I really wanted to like this place, but the experience fell short overall. The biggest issue was the service--it was extremely slow. There was only one waitress handling everything during lunch: hosting, bartending, and serving. While she was doing her best, it clearly wasn't enough to keep up. At one point, I literally watched two couples get up and leave because it took so long for her to even greet them and take a drink order. As for the food, it was a mixed bag. The grilled oysters were absolutely amazing--easily the highlight of the meal and the one thing that stood out in a positive way. Unfortunately, the fried rice was disappointing. It was overcooked and the portion size was smaller than expected. Between the slow service and inconsistent food, it just didn't live up to expectations. We were in the mood for some sushi & fresh seafood and decided to check out The Longboard Restaurant located on Sullivan's Island. It was around four in the afternoon and to our delight they serve lunch until 5pm and also had Happy Hour specials. It is absolutely gorgeous in here. A beautiful space with coastal decor. Ideal for large groups & holiday makers. I strongly suggest making a booking in high season. I've seen the lines down the street in the height of summer. The dishes were absolutely delicious fresh & beautifully presented. Saylor was our server and she was attentive without being obtrusive, knowledgeable & helpful with the menu. Loved lunch at The Londboard! Came here with friends for Memorial Day at Sullivan's Island: loved everything! The restaurant is perfectly airy and gives island vibes (for good reason--they have a restaurant on St. Thomas as well!) I thought the teal longboard hanging above the bar was really cool! For drinks, I got a frozen painkiller, while my friends got wadma-law-breakers for Happy Hour ($10 per cocktail!) It was also Oyster Hour, so we got 1/2 dozen Charleston oysters for $12--so delicious we ordered a second batch! We also got the crispy calamari--perfectly crispy and tasty! For actual meals, my friends got salads. I got veggie, fish, and shrimp tacos--all freshly made and very good. I would come here again. I walked to the beach with a full belly and high spirits. Went here with my family of 5 the night I moved in to Charleston! It is in such a cute spot on Sullivans island, walking distance to the beach and an ice cream shop and has the CUTEST coastal beachy vibe inside that was perfect after just moving to the beach. Our service was great, everyone was very friendly and helpful! She had great drinks recommendations and I loved my cocktail. The most disappointing aspect of this place was the food. We ordered a good amount of different things and everyone tried each others. The resounding response from everything we tried was that it was so SALTY. There were multiple items we couldn't even eat due to the salt. I can't remember the last time we had inedible food due to salt. On top of that, I do believe the food prices are very overpriced for the taste as well as the pretty tiny portions you receive. Because of this, I don't think we will be back to eat here. However, I do think this is a great spot to grab a few drinks! Great vibes and super fun looking cocktails. I will be back for drinks for sure. LOVE a Longboard happy hour! I live nearby and always take all of my guests here because the cocktails are so fantastic. I personally love their Heart & Sol which is a pineapple-serrano infused reposado tequila cocktail, but lately I have also been loving the Smoke Signal, a bourbon and mezcal concoction with spiced honey and bitters. At first, the server accidentally brought me the crab salad, which I sent back because I ordered the crab rolls. The crab salad looked AMAZING - huge chunks of crab mixed with avocado! Wow! The drinks and appetizer were fine but the fish sliders were cold. She did forget my drink so I had to remind her. The biggest issue was getting our food. One table received the food a little past an hour which was fine. The server apologized. Our second table got the food after 2 hours. The first table was done the time the second table got the food. They gave a free dessert to the first table. They need to change the name of the restaurant Longwait. The tacos were about 7/10. The sliders 3/10. The fish sandwich 7/10. I didn't try the fish and chips but it looked good. The restaurant has a beautiful view especially at sunset. My husband and I were staying about an hour away, but have heard so much about The Longboard Restaurant we made a reservation and made the drive from Kiawah to Sullivan Island. We are so glad we did. We started by sharing the Street Corn Salad and it was amazing! It has just the right amount of kick and the arugula was the perfect texture and flavor to compliment the other ingredients. Next we had 12 grilled oysters and they are the best we have ever eaten. For our entrees, my husband had the Berkwood Farms Bone-In Pork Chop and I had the catch of the day, which was swordfish. I love swordfish, but there is a perfection that most chefs never get right- if too undercooked- yuck, and if overcooked- even more yuck! Chef Michael has the Midas touch and it was perfect!! The carrots for the side and sushi rice was the La pièce de résistance to make the most scrumptious meal.
