I came in for lunch with my boyfriend, sister, and her fiance. We were seated outside which was nice but it was quite a hot day so I was not loving it outside (very cute porch seating though!) Our waiter was prompt and kind. We had the hushpuppies, fish and chips, and the crab fried rice. Everything was absolutely phenomenal and came out hot/fresh. The fries were crazy good with the malt vinegar powder. Great flavor and nice proportions to where we were satsified but not left tired while we roamed around afterwards.

Great seafood but our waitress could be more friendlier. Otherwise, it would have been a greater experience! Clean fresh flavorful oysters and the best escabeche octopus I've had in a long time! Awesome ambience in slate grays & blues with vintage white background!

Stopped in for our final night in Charleston. We had a reservation so we were quickly sat. Staff were friendly and menu is short but packed with great options. We decided on the New Bedford scallops and crispy fish platter. Both delicious, I can never say no to scallops. For dessert we tried the flan which was topped with Granny Smith apples - the apples were an interesting texture to have with the flan but the flan instead were tasty. Overall a great meal to end of Charleston adventure!

This is the kind of restaurant that feels warm, inviting, and comfortable without tipping into anything frumpy. I didn't dine in the main space; instead, I grabbed a seat at the front bar, which was perfect for a quick snack. The porch also looked charming, but I wanted to stay inside. Service was gracious and easy, striking just the right note. The food shines, especially the grilled oysters. They're the clear standout, drenched in an exceptional butter that's rich, savory, and deeply satisfying. The hush puppies were flavored beautifully, with a creative touch I couldn't quite place but really enjoyed. The only drawback was the texture. I'm used to something more mealy, and these leaned cake-like, as if flour and eggs had joined the mix. Still, they were savory and buttery in all the right ways, and the sauce was excellent. I also ordered a Caesar salad. The croutons were perfect, but the dressing had a bit too much citrus and felt slightly heavy. Overall, it's an easy place to enjoy well-executed seafood, thoughtful flavors, and genuinely kind service, especially when you're in the mood for a relaxed stop at the bar. I LOVE that they had N/A options at bar.

Charming restaurant next door to the Marriott Courtyard. Stopped in for a drink and some oysters before dinner as I had just got in town. Server was quite friendly. Ambiance is quaint and quiet. Food was excellent- highly recommended

I was in town spontaneously for the day to check out Craig from Southern Charm's pillow shop Sewing Down South. I was so impressed by his store that I felt inspired by Charleston. I had a craving for some Oysters and a martini extra * read with British accent* DIRTY....with some lovely bleu cheese olives. We parked nearby in an hourly parking lot and made the short walk to the lovely Delaney Oyster house. I actually found it on Yelp from the review section. It did not disappoint. From the moment my 9 year old son and I arrived and opened the door into the restaurant the staff was warm and welcoming with smiles as if they knew us. We opted to sit outside on the patio. Our server was Sara who was wonderful. She tourguided us thru the menu and gave her recommendations. I had never tried caviar and she gave me a recommendation for oysters with caviar which were truly the best 2 set of Oysters I EVER had. That's right round #2 Hurricane Erin was in town (Me, my name is Erin) It literally melted in my mouth with all of the flavorings. I also opted for another oyster she recommended. My son went with the peel and eat shrimp which were the most massive shrimps we had ever seen. Highly, highly recommend!!! On all fronts. They also did mention they were moving soon to a larger location. Can't wait to visit again next time we are in town. Charleston is a charming city that is very easy to fall in love with despite the summer humidity. Charleston was like a little friendly, polite Vegas in terms of there was WAY more to do than I expected. We went and got some delicious ice cream and walked in the park after our light, fresh seafood dinner.

We've enjoyed Delaney Oyster House over the years, and always had a great experience. We were downtown during Christmas week for a night out, and decided to stop by. We just wanted a cocktail and snack, so we sat at the bar. The bar had open seats, and we ordered our favorite cocktails. The bartender was friendly and engaging from the start, and made us feel welcome. I enjoyed the Last Word, and my husband had an Old Fashioned. The food menu is all seafood, and offers so many great choices. There are chilled and roasted oysters, shellfish and finfish starters, caviar, and then several entree options. We went simple and ordered the lobster roll and asked for fries instead of chips. The lobster roll was perfect, served cold and with all lobster. Then the long crispy fries were served hot, and salted just right. The mood inside was quiet, but lively with other couples enjoying their meals. We appreciated the service by all, as they each greeted us and politely checked on us. Delaney Oyster House is a great Charleston seafood restaurant, and we will return.

What an amazing meal at Delaney Oyster House! My family had our last meal of our Charleston vacation here and we couldn't have asked for a better place. The ambiance is cozy and warm inside a renovated historical home. We were seated outside on the covered patio with heaters and were toasty on a cold November day. The service was excellent, the food came quick and hot. The oysters were fresh and delicious, my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our oyster shooters. The tuna tartare serving was slightly small, but the shrimp ajillo stole the show. We had to order more bread to dip in the delicious garlic sauce! If you're looking for quality seafood and cozy vibes, this is the place.

