I've written a review for this place before but it's been awhile so I figured I'd write another. Last review I scored them as a 2 or 3 because their staff was nasty and snippy (a common theme in the Sultan area). This time I went a few weeks ago and was happy to see there was new staff and they all had face masks on and were polite and helpful. I was a little annoyed that they wouldn't let me customize my breakfast burrito (my nephew won't eat mushrooms), they said it was too busy for customizations. That's the main reason for the 1-star review, even flipping McDonald's let's you customize your food. The staff is nicer than before, but still exceptionally bad at multi-tasking and prioritizing. My hot food order came over 10 minutes later than people who ordered after me. The food itself is exceptional. I got big breakfast burritos cause I knew my 15-year old nephew would be impressed with the massive size of them. Those things are the size of a dinner plate, they're huge, easily 3 meals in one burrito. I also go here to get specialty cheesecake slices to gift for birthdays. I dislike cheesecake but the people I've given them to have always had nothing but praise for them. I've tried to order a whole cake but it's apparently the sort of bakery that's more like a diner than a bakery because you can't order a whole cake. Their donuts are also quite good. My neighbors talk endlessly about their delicious sandwiches and inexpensive but large dinner meal portions. The biggest downside to this place (and I did not reduce their rating for this) is the clientele. It's a very popular right-off-the-highway stop for people taking HWY2 East for skiing/camping/hiking/etc. At the best of times it's packed, at the worst the line extends outside the door. Since COVID, the travelers seem to have gotten way ruder. Unmasked children running around like ruffians screaming at each other, rude people pushing and refusing to socially distance. But the worst thing I saw in my 25 minutes waiting for my non-customizable burritos was the behavior of mostly non-locals with mask. For some stupid random reason, 15/18 of the people I saw in that time all did the same thing. They wore masks right up to the counter and then would pull their masks down to order. I think it's incredibly disrespectful and rude to the staff there to have constant unmasked faces pushed into their own faces. These people are taking a risk working in a very heavily customer facing industry during the pandemic, the absolute least customers could do is not make a point of breathing directly into the staffs' faces. The owner needs to make more of an effort to enforce the mask regulations to protect their own staff from danger. Aside from the non-customization issue, the only other reason I give this place 4-stars instead of 5 is that the display cases, counters, walls, and floors are grimy and dirty looking. Clearly they have more than enough customers and don't feel a need to upgrade or improve their facility, but it's still gross and does give me pause when I think about eating there. I suppose the wait time after ordering also plays into the lower score. I was told no customization for the big burritos because the filling is already cooked/prepared in advance during busy times. So I don't really get why it took 25 minutes to put an already prepared scramble into a tortilla. read more

Baked goods bring you in, but I so recommend trying their meals. A friend recommended this place to us, and I've driven past a bazillion times without ever stopping. I'm so glad we did! Upon arrival, we saw the bakery cases chock full of cookies, pastries and cakes -- but posted all over the wall are the many sandwiches, burgers and food selections. I ordered the prime rib dip and my boyfriend ordered the super burger. They brought it to our table, and we were impressed with the portions. His burger was HUGE, and my dip was massive, too. Plenty of fries rounded out the plate! I took a dip then a bite out of my sandwich and was greeted by a delight of flavors and textures. Real Swiss Cheese with holes and everything! An amazing French roll that was soft but not gooey and tender Prime Rib that almost melted in the mouth! Dipped in au jus that had the perfect amount of salt. A couple sitting across from us ordered a sandwich that put Dagwood's to shame! It was so big they had to split it. *Note for next time! If you're not a local you're likely flying through Sultan on your way to your final destination. Every time we're driving by, no matter the time of day, the teeny tiny parking lot of Sultan's Bakery is ALWAYS packed. Heading to Leavenworth from Bremerton I intentionally built time in to our trip to ensure we'd be able to stop for breakfast. It's a long drive and it was early, we arrived bellies grumbling. Ended up standing in line for about 10 minutes (not too bad) before reaching the counter and all the tables inside were full. Being that this is a bit of a divy spot one would think breakfast would be served all day - you'd be WRONG - and I was thoroughly disappointed we'd missed breakfast by 30 minutes. What was left was pre-made breakfast burritos under the heat lamp and anything left in the pastry counter. Sad day. The good news is we were able to try an assortment of the massive sized pastries and donuts taking the order to go and getting back on the road sooner than anticipated. We tried the apple cinnamon cup based on yelp reviews, a buttermilk bar, a classic twist, a cinnamon roll, and against my better judgement a peanut butter dessert bar thing. Everything was just okay in my opinion, but certainly still good. Can't say it was worth the hype but I guess I won't know for sure until I can make it back for an actual meal. If you can get past the interior appearance, are starving and looking for an affordable over-sized sugar coma, you're in the right place. read more

