I got locked out of my apartment, as it's a slam-lock door and I had just moved in and was still getting used to the building. I talked to the locksmith the company dispatched to me on the phone, and he told me it would be $65 consult plus whatever service charges. Fine. When he got to the building, he told me it would be another $225 based on my lock. (*cried inside, but*) fine. He led me to believe that would be the full cost, so I said to go ahead. So then my lock was removed, and he then told me it would cost me another $350 for a new lock plus 80 for labor. He had spent maybe 1 minute just drilling into my old lock so....that $225 was just for that??!! I was furious that he had misled me initially-I was a solo female late at night locked out, and felt he had intentionally used misleading language to trick me about the pricing or mislead me to allow him to do the job. So now I have no lock plus the door is unusable-will lock automatically still. Locksmith then proceeded to hit on me over and over, asking if I wanted to take a shower with him, pretending to take his shirt off, asking for my phone number, asking to go to dinner after. I said there was no way I could afford over 700 for a lock change and he surveyed my apartment and said-"oh really?" Also continually commented on how my negotiation was "sexy." SO unprofessional. Shady pricing communication, pricing on the spot based on an estimated willingness to pay, creepy sexual advances. 1 star only because he arrived quickly on a Saturday night. read more

Updated after response from company (Arthur): I called Arthur after reading his response to my review here. He offered to refund me the money for the work done on the handle for the elevator door (see below). He was very apologetic and offered to fix the damage (which wasn't necessary as it had already been taken care of). Arthur dropped off the check for the refund today, which was much appreciated. -------------------------------- From previous review: - They insisted on installing a handle for a door that slid open automatically.
