I have now been to Golden Spoon twice, though I didn't buy anything the second time. Last summer I went there for the first time. I went back recently, this summer. I had been trying to eat healthy and couldn't remember the selection from the time before, but had been hoping for some fat-free and low calorie options. I also had to drive and run a lot of errands afterward, so was hoping for a sort of shake or smoothie with fruit blended in. When I arrived, the attendant was helping another customer, so I had time to study the menu. I looked it over and realized again that the selection was rather small. I saw the same plain tart and salted caramel that I had chosen previously, but not much else, and no fat-free or low calorie options. Also, the shake selection was a bit decadent instead of the light yogurt and fruit blend I had hoped for. There were also prepackaged containers of sorbet and oreo cookie sandwiches in a freezer near the front. The toppings were neatly organized although the selection was simpler than others. The toppings were on the expensive side, costing $1.25 for mini and $2.25 for regular. The ratio skews heavily on the yogurt so I don't find the toppings to be worth the extra cost. *Salted Caramel: classic and consistently good. Very creamy and rich with subtle saltiness at the end. *Passionfruit Guava: a more tart and refreshing option. The guava was very pronounced. This was the perfect balance of sour and sweet. *Raspberry: rarely do I find berry flavored items to have such an umph. This had such a good body and fruitiness that it ranks highly in my world of sorbets. *Strawberry Lemonade: the sweet strawberry complemented the sour lemon base very well. It quenched our thirst from the rising heat. The employees make the prettiest swirls and even the mini is piled up high. I ordered a mini with two flavors and instead of the employee putting them in the cup next to each other she put one on the bottom and the other on the top. I realized after she gave it to me that she did this because the ice cream was not firm enough to stand up on its own in the cup. It would have been nice if her to communicate to me that my choice was not quite ready to be served and given me the option to change flavors instead of just putting melted ice cream in the bottom of my cup and semi melted ice cream on top of it. I must confess. This was a Plan B visit. We were originally going to another place to get a free froyo for the unofficial National Frozen Yogurt Day. I was feelin' kinda sorbet, so strawberry-kiwi flavor for me. The gal did her froyo artistry and also asked if Mini-me preferred the pink colored gummy frog from the array of available toppings. Approved. I think my kid liked the sorbet better since she spun the cup around leaving the mostly strawberry froyo side to me. Other notables: free yogurt stamp card and a yelp check-in 10% discount with minimum $5 purchase.