Seeing high reviews of this place and heading over the mountains on a family road tr ip we started our trip with a breakfast stop at Sultan Bakery. We had a large order of food, none of which was very good, this looks like a good photo but the food wasn't great. A chopped up sausage patty, large chunks of ham, minced bacon and soft flavorless hashbrowns. We ordered the 3 meat breakfast combo to-go and realized they down the road they forgot our toast. We also order the brakfast sandwich that was an even bigger disappointment, bread was cut way too thick making the sandwich big bites of bread. The coffee was weak weak weak, we had to stop at a gas station down the road to get a strong cup of coffee. They make a delicious doughnut. read more

Stopped here on our way to the state park, as the general store up the road didn't have anything exciting for a snack. Got their $2 burger with chips, and a tuna sandwich for take away, and here's my comments: - excellent burger, recommended! - chips looked and tasted like they had been refried several times, and there was no trace of potato when we had them. A huge disappointment, and a shameful practice. - tuna mix in the sandwich was mixed with sweet relish, even though we asked the staff when ordering to make sure there was specifically no sweet relish. First impression.....dirty..... it's cafeteria style, so you order and they bring you food, totally ok with that, very efficient. Floors looked like they had never been cleaned with a mop. Fake flowers on table had food hanging off it. Took 30 mins to get burgers. They came with a generous portion of potato chips. The burger was fresh hamburger, homemade patties and it was excellent! 1/2lb for $9.95, value was good. But..... the bathroom!!! Omg the bathroom!!! You have to go outside the building to get there.... if we thought the restaurant was dirty.... the bathrooms are even worse. Needless to say- this is a dive diner (probably not owned by locals) If you don't have any issue with cleanliness, this place is a great greasy spoon and greasy floor lol The food is good and the prices are good. This place has the absolute worst customer service as have encountered in Washington state. The ladies behind the counter were extremely unhelpful and rude assuming that you know what is on the menu even though you have never been there before just very short and snappy rushing people like get in and get your food and get out. I was utterly disappointed with this bakery. The older woman that is the waitress there however was amazing she was extremely nice and kind. The baked goods were delicious but the food was sub par, they don't even toast the breakfast sandwiches. Not a friendly spot for out of towners or people just passing through. This is small bakery on hwy 2 but do not judge the place by its look. The bakery may look small but their food is hearty. The place satisfies in three critical points, the portion, price, and taste. One single delicious breakfast meal is big enough to feed 2 under $15. They also have really good maple bar. If you have chance to stop by this place, you should check this place out. read more

