I can't believe it took us this long to come here. We ordered way too much food, but there was so much we wanted to try. Started with oysters which were fabulous. They are served with a mignonette, which isn't my favorite, I should have asked for cocktail sauce z but I just slurped them down "naked" and they were fabulous. We also had the hushpuppy tots - the butter these come with is the perfect compliment. Hubs had the Sullivan fried platter, so good, it includes fried green tomatoes - YUM! And coleslaw that reminds me of Jewish delis from my childhood, but finely shredded. I had the fish tacos which were swordfish today, the salsa on there is perfect with the fish. Cocktails were good and if you've ever been to the BVI, the best painkiller that's not there, they even use Pusser's Rum. I can't wait to go back to try more of the menu. read more

Came here for brunch with the entire family, 9 of us. We ordered the following : Smoked fish dip Celery Salad (wow) Oysters on the half shell, 2 dozen. Sully's cornmeal fried combo Clam& Fish chowder Swordfish Taco's Double cheeseburger Ceviche Mixto Shrimp and Grits All in all, the food was tasty, and the service was okay. We have been to Sullivan's three times, and its been a very mixed experience. The one constant is service that is often slow or poorly timed with the bar service being the biggest issue. There is a lot to love about this restaurant - location, an upscale/beachy/comfortable vibe and food that can be exceptional. We are big fans of the sister restaurant Post House where we regularly visit. It is a tale of two restaurants. The Post House executes with precision, service is exceptional and the food is unwaveringly wonderful. Not the same with Sullivan's Fish Camp. Execution inconsistent - On one visit, our food took 45 minutes (was 2/3 full at best and no-one outside) - We were given fries gratis in recognition of the wait. Even at that visit at the bar, it took too much time to get our drinks. A recent visit (3/11/26), it took 20 minutes to get our drink order, and our food arrived shortly after. The server was attentive and mostly sympathetic, but sort of dismissed it as normal. The principle reason for the 3 rating is a service rating of 2 over these visits. The food is generally exceptional. For this dinner, we had their roasted squash which was absolutely amazing. They were out of a few dishes. We had a special tile fish on a root purée and an arugula and mushroom topping that was exceptional... but just warm at best. Execute. Food could be a 5, but it is a 4. The ladies at the window were friendly but it took a little while to get their attention. you walk up to the side window to order the ice cream. Good service, decent atmosphere. The only problem is that the food isn't very good. We had the lobster roll that they charged $40 for and it was supposed to be large chunks of lobster and very full roll. Instead we received smaller pieces that didn't even start filling the roll and the lobster wasn't fresh. We also had the flank steak on a piece of bread, which sounds great. The only problem is that the bread is a soggy mushy mess that you definitely don't want to eat and there's so much chimichurri sauce and the steak and it's so over salted that I couldn't taste the steak. Old school favorites and brand new instant favorites. Fish sandwich, Oysters,Daily Catch, Epic Lobster Roll, and a crab tostada you will dream about. Until it demands a return trip. Finish off with a soft serve sundae or the perfect key lime pie. Bring the kiddos. Wear your flip flops. But expect food as good as anywhere downtown. It has a very small menu, and nothing at all caught my eye. I ended up with a fried fish sandwich with fries. The fish was exceptionally thin and small. This was a fun dining experience. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. We were asked by many staff if everything was ok Chef Jason Stanhope shows true love for the food and menu that he crafts. The ceviche wraps a very unique and perky taste with melon and leche de Tigre--a Peruvian inspired ceviche. The creamed corn under the red snapper was delightful. My favorite part of the meal was the fish collar tacos. They had a nice char singe to them with excellent flavor and a decent amount of meat. But the pico de gallo was the kicker. Also, the middlins rice with benne seeds enveloped a flavor I've never had in a simple rice dish before. The walnut cookie was a great finisher to a delicious meal. Started out the New Year with brunch before the Polar Plunge. I initially wanted the Warm Buttered Lobster Roll, but I asked the server if it had mayo on it and he said yes so I opt'd for the Al Pastor Fish Tacos. They were good, but hard to eat as the shells kept falling apart. My friend ordered the Lobster Roll, and I was disappointed to find out it did not have any mayo it and I would have enjoyed it. We always like to sit at the bar and as usual, we got some great conversation and service from our bartender bartenders Zach and Cheyenne!!!! The food: we had the hamburger and the lobster roll, also known as "ghetto surf and turf"... Both were good tasting and wonderful just the right amount of bun to beef and lobster ratio on both!!! Cocktail's: Made us the perfect shaken martini with three olives... Just the way we like it and then straight out of Compton...Cheyenne made us the most incredible old-fashioned... My visit to Fish Camp was amazing! Great food and great service! My friend made reservations, and I got to visit. With a snafu from ordering and the kitchen getting the order electronically, we were compensated well for the late food. The restaurant manager Cheyenne took good care of us and was very apologetic. I ordered the seafood boil, and I got an appetizer with small crab claw bites. Both were wonderful and full of flavor. I had one of the best key lime pies ever. Had a great bold flavor unlike many that are so mild. The menu had some great seafood options that seemed different than what you often find at a seafood restaurant. Ex. I had offered to pay cash, but they said it was for "resy" (?)