The place is what you expect. Small diner feels. It's cozy and has its charm. It's neat and tidy and a wide open space. You're not bumping into anyone trying to get out of your seat. The staff are sweet and kind. And the food, this is one of the best breakfast spots I've ever been to in my life apart from Ludi's in Seattle. The food is special. I ordered the Big Chief and it was phenomenal. The gravy was of something else my partner describes it as a cheesy béchamel. It was delicious. And the cinnamon roll. Are you kidding me!!! Oh I wish I had one in front of me right now. The cinnamon roll bread was so fresh and baked to perfection where it had this chewy middle. Trust me it was properly baked. And the icing is everything. They laid it on heavy and I thought damn that's going to be over powering however it was so light, airy, buttery and not too sweet. I don't know who's cooking back there but just know it's been two months and I still talk about this place. I thought I would be going back for the cabin. No, I'll be going back for this. Only have been here a couple of times. First time, the service and food were slow but it's actually ok by us. We just viewed it like maybe they are training new hires the younger waitress seemed to lack experience. The restaurant business is tough especially in a smaller town off highway 2. We are willing to be patient...Why? We LOVE the AWESOME food and BIG portions! We couldn't resist and came back in 2 days. The service and food were quicker and still equally amazing. But it's worth the wait!! If they sometimes forget to fill up our coffee cup, we just mention it and they jumped on it. For one waitress and one assistant running the show, we were quite impressed! The food: The omelettes are the chubbiest and packed and made with care. Every bite was piping hot we enjoyed it so much! Even though they use some frozen veg, it was still delish and we liked the cauliflower in there it was a neat mild flavor and texture. The hashbrowns are plentiful and the perfect consistency maybe slightly thicker would be my only critique. I personally like lots of fluffiness inside the crispy outside. Still good. We left feeling very full and happy. The coffee is hot and fresh tasting. When it's nice outside, you get a lovely view of the mountains and trees. Even though we are from Monroe, it felt like being on vacation somewhere far far away. We saw this big table of people with lunch items and they looked amazing too. Heaping piles. They have a diner counter area by the kitchen. The main dining is one open area with lots of booth seating. We thought they can totally fit more tables and add some partitions to offer more privacy. This restaurant is still amazing! I remember coming here as a kid every other weekend. My mom and I would always order the French dips. Today, my husband and I stopped in there after a day of boarding. He got the chili burger, I got the French dip. They were so good! The French dip is great, really tender beef. But the chili! Man, that was good and it does have quite the kick to it. I will definitely be back for that chili. It will warm you right up and clear your sinuses. Lol. Really fantastic! This evening I had the misfortune of giving this establishment a second chance. My order lacked the added bacon I ordered. My wife ordered a rare steak sandwich dip with aujus on the side. She got a medium well steak served open faced on a partially baked, slender, moist sandwich loaf. This diner is so cozy and feels like home! The staff is extremely nice, and very attentive. They made us feel so welcomed as well. The food... oh gosh the food was amazing! We ate here twice on our weekend stay and tried a few items and all were delicious and the portions were way bigger than I could have eaten! Will definitely be going back if we go through town or stay again!! For those with little kids in high chairs... The only downside was there is only one high chair available so the second time we went it was being used and we had to hold our little one until it became available. me and the wife thought we would go out for a nice relaxing breakfast. They did not have a couple items on the menu because they were under new ownership. What made us get up and leave was the tension in the room. it was cold rigid and hasty. Ive always felt bad about not giving them a chance but the phone call I just made to ask about the menu was the same. I want this place to be a success. But please, fix your atmosphere. Stopped at this place on our way to Leavenworth. It was on the side of the road and we said- why not? We got there 1 hour before closing and they were very nice and very quick. The food was amazing and the steak tasted so fresh and juicy! The chef even asked for my opinion about the steak if I was willing to share. (It was the best I've had in a while) Waitress was really sweet and the entire experience was one we will remember. I visited the Mountain View Diner early on a Sunday morning before a long day of hiking in the mountains. It is an old school diner feel with booths and bar top seating. There is a revolving pie/dessert carousel in the middle of the diner filled with delicious looking pies, cinnamon rolls, and cakes. With all that said it was a great atmosphere, especially on a rainy northwest morning. I had the rather large 8 egg "Stuff Yer Belly Omelette" with hash browns/toast and a side of pancakes. Sadly I did not get a photo of the food but I can report it was all absolutely delicious! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My coffee cup never reached the bottom and I never had to really wait long for anything. All in all it was a great experience and a perfect way to start off or end a day of outdoor activity in the area. I highly recommend, and I will most certainly be back. read more

I am sorry for this review. We were looking forward to a special lunch but were very disappointed. We ordered the hot roast beef sand on egg bread. The egg bread was so hard we couldn't cut it with a knife. The mashed potatoes were cold. The server never came back to check on us. When I finally got her attention and told her the problem she related it to the kitchen. Their response was we microvave it and thats how it is. The server said what do you want me to do? She finally decided to give us 50% off. I definitely will not recommend it. The cheesecake was not very good either. Blackberry pie was ok. read more

Went looking for a place to eat after some long camping on the Skykomish. After coming into Goldbar, we found the Mountain View Diner. Here you will find good ole fashioned diner food at its best. The breakfasts and omelettes are fantastic and very filling. Their chicken fried steak and country gravy are delish as well. They do have a more extensive menu but the breakfasts are an end all. Their cinnamon rolls are gigantic and could easily be a meal all to themselves. Typically with many other pie selections as well you can get your sweet tooth on without issue. If you ever find yourself out here, you will need to make sure to plan a meal or two here for sure. read more

Eggs were cooked nice bacon was delicious and I would definitely suggest. Crunchy bacon but not like eating a cracker. Sausage was not so special. Also the hash browns needs seasoning of any kind, and need to be cooked a little crispier. Scratch that a lot crispier. -chicken fried steak was very good. Good price and great portion. Same issue as the other meal, hash browns need to be revamped and some love needs to be put into them. -chocolate mousse cake was good but had the potential to be great. The moose itself was a perfect texture and consistency and the sweetness was just on point. The crust on the other hand was just dull and boring. Very good food and great pies! Been here a few times and it's consistently good food and service. Last time we stopped, we got their late in the day and they were closing in just a few minutes. They had us sit down and were incredibly friendly (I thought they would want to get out of there to close, clean up and go home. We did order easy food that would not create much more clean up and get them out late. It was kind that they were so personable when I'm sure they would have liked to have gone home (it was a super slow day they said).