This was an overall fantastic experience. You walk up to the quintessential Charleston home and there's a beautifully decorated quaint restaurant. The staff was super wonderful- friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We started with tuna tartare and a dozen oysters. The SC oysters were briny and delicious. The tuna tartare, spot on. It was small but seasoned fantastically. We had the market fish which was Black Grouper- outrageous and cooked to perfection. The scallops melted in your mouth and ceaser salad with spicy shrimp which had a great kick to them. Ladies, if you're someone who appreciates nice decor and a clean cute restroom, don't forget to take a look. There are so many great places to eat in Charleston so we keep our expectations low. The Delaney Oyster House exceeded our every expectation and will definitely be a place we bring visiting friends and family to, as well as, a place we frequent regularly!

    Shrimp and grits

Came here early Saturday for brunch. The decor was simple and homey, but very bright and clean. I tried the hushpuppies first and it was decent, though a little dry. The butter did help out the hushpuppies. The shrimp and grits were definite the highlight of the brunch. The grits were creamy and flavorful. The offering had a good amount of shrimp and they were cooked nicely...not overcooked. The chorizo provided some nice background heat. The mint condition drink was refreshing and great to start the day with. Plus it balanced the heavier main dish. Service was friendly, but perhaps a little forgetful. I wasn't really checked on, even though there was almost virtually no other customers at the restaurant yet. Since I stayed at the hotel the restaurant is attached to, I reminded the server of my stay, since guests can get a discount. I did not receive the discount on my bill. Yes, I could've squabbled over, literally, a few dollars, but decided to let it go. Good place, overall. (900 Reviews???)

The perfect after 10k celebration!! We did not have a reservation but the staff was very accommodating and we were sat immediately.. It was such a cute house that they turned into a very modern restaurant! The butter with hush puppies was top tier! And the oysters - chefs kiss - all smooth and creamy!! I've wanted to come here for the last 5 years.. Walking by each time we completed the run.. Today it was meant to be!!

We had such a great time here! We went for Sunday brunch and enjoyed cocktails, good service, and great food! The espresso martini may be one of the best ones in Charleston, the shrimp and grits were awesome, and you can't skip out on the salt and vinegar fries with Lemon Aioli. We will definitely be going back to this charming little eatery!

Appetizers/shareable- We shared the calamari and French fries. The calamari was good! It came with an aïoli dipping sauce that was delicious. The French fries were comparable to any other restaurant fries. Nothing special. Main entrees- we each had a bite off of each other's entree/shareable to sample. Swordfish sandwich- flavor was there, battering was thin coated and gave off a nice crunch. Ceviche tacos- had a nutty Asian flavor to it. Came in 3 little bite sized taco like chips. Miss Paula grilled shrimp- shrimp in a curry Thai like oil served with 5 toasted baguette slivers. If you're into Thai red curry, I'd recommend this. They advertised the shrimp is locally caught. Oysters- nothing too exciting. Kitchen service- The reason behind the 0/5 for the kitchen service is because they messed up our order so many times. They missed two of our orders and didn't make them until we said something. Instead of getting our side salads we kept getting fries. We got double of things we hadn't ordered. From the moment the first person got served their food, there was a 40 minute gap in between the serving of the last person. Our foods weren't served together so we had some girls having to wait to eat. Even then, our last girl got her food to go because we also had another rsvp to be at. We spent about 3 hours on the rooftop total when they were so adamant on having a reservation. We expected to be here for only an hour so we could spend more time exploring downtown but couldn't do that due to the speed of the kitchen service.

We arrived for dinner with our 2-year-old. The tone was set immediately by our server, who was visibly annoyed when I didn't respond to his greeting fast enough because I was tending to my toddler. Rather than reading the situation with any empathy, he sharply said "Hi, miss" in a way that made it clear he expected immediate attention. Not a great start. Things only went downhill from there. My husband had to briefly step away to take a work call, and instead of accommodating the situation in any reasonable way, the server dropped water and bluntly said he'd return "when your husband is back"--effectively refusing to engage with me at all. Trying to make the best of it, I decided to feed my child first. After waiting quite a while with no assistance, I had to flag someone down--who turned out to be the manager. What followed was honestly the most appalling part of the evening. I asked if they could simply warm up my child's food. Not only did she refuse, she told me I could not feed my child in the restaurant. No alternatives offered. No attempt at accommodation. No offer for a kid friendly food item, or no offer to feed her in the hotel lobby. Her "solution" was that I should leave the restaurant and go find some outdoor space nearby to feed my toddler. To make matters worse, she added that "service will start at 6:15 sharp," essentially implying I should figure it out and be back on their timeline. The complete lack of empathy, flexibility, or basic hospitality was astonishing. I have never encountered such dismissive and hostile behavior toward a family with a young child--especially at a supposedly high-end establishment. Mind you we have been to plenty of restaurants including 3 Michelin stars. If you're dining with a child--or frankly, if you expect to be treated with basic respect--I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.