--we were walk-ins, so they did remove that. But then, they WANTED us to pay by credit? Weird. an extra beer that we never drank (spotted afterward, too late) The following night, we paid 1/3 LESS in downtown Charleston for way better food. Lesson learned. My parents, who I miss dearly, listed Sullivan's Fish Camp as their very favorite restaurant whenever they visited IOP with friends. So when I was vacationing recently, I made sure to make reservations for dinner one night. Inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and feels upscale casual and happy. Everyone we interacted with, from hostess to servers, were super friendly and helpful. I selected the Fish & Chips, and they were without a doubt the best I've ever had. A large fillet, with the lightest breading. My friend has Celiac and chose the Rainbow bowl, with a side of greens. Our server was so helpful in helping figure out the various gluten free options. Oh my, where food is an art form of delicious! I don't often write reviews but I wanted to share my recent experience at Sullivan's Fish Camp. My family planned dinner while vacationing and what a treat. I have to give kudos to our host for dinner. Isabella, you were magnificent! You answered questions and shared suggestions, explaining dish preparation and gained knowledge of food allergies. We had the hush puppies and the watermelon for starters. I cannot attest to the hush puppies but the watermelon was as delicious as it was beautiful. Yellow and red, both sweet and flavorful explosion with the lime and honey, fresh mint, basil and sprinkle of seasoning I can't remember the name of but my taste buds will never forget! Next came my entree, the fish and grits. The fresh catch was tile fish. If you like a mild fish, then you would enjoy. Wonderfully prepared over stone ground grits topped with zucchini, yellow squash and purple radish. Delectable! To finish, I watched my family enjoy the soft serve ice cream in the sugar cone. While we had a very nice young waitress that was fast, communicative, the food was very disappointing for the price tag. The fish and shrimp combo was very bland and had nothing special. The special was ok but nothing worth the visit. Kids did not enjoy their meals (chicken was spicy and cheeseburger overcooked). On top of that we sat by the window which had lots of dead flies and one bug that looked like a beetle started crawling by my kids which were scared by it. Parking a little scarce Waiter new to restaurant, but a real nice guy, but that did not make up for intermit lapses. Ambiance was ok as the staff tried to appease us There was not a smooth delivery of food as entree was on heels of appetizer and salads and only 3 entrees out of 4 made it and at once, waited for the 4th too long to start eating. I wish I had taken pictures of what was supposed to be a beet salad. It wasn't anything like the picture (that I looked up on their website after). I feel as though Cracker Barrel would've done a better job. The entire plate was orange and looked like a diner plate from a cliche movie, orange beets topped with oranges that were dry, and then orange rinds. The food is overpriced ($45 for a lobster roll with potato chips???). The wine by the glass list was minimal. The whole experience gave me the impression that something is off in the kitchen, plates were sloppy, food was subpar (they subbed broccoli for the okra in the lowcountry boil??), the fries weren't even salted, overall not impressed. Came after work, with a friend. We were seated immediately. Host staff were wonderful. Decor is casual and nice. Tables were comfortable and our waiter was great. Our food was very good - hummus and sourdough, lobster bisque and scallops. It was expensive - which is why I'm giving four stars. I'd give 4.5 if I could. I paid $34 for three scallops. This place is literally for tourists. Overpriced for subpar food. We went at the height of summer.. in July and paid 260 dollars before tip for 7 adults and two small children. The Staff were very kind however and constantly checked on us. We didn't complain about the quality of the food but these days you can tell most stuff is frozen and not fresh. We asked where their food comes from, found out they order a lot from other seaside States. Like Florida. So I guess it is frozen. The Coleslaw was terrible. None of us could eat it. The rest wasn't terrible but it wasn't awe inspiring either. I'm very picky and I know this about myself. My son is literally a food snob. He could be a professional food critic.. lol. The Place was decorated nice. A lot of natural light, good seating. Very busy with tourists. We enjoyed our time spent there but it did take us a very long time. Of course we had a large group.
