix. Healthy Food is a quaint, little Chinese restaurant in Verona, where you can do dine-in, take-out, or order delivery. All options are great. The restaurant's interior is very tranquil and the staff are welcoming and attentive. Take-out is quick, especially if you call it in ahead of time. Lastly, delivery is always on point - even during lunch time (note:delivery requires a $10 minimum). My friend and her family have some dietary restrictions (they need to keep their sodium and carbohydrate intake down). Healthy is a great option for similar type customers because all dishes are prepared with trans fat free and cholesterol free canola oil, without MSG, and fresh ingredients. Every thing on the menu is pretty legit. Our favorites are the salt and pepper shrimp and the flounder. I have a thing for the Maggi Chicken dish (it's not for everybody, but it reminds me of food I ate when I was a kid). I highly recommend Healthy Food if you are in the area. read more

Solid Chinese takeout place in Verona. In area w/mediocre Chinese food at best, I am always a bit skeptical but this place delivered. We got take-out as while there is ample table space, the ambiance didn't seem to inviting. The food was ready right on time and they take 10% off the bill if you pay in cash. They also do a good job on packaging so once I got the food home, it was still intact. I felt like the prices were a bit high for what you got, especially as they charge extra for brown rice. They don't use MSG and use less processed ingredients. I got moo shu veggies for my entree and a side of veggie dumplings to split w/my family. I loved the steamed dumplings - they didn't fall apart, had a good texture, and a delicious helping of veggies inside. My moo shu was good as well - nothing amazing but it didn't have that oily, greasy feeling that alot of Chinese take out has. My mom got shrimp w/ginger which came w/the nicest presentation - whole shrimp neatly layered over greens. It was a bit pricey for $13. Others got mixed steamed veggies (also a healthier version of the standard) and broccoli over garlic sauce and were pleased. For what this place is, I highly recommend it! read more

This review is long overdue. We have been ordering delivery from here for years. In my opinion it's the best Chinese food around, not only because of the superior quality and fresh ingredients, but the price is amazing too. The big bowl Asian noodle soups are so jam-packed with veggies that there is hardly any broth you can see. For only $9.50 you can get a few meals out of it. This restaurant opened in the same space as the recently closed Pahang. Great find! It's mostly Chinese food with a few of the old dishes served by Pahang. We had cold noodles with sesame sauce which was better than the average gooey mess they usually serve you around here, Tangerine Beef, which was very well prepared, and Boneless Crispy Duck with Hoisin Sauce. The duck was coooked perfectly not overdone and the sauce and the vegetables were wonderful. The chef states that he useses only fresh ingredients no canned veggies and no MSG. While I understand why they picked the name "Healthy Foods" for thier restaurant they might do with another choice. From the name one cannot tell if this is a health food restaurant or a low end Chinese Takeout place. It is neither. This is high end Asian cooking. Try it! read more

This is by far the best Chinese I have had in the area so far. It is the most similar to West coast Chinese. I like how they use REAL vegetables and meat and not the frozen boxed supply that every other place gets. And it has way less sugar and salt because if it! This may be off putting to the normal Jersey Folk that smother everything in sugar sauce but I assure you it is delicious. I highly recommend the Beef Chow Fun, the Kung Pao chicken, and steamed dumplings! It may be pricier than the others but that's what happens when using fresh ingredients. read more

The taker of the order on the phone was very pleasant. The delivery to nearby Montclair was quick. The dishes were superbly wonderful, and they were thoughtfully wrapped twice to avoid spillage during transit. The dumplings seemed made-in-store: light, fresh and delicious. The shrimp rolls were light and flavorful. The honey chicken was not heavy. All white meat; no left-over dark meat that is often found at too many restaurants offering Asian fare. For years I've be getting Chinese food from a Cedar Grove restaurant that began well but has declined to uncleanliness, fatty-starch laden dishes, filthy on-premise conditions and delivery that never could follow directions. They have the worst service and snippy order takers. Every time we order delivery it takes an hour or more for food. I would t mind the time if they actually set the customers expectation. Tonite I am 70 minutes into waiting for our food to arrive. As for the food, avoid the chow fun, but the fried rice is good so is the honey chicken and pink dumplings. Only negative is parking (street only). There are meters along Bloomfield Ave as well as 3 municipal spots in the nearby bank. Our favorites are the Chicken Chow Mein (plenty of chicken & cooked to perfection!), lo mein, sesame chicken & garlic chicken. This is the freshest, best Asian food that I have ever had! In fact, I'm tempted to order some now! The only other comment that I would make is a suggestion that they add crab rangoon ot the menu. Had delivery. Gave the man too much money (overpaid $20). Didn't realize it until after the restaurant had closed. Called the next day and he denied getting the extra money. So I went back the day after to personally speak with him. Still denied getting the extra money. I was very upset and asked if it was possible to get a gift certificate for another time. My spring roll was absolutely gross, my chicken pad thai was bland and the chicken was chewy. The vegetable dumplings were the only thing I was able to enjoy.
