No longer a good place to eat. Have had breakfast many times here over the years and it has been excellent. The reviews are still positive, so I stopped for breakfast. It was on a Wednesday morning and it wasn't busy when I arrived. I ordered the avacado omlette and it came out fast, perhaps too fast. The hashbrowns were cold and raw on the inside with barely any crispy shell. The onions in my omlette were raw, while the eggs were overdone. Avacados were bruised and brown. Toast was toast and with jam was tolerable. The meal didn't match the reviews and pictures I had seen. Server never checked and by the time I started eating there was a line at the counter. I was hungry and didn't want to wait, so I ate what I could and spent the rest of my time in the restaurant writing this review. We stopped in to buy some pastries. Since it was late in the day there were only cookies left. That was fine, they were large and they looked good. The employee crammed 6 large chocolate chip cookies into a tiny little white bag. My husband asked if she would put them in a box. The employee started to go get the box then stopped and said "no I don't think I can do that, we need to save these boxes for donuts tomorrow morning." We were really surprised by this because these cookies were large and crammed into this very small bag and the oil/grease was seeping out. The main reason we wanted a box was because we were traveling and still had an hour left to go on our trip. Wow, I sure was not impressed with my Florentine omelette. The "Swiss cheese" was fake, the mushrooms were canned, and in the massive omelet there were maybe 5 pieces of Spinach. The hash browns were mostly raw and not cooked. But... I will say the white bread they make is just great. This restaurant was a big letdown. More food is not always better. Super affordable and we were able to make Texas toast and sandwiches for days. Very popular place. Cute small bakery. We came here after a good long hike up Wallace Falls. They have a wide selection of sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, American plates, and desserts of course! You can build your own sandwiches. Half sandwiches are only $4ish and whole sandwiches are about $7ish. You can also pair them with soups for more of a deal. They even have their own interpretations of banh mi and philly cheesesteak. I got an egg salad sandwich on their homemade Dutch crust bread. The egg salad was way too drenched in mayo and was very messy. I didn't care for this filling, but the bread was amazing, huge and fluffy. My sandwich was ginormous and served with chips. My bf got the philly. Though he said it was not authentic, it was very good. Served woth crinkle cut fries. Their desserts looked fantastic. I wish I had room to try theor Nainamo bar but I knew it'd probably be too sweet and we already got the chocolate twist and buttermilk bar. Very sweet. Oh, and coffee is cheap and free refills. And you can't help but think what an awful shame it was, what happened to that poor Palmer girl. So Sultan is on the way to Stevens Pass, as you probably already knew. Regardless of whether you and Special Agent Cooper come here for pie, it feels like a proper mountain highway town. It has that roadhouse feel. There are doors at both ends, and some angle-in parking. The ceilings are low, and the light fixtures could knock a ten-gallon off a stretch ranch hand. One whole wall is bakery cases. Pies, pastries, doughnuts, everything you need to start the day down at the precinct or finish a special occasion dinner. And all good. You order at the counter, and you choose from soups and sandwiches. You don't need anything else. You might think you need something else. You don't. Relax and have a soup and a sandwich. You'll be very glad you did. You'll lapse into a state of pre-adult security and contentment once you do. I had the split pea soup. It fell slightly short of being spectacularly home style since it wasn't cooked bone-in with ham marrow stock, but it was an awesomely dense and savory herbal stock. The turkey cranberry sandwich was spectacular, served on white bread so big and fluffy that grains of wheat that don't get picked for the flour feel bad about themselves, resenting the grains that get picked for filling out their husks more buxomly than they do. I'm no fan of plain white bread but this was awesome. All the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. You have to tell her to add the tip. Don't forget to do that. They're too nice to say anything your first time, but there's no tip line on the credit card receipt. The coffee is Stewart Brothers, available along a sideboard, to go or for here. They give you a number to take to your table and you wait for your food. It's so, so, so good. And it came out, for my order, in literally under two minutes. They keep the soup at temp, so they just bang the sandwich together and out scurries the lady from behind the counter. I love places like this. Coffee shops. Community gathering places. Good prices. I will start with a positive - they are real friendly - always a good way to start. Waitress was very nice as was the people greeting us. Next - I saw the menu board and was excited to see the Reuben - Pastrami, Sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing on rye bread. Other than corn beef - it was perfectly laid out - not something I see a lot in the NW - usually they do not understand what a Reuben Sandwich is made from. I started eating it and it definitely had issues. I felt the meat was "pressed" but why would that be - well after I ate - and did not enjoy - most of the sandwich - I asked the waitress. It is NOT Pastrami as I know it - it is made from turkey meat - thus pressed. Really was bad. I asked the owners son and he said apparently I do not realize how much real Pastrami is and they are just trying to save money - huh - makes me wonder what else they are hiding to save money. To me - either charge enough to make a profit or eliminate it from the menu. They also had no apology and said possibly if I did not eat over 1/2 of it (which I did) they could have done something. Now - realize they are a bakery - you would think they would say we are sorry and perhaps give me a cookie. Nope - just more griping about how they need to make money - true - but don't hide what you are doing to make it - if it would have said "Turkey Pastrami" - I would never have purchased it. My wife had the French dip and she was happy with it - my second choice - but I fell for their real low quality Reuben. We will not come back since I have a concern with the products they are offering and to what extent they would go to save money on costs. You have seen 1, you have seen 100. After having a lunch here I can say that it has some of the best food I have ever had. During my dining experience I had the salmon BLT. The salmon was fresh and flavorful. The bacon was cooked just right; the bun had the perfect spongyness consistency. (yes spongyness. I LOVE this place!! LOVE LOVE! I have only been twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Both are great but in my opinion breakfast is where Sultan Bakery really shines... it's huge, cheap and delicious! I like that they write the menu on white boards each day, so there is always something new. Come lunch time they take the boards down and put up the lunch menus. The gals behind the counter are super sweet and friendly. The waitresses are great too. In the summer the joint gets packed and it's hard to find seating, but there is a big outside area too. If you're not in the mood for a meal they have a ton of dessert to choose from too. Def worth the trip into Sultan. I come from Snohomish and never regret the drive! read more

Unfortunately for us, we opted for lighter fare and went with pastries/doughnuts. The selection of such wasn't impressive and the taste was less so. Coffee wasn't great either (choice of Farmers Bros or Starbucks in canisters). If that was all this place had to offer, I may have given them two stars. However, the huge breakfast plates coming out of the kitchen looked really good. And people were obviously enjoying their breakfasts. I got some food to go this afternoon. Kind of a late lunch for me and my fiance. I got a cheeseburger and he got a reuben. My burger was very overcooked. One side was actually burned around the edge to the point that I couldn't finish it. The bun and stuff on the burger was good but hardly made up for the overcooking of the meat. The fries in both of our meals were overcooked as well. They were dark, dry and lacked any salt. I had to add my own. His reuben was alright. He remarked that he would have liked it to be on rye bread and that it needed more thousand island dressing. The pastrami was okay, just a little thicker than he likes it. The wait was reasonable, only 10-15 minutes. I will probably try again and see if it is better next time! read more