Let me start by saying we didn't order a meal, which I think is where this place gets its notoriety. Keep that in mind. Stopped in after a day of snowboarding and was not disappointed! We ordered fish and chips & a thanksgiving dinner. The fish and chips were HOT, fresh out of the fryer. It was soooo good. Best fish and chips we've ever had. The thanksgiving dinner was exactly how you'd want it during the holiday. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & cranberry. MmmMmmMmm! We were told that they roast their own turkey and you could tell. It was so moist, so flavorful. We ordered pomegranate cheesecake and carrot cake to go. Both delicious. Their pastries get 4 or 5 star but we also ordered a roast beef sandwich and an open face turkey sandwich. Both were pretty bad 1 or max 2 star worthy. Roast beef sandwich was bland and completely cold with a cold slice of American cheese that was right out of the fridge so it actually crumbled and broke into pieces. If you ask, they'll get it for you, but everyone else just grabs their silverware, to-go boxes, ketchup etc, themselves. Act lke a regular, don't be bashful. Line up to place your order. Menus? Pla! You silly person, menus are for other restaurants. Look at the wall and the cardboard signs on the pastry case while you're in line. Tell her what you want, pay, go get a table, get your own coffee, and wait for your order. Oh, look! Here she comes with your gargantuan omelette, breakfast burrito, slash whatever it is that you ordered. Isnt that delicious? Why yes, as a matter of fact, it is. In fact, it's the best omelette you've had in a long time. And that apple muffin out of the pastry case that you're splitting with your friend, yes that one, the one full of apple deliciousness. What were you thinking, you should've bought 5 of them. So you feel like your eating in a shack that could blow down in a heavy wind, so going to the restroom is a adventure, the food is great! Staying in a cabin in Gold Bar, and were eagerly looking forward to some delicious baked goods from Sultan Bakery. Pulled up around 8:30 on Tuesday morning only to be met with a dark establishment. Everything online that we can find says they're open EVERY DAY. Around the corner of the building, leaning up against the side of the place, we happened to notice a sign that says "Closed Tuesdays Wednesdays". We sadly drive into Monroe instead. On the way back out...NOW the "Closed..." sign has been put out in front of the building. WTF?? Get your sh!t together, people. This is such a cute little place that we stumbled upon OTW to Stevens Pass to snowboard. It was Valentine's Day so it wasn't too crowded. The parking up front is limited & can get full easily. You walk up to the counter to order. Their menu is all handwritten so I think that attests to it being somewhat different depending on the day you go. They have pastries available on display - I mean - they are a bakery after all. I ordered the Avocado Omelette which has peppers, onions, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, avocado & it's served with hash brown with a choice between toast & an English Muffin. I opted for the English Muffin. Once you order, they give you a number & then you take your seat & wait for your food. One of the employees offered us some iced waters & also gave us our utensils. It seemed like a family run business from the looks & feel of it. I also ordered coffee- which is self served on the right side of the pastry display. 3 different roasts to choose from :) Our order came quick! And HOLY PORTIONS! - if you are hungry before you got here - you won't be hungry for the next 3 days leaving here. My omelette was drowning next to my hash browns & my English Muffins were buttered with some strawberry jam on the side. My omelette had a ton of peppers, like too much for my liking but you might like that. I was only able to eat a fraction of my omelette & hash browns because I was snacking on Larr's biscuit and gravy & OH-MAH-GAW! That stuff is...... soooooooooo yummers! OMG. Seriously. TRY IT, it won't disappoint. Once we got to-go boxes which were made available on top of one of the displays, we paid up front. Stopped in here for a late lunch after hiking Wallace Falls in Gold Bar. This place is VERY low key but offers so much in the way of food and dessert options. The menu is HUGE and the service was very friendly. You have the choice of sitting outside on their patio or inside. I split the 1/2# sirloin burger with my mom and after we finished, we were looking for the other half. It was AMAZINGLY great and I wish I knew I was that hungry. So sad when it was over. My Dad ordered a single pulled pork taco which was really pitiful. Even though there was plenty of food, the pork had zero flavor and the lettuce was very yellow and looked old. He was really disappointed. I'd stop here again because 1) I was too full to enjoy what looked like the most amazing desserts ever made and 2) It's cheap, tasty and locally owned. read more

I cant eat most of what they serve anymore based on my dietary restrictions but I oddly enough usually carry around my own condiments so toast worked!
